I think rp is great in F3. For example, play as a western cowboy that woke up on a spaceship that when returning to earth he realizes that the apocalypse has occured (start by immediately going to Zeta dlc and killinh paulson taking his loot and outfit.) once you have the outfit, let the rp begin. Or abe lincoln gain all his gear and free the wasteland, taking on slavers, paradise falls and then freeing the pit. When you do head of state quest, travel with the slaves and protect them as they journey to the lincoln memorial instead of fast travel. Or or or just be a caravan guard hoping to be a trader some day, travel with the caravans, gain loot and money and eventually open up your own company.
I played starfield and I agree that the main story line isn’t the best and for the very reason that it doesn’t really incorporate the new things like the ships and the oxygen system etc I would’ve preferred a main quest line where we were in the middle of the war they had and that would’ve had way more ship combat etc huge battles very epic idk what you think
I think the main issue with Starfield is that it ditches what Bethesda does well. The stories they write aren't particularly compelling, the combat is serviceable and it's graphically fine. What they always do well is exploration and I feel like Starfield ditches that. So all that's left is kind of just okay. Hopefully they correct course with ES6 and realise what they do know is exploration.
If we're going off of reviews recently: S: Morrowind and New Vegas, easily A: Oblivion, Skyrim B: Fallout 3, ESO C: Starfield, Fallout 76 (current), Fallout 4 D: Fallout 76 (launch) These are my opinions, obviously this is super subjective and you bring up a lot of points. But my biases are based on including Morrowind and comparing it to the TES games since

i think S tier is fallout: NV, Skyrim. A tier Fallout: 3, oblivion. B tier fallout 4, starfield. and C tier if fallout 76.
