- 2 cups sugar
⅔ cup margarine
3 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
4-7 cups flour, enough flour for soft dough
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Cream sugar and butter together; then add the eggs and mix well. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. With the first cup of flour, add the baking soda and salt; then add the remaining flour. Mix well. Dough will be very soft. The longer the dough sits the stiffer it will be.
Roll out on a lightly floured surface. Using a round cookie cutter and place onto a greased cookie sheet. Top with colored sugars or sprinkles.
Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cooking time may vary depending on the oven. At 7 minutes do a finger test, if your finger indentation doesn’t pop back up, cook a little longer.
This is my Aunt Shirley’s recipe that she had gotten from my grandmother Copp and a family tradition during the Christmas Holiday. I remember making these cookies with Aunt Shirley, Kathryn, my niece and nephews. Great memories! I hope you would consider making it for your family and starting your own cookie tradition.
Blessings,
Terri
