It's so funny when I hear people say they don't like the actual baking part. I'm just the opposite. I LOVE the baking part! In fact, I posted in a local baking group to see if any decorators in my area would like to partner up and I would bake their layers, so they could just decorate and all I got were....crickets. I really thought it was a great idea, but I guess not.
I know! I think part of it for me is that baking takes time and patience and I like to go really fast through things. It’s very counter to my natural mind. If it was a baking group people probably have their own things going on and don’t want to work for anyone else maybe, but idk lol. I meet more bakers that prefer decorating than baking so it could be we attract what we are lol 🤷🏽♀️
I learned how to make recipes by reading books. I read Mark Bittman's (How to Cook Everything, How to Bake Everything) and Rose Levy Beranbaum’s (The Cake Bible) books to understand how each ingredient works in a recipe. I also watched videos on leaveners to see how they worked. Turns out people use too many whole eggs in their recipes. Less egg whites = moist cakes.
Is there an app you use to r yet your recipes in? Mine are on scraps of paper lol and I can’t find an app that works out all the nutrients and their values. ❤
