I think that's how people who grew up with Bethesda would rank them - F3 and Morrowind being higher on the list. For someone coming in fresh, the gameplay of F3 and Morrowind can really feel wonky. Also, I think some people were OK with F4's RPG mechanic, as....thin as it was.
Morrowind is the most RPG of all Bethesda games. There’s a quest you get from a woman on a random road who is wearing The Boots of Blinding Speed. She can’t see due the boot and needs an escort to a nearby town. The reward is the boots that give you super speed but also blinding the wearer without magic resistance. You can either escort her or… kill her and take the boots. You can do that with every quest reward instead of doing the quest and that makes Morrowind the most immersive and the best rpg. There are no characters that can’t be murdered unlike the rest of the Bethesda titles. Hate a faction? Kill them. Hate a quest giver? Kill them. This means you can only role play and absolute psychopath in Morrowind. now that’s role playing. I’m not saying it’s the best game. Just the best RPG Bethesda has to offer
Heya fella, just stumbled across this video have to say I love your honest opinions,my history with Bethesda games started with Morrowind. i started with morrowind when i was in high school and i spent a crazy amount of time just running around killing stuff and looting before i ever touched the main quest. amazing game.
Fun watch and i am sure it took a lot of time so thanks for that. Personally, and i didn't grow up with these games really either, i can't stand Skyrim, Fallout 4 or Starfield. There's a difference between streamlining and removing all the fun out of characters. I don't even care about Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout 5 based on Bethesda's trajectory. They have no problem rereleasing Skyrim 100 different times instead of actually making good games. They're the video game equivalent of M Night Shamylan and Zack Snyder. "Remember how cool and successful we were with this one movie we made a long time ago? Let's just keep doing that except worse and with less effort thrown in." Leveling and character builds in Skyrim are beyond boring. I mean, i don't really get into heavy RPG mechanics a lot but Morrowind and Oblivion actually made me appreciate how much it attaches me to the world. I'd go either Fallout 3 or Oblivion for the best, even though they are both flawed. Morrowind #3. Everything else from Bethesda is just meh or worse. I hope Todd gets fired and they actually put someone with a genuine passion for their properties in charge. I mean, they let Obsidian make Fallout New Vegas and that game is 100% better than anything Bethesda has ever put out.
Before I watch the video, knowing what the contenders are, I'm gonna say what's my personal list and I'll later see to check how much I got right 8 - Elder Scrolls Blades 7 - Starfield 6 - Fallout 4 5 - Fallout 76 4 - Skyrim 3 - Fallout 3 2 - Morrowind 1 - Oblivion
I liked Oblivion and Morrowind far more than I liked Skyrim - especially Vanilla, unmodded Skyrim. While for FO3, The only memories I had of it, was that it was pretty buggy and crashed a lot the time I played it back in 2008. It was okay when it worked, but most of the time it crashed every 20 min on my PC.
How I would rank them: 6) Starfield - I did enjoy it overall but the lack of on foot exploration worth engaging in ruins a lot of the appeal of a bethesda game 5) Morrowind -I didnt play it til i was like 25 and it had been out for 15 years or so, it was pretty dated 4) FO4 - I really like this game but some of the changes - move to perks, the voiced protagonist, etc - just werent for me 3) FO3 - great game, i just dont enjoy my time as much as the two above this one 2) Skyrim - all time classic, think its 2nd for me mostly just because Oblivion was the first BGS game i played 1) Oblivion - My first bgs game, also personally think this was where bethesda's quest design and creativity peaked. As great as skyrim is i feel thats where their quest design went downhill a bit, it was still good, but felt there was a downward turn there. There were so many great quests in oblivion - Who Dunnit, the haunted house you buy, a brush with death, that quest where you sleep on the boat and wake up at sea. There seemed to be a lot less quests where you talked to somebody and the quest was basiclaly just "go uh kill these guys in this building and come back" which is what it felt most of fallout 4's quests were. Dark brotherhood and thieves guild were both incredible, and while the graphics are dated now i love the art style, almost looks like a watercolor painting or something. Will probably always be my favorite bgs game
I gotta say, if Skyrim wasn’t horribly written (talking dragons, *wooooooot* ) I would like it a lot more. As is, I’d say it’s a 6 and Oblivion is both smarter and more wondrous. But I’m happy you liked it!
Yeah Skyrim rules man, I have to say that even though Skyrim after a decade of gaming for me is not anymore the best game I ever played because now it's Elden Ring. But regardless it is still my favourite even with it being worse overall and that's because somehow Skyrim it gives you even more freedom than Elden Ring does and the universe of Elder Scrolls is quite a lot more interesting than whatever the hell is happening in Elden Ring.
Morrowind is the best Bethesda game, but I disagree with your Skyrim take. Skyrim holds up a lot better than Oblivion which is a weird in between. Also, you suck.
It's funny that you call Starfield's engine an "old ass engine" because it's actually a new engine and Starfield is the first game made on it. It's the Creation Engine 2, which is supposed to be a more advanced version of the engine that Bethesda has been using for years, at least since Morrowind.
He did say at the beginning that he didn’t play Oblivion and Morrowind back in the day and played them recently. Both of them, Morrowind especially though, have aged like milk. I can see how someone might have that opinion if they never played Morrowind growing up.
Morrowind is behind F4 and F3? U're crazy. Me too is the person that thinks Oblivion is better than Morrowind, I give you that, but there's no way in Universe that shameful F3 and F4 is ahead of Morrowind
Morrowind is an incredible game, it's so much better than 4 it's not even close. 3 I absolutely love though and I think it's on par with Morrowind for me.
For me: 1) Skyrim 2) Fallout 4 3) Fallout New Vegas (with mods, I never even bothered trying to play it without mods) 4) Fallout 3 5) Oblivion 6) Starfield None of them are bad, though
for me best to worst I would put them blades though never played but everything I've ehard....bad. starfield, this might be controverstial, but too many issues, I could write 5 paragraphs about them and will if someone wants to know them, but yeah this was bad, tedious, boring most of the time, some repetative exploration and many things. Fallout 76, for all it's issues it has something that starfield doesn't....heart, and fun exploration, it's lacking a lot of other issues, but it was actually fun to go out and do dungeons and areas, unlike with starfield. Oblivion. Probably the weakest of the elderscrolls series, it's exploration was almsot as bad as starfield, though it at least had some unique areas and such, but best loot I EVER found were all in two dungeons, every other place no matter how cool or remote, just ended up disapointing. Arena. Where it all started, fun game, fun leveling system, I love that the amont of mana you have remains the same other then of course increasing INT, but instead the spells get cheaper based upon your level. So a 1000 mana spell at level 10 will cost 100 and so on. Started the adventures and was fun for it's time, recently finally beat after 30 years and enjoyed. Daggerfall, this is a great game, though lacks a real outerworld, only real issue I have with it, a bit dated, but was fun to explore and do stuff, had werewolves, and wereboars, daedra and many more things. I rcommend checking out I think it's called daggerfall unity wich is a newer updated version with improved graphics and mod support. fallout 4, not the best game in the series, but still had fun exploration, even if they had dumbed down a lot of stuff that made the previous games fun and memorable. Fallout 3: Really good game, fun if I wasn't SOOO far behind on other games and backlog I wouldn't mind playing through again. Skyrim, the grandaddy of them all, in some ways worse then Morrowind, but fixed so much and had a great time with exploration, definetly one of my favorites. Morrowind, The fist elderscrolls for many people, still modded to this day I played this to death, I think at one point I had more hard drive filled with mods for the game, then the base game itself hehe. Werewolves before blood moon, and many more things. Maybe nostalgia so would have to play it again but definetly put it slightly above skyrim.
IMO: Skyrim: 10/10 Fallout 4: 9.5/10 Fallout 3: 9/10 Oblivion: 9/10 Starfield: 8/10 Morrowind wasn't even playable for me because I couldn't get past the generic fetch quests and the horrible combat.
Nice video, however putting Morrowind above Starfield looks sily. Morrowind even in his times was deeply flawed game and it aged very bad. It is unplayable right now even with mods. I played it a while because in his time it was it was technical achievement but most of its systems were just broken. It was beta version of the Oblivion tbh.
The writing, world building, ambience and role playing elements puts Morrowind far above any Bethesda Fallout game and firmly above Oblivion and Skyrim as the best game they ever made (as well as one of the best RPGs of all time).
Fallout 76 is ahead of Starfield by a mile. You're taking the vanilla game 76 was and comparing it to all the other games which is intellectually dishonest. 76 while still divisive amongst fans is probably making Bethesda the most money and is now quite successful.
I literally even said I came back to the game in 2023. A majority of my play time is from 2023. You can even tell the gameplay is from 2023. The game is still ass lol just not abysmal
My personal take 1 oblivion 2 morrowind 3 fallout new vegas 4 fallout 3 Dont care for the rest i played them all yet i don't like them And no im not a "nostalgia blinded fanboy" im literally 21 i never played those games on my childhood i used to play rts games back then I just think sometimes you just have to say "NO" everyone can have their own opinion and tastes and should be respectful even if they dont agree with others
Morrowind might be better than Fallout 4, if you avoid Morrowind's combat system. Morrowind might be better than combating malaria, if you avoid Morrowind's combat system.
I think Starfield is still even behind 76. At least with a multiplayer game you can always make fun with friends. Starfield is barren and there's no real excuse, there's more species diversity in Cyrodil alone than across a thousand planets in Starfield and having more in a game about space exploration when you offer a thousand planets and only 50 of those planets support life is pretty important. The combat felt clunky regardless of using Mouse and Key or Controller. they try to excuse a bunch of crap with "realism" but 80% of the weapons don't make mechanical sense, like less than base level understanding of firearms lack of mechanical sense. The moral ambiguity that Bethesda games play with is pretty much void, an experimental aerosolized contagion is the obvious right answer according to every NPC follower in the game, because it released after Coof, and they had their opinions manually changed to chastise you for thinking, in general an experimental drug is less preferable than introducing a natural predator to hunt an invasive species, and honestly the issue is that it's so obvious that originally they were both supposed to be comparable option. Oh and many storylines are very lazy "rip-offs" of other better sci-fi. It's not the worst game ever, just the worst Bethesda game ever.
@@tmoney142 Oh no, on the contrary, I found Starfield the less true Bethesda. The other games are also about exploring and finding interesting stuff on the way, let that be Bethesda's strongest abilitie, unfortunately it's Starfield 's biggest flaw.
Imo, Bethesda doesn’t make good games, just buggy messes that are clunky. The only game that is somewhat competent is Fallout New Vegas strictly bc of the side quests.
@@FrogWalrus lmao fair enough and honestly I tried to give it benefit of the doubt but I haven’t touched it since beating it and no longer looking forward to any elder scrolls or fallout content Bethesda incompetent and can’t change format to suit a fun gaming experience

blades though never played but everything I've ehard....bad.
starfield, this might be controverstial, but too many issues, I could write 5 paragraphs about them and will if someone wants to know them, but yeah this was bad, tedious, boring most of the time, some repetative exploration and many things.
IMO:
Skyrim: 10/10
Fallout 4: 9.5/10
Fallout 3: 9/10
Oblivion: 9/10
Starfield: 8/10
Morrowind wasn't even playable for me because I couldn't get past the generic fetch quests and the horrible combat.
💯
New vegas?
That’s what I’m saying
Not a Bethesda game, it was developed by Obsidian
He literally mentions why it wasn’t included at the start…

Did you even listen? You brain dead moron
Play Starfield on the X: it runs much better.
My personal take
1 oblivion
2 morrowind
3 fallout new vegas
4 fallout 3
Dont care for the rest i played them all yet i don't like them
And no im not a "nostalgia blinded fanboy" im literally 21 i never played those games on my childhood i used to play rts games back then
I just think sometimes you just have to say "NO" everyone can have their own opinion and tastes and should be respectful even if they dont agree with others
fallout new vegas > morrowind > skyrim > daggerfall > fallout 3 > oblivion > fallout 4
how much did Todd pay you for that Starfield review?
I really wish he did
Apparently the people who like Starfield are less credible than the people who played it for 100+ hours and still say it sucks.
morrowind>>>>skyrim
No fallout new Vegas?
He mentions it at the start if you actually watch the video.
Lmao casual gamer. Unsubscribed and blocked.
I’m sure he’s devastated…
This list is wrong.
Yeah, subjective rankings can’t really be wrong buddy.

Morrowind worse than Fallout 4? The last good game made by Bethesda is worse than Fallout 4? Sorry man, but please accept my dislike.
Morrowind might be better than Fallout 4, if you avoid Morrowind's combat system. Morrowind might be better than combating malaria, if you avoid Morrowind's combat system.
@@looker999997 As your skills and stats level up, you will land your hits almost all the time and there are mods to make hits and spells always land.
Saying Morrowind is their last good game is insane

Stop swearing in video because my mum is watching and I’m in trouble now :(
I think Starfield is still even behind 76.
Fallout 4 above 3 is blashephemous. It's barely even a Fallout game and is nowhere near as fun in my opinion. Plus Liam Neeson is your Dad.
Fallout 4 is my favourite

Starfield is the worst because it has pronouns ( is just a joke. Didn't played the game yet )
I don’t agree staefeild has good combat especially the space combat it’s pretty bad imo
staefeild does have good combat, but Starfield does not.
@@FrogWalrus lmao fair enough and honestly I tried to give it benefit of the doubt but I haven’t touched it since beating it and no longer looking forward to any elder scrolls or fallout content Bethesda incompetent and can’t change format to suit a fun gaming experience
