One of the most natural deadpan deliveries of all time. A true character who can never be emulated. His book, Catcher in the Wry, is absolutely hilarious. I will never forget that he absolutely owned Sandy Koufax at the plate for some reason that neither of them could explain but still could laugh about decades later.
“Actually, the first sport I tried when I was a youngster was football. My dad didn’t know a lot about sports but he wanted me to do what all the other kids were doing. He gets me this football. We were passing it and trying to kick it. I couldn’t throw it. He can’t throw it. We were really getting aggravated and stuff like that. Then a nice-enough neighbor came over and put some air in it, and it made a huge difference.” - Bob Ueker
The moment from the Norm Show that lives rent-free in my head: when he tied a rag to the bottom of his dog and said Go get the dust bunnies, weiner dog"
That last sentence I get. I was in the middle of a little league game in the outfield I was like this isn't for me walked off the field jumping over the fence went home .and nobody came to my house to talk about it
I remember watching him on the Tonight Show in the early to mid-seventies (I was in my teens). Even though I wasn't much of a baseball fan, I always thought he was hilarious. His self-deprecating deadpan spiels were priceless. R.I.P.
I saw Norm towards the end of his career at stand-up he was headlining. All the comics proceeding him had done an excellent job save for one and even that one was just okay. Anyway he comes on and he's either shitfaced or heavily medicated and I thought "oh god, he's a big name celeb in a small city and he's going to give zero fuchs and ruin what was otherwise a great show" And then he proceeded to kill it. Even though age and whatever he was on had clearly taken its toll he was like a precision guided munition with his program. Thank you for a great night Norm and RIP Bob. You were an absolute 80's icon for me and a superb announcer!
Isn't there something with Artie Lange or Norm talking about how Bob could hit the dump button and go off on a player or fan? I loved Mr Belvedere. RIP
Mr. Baseball, I have a feeling he's having fun at the big spring training in the sky with all the greats, including Christopher Hewitt, Norm, Rodney, Billy Martin, and all the rest yelling about Great Taste Vs. Less Filling and eating some Usinger Sausage.
@@seminolejon Strange, I punched in his name in the search field on this channel and this is the only one that came up. Bottom line is this the channel to find out which celebrities have passed away.
This one hurts. Lots of laughs growing up in the 80s from Bob Uecker. Mr Belvedere with Mom, WrestleMania commentary with Dad. Major League.... RIP
Hurts bad
“Oh-fer June and July…” 😂😂
This is a riot! Love the deadpan delivery. RIP, Mr. Eucker.
You can tell why Norm loved him so much; a master of deadpan humour.
Bob's comedic timing was always off the charts. RIP Bob.
He never lost his sense of humor until the end. RIP Bob.

The letterman youtube channel is like a reverse post-mortem cancel post where they hold onto everything and release it as soon as someone dies lol
I knew when this day would come, the Letterman Channel would be the one to inform me about it.
1) because they're on it, and 2) because Dave interviewed EVERYONE, and usually to great result. Magic.
Wisconsinite here...we will miss you Mr. Baseball!
Two greats that will be sorely missed, Norm and Bob.
Bob Uecker was 90+ when he died today, January 16, 2025.
Rip, Mr. Baseball... i grew up knowing him as Harry Doyle from "major league" and that's how I'll always remember him
Pretty rare to have Letterman in such stitches like that.
Norm was probably Dave's favorite stand-up.

He is so incredibly dry. Love it.
Baseball Legend. Human Legend. R. I. P. Bob.
RIP Bob.....really thought he'd live forever.

Letterman TH-cam page might be faster than the NYTimes Obituary section.
Uecker used many of his oldest punchlines here and I still laughed my head off. Now that is comedy genius.
Bob and Norm are now running a comedy club in the Great Beyond.
Waiting for Artie to join them.
“Grab a bat and stop this rally.” That’s a great story Bob loves to tell about his playing days.
RIP Mr Baseball, you will be missed
The game winning walk joke is a killer

What a legend
Oh goodness, how I miss Normie. And now I'll miss Ueck as well.
Sooo quick witted !!!
Isn't there something with Artie Lange or Norm talking about how Bob could hit the dump button and go off on a player or fan? I loved Mr Belvedere. RIP
Yeah, Artie does that bit. It is funnier because he does it with an imitation of Bob's voice. You can picture Bob saying the lines.
R.I.P. Bob.
Look for Norm Macdonald talkig about Uecker. Hysterical, too.
Will miss his legendary call of Brewers games….
Mr. Baseball, I have a feeling he's having fun at the big spring training in the sky with all the greats, including Christopher Hewitt, Norm, Rodney, Billy Martin, and all the rest yelling about Great Taste Vs. Less Filling and eating some Usinger Sausage.
The best. Never be another Bob Uecker. Hope God puts you in for an inning or two, Bob. God speed.

Let me take a wild guess. Bob Uecker passed away?? You folks only post great moments when your guest's die. Why not when they're alive??
There's been plenty of Uecker clips on this channel. Guess you missed it.

Rip sir..thank you. 1/16/2025
