I'm a doctor and was holding back for the entire video; given that we are trained to hide our emotions in clinical settings. I heard "Trust me..." and rolled my eyes, assuming the narrator was about to say "I'm a doctor." When he said "I'm in a lab coat" I lost it laughing and crying at the same time. You don't need a medical school education or a PhD to positively influence people's lives, or any formal education at all for that matter. Just a simple message like this can really influence a person's outlook on life and how they feel about themselves. Even someone like me; a cold, conditioned medical professional whose life centers around neutralizing my feelings and emotions. I'm going to call my dad and do this as soon as it isn't 3:20 a.m. on a Thursday night, because I have a day off tomorrow.
The old man who picks his teacher. That's why most teachers go into teaching - to be able to affect someone like that. Yay for everyone omg life is great :)
I thought of my 6th grade Science and Math teacher while watching. Best teacher I ever had. I can't explain. It would probably take you guys an hour to read and even longer for me to write.
I thought it would've been really awesome if he could've called his account teacher's family. I would love to get a call from someone saying why my father or grandfather was such an important and influential person for them. That would have been really amazing.
I can't be the only one really inspired by the fact that the older gentleman chose his college accounting instructor, good teachers can have a big impact on someone's life and I wish that more teachers could hear that.
You will probably NEVER see this but I was SO glad that I reached out to my best HS English and German teacher a couple of years ago. (I graduated in 1978!) Unbeknownst to me, he was dying of cancer at the time and was "flabbergasted" that I had reached out to him through our alumni office. I just HAD to tell him how much he had meant to me. I had a VERY successful academic course in college partially thanks to his fine teaching!
Im greatful for my younger brother, not only because i have someone to talk to and is always there. But because he got me out of deppression and stopped from suiciding in the garage. Im grateful that he helped me see what i had lost sight of, he helped me see what was in front of me this whole time. Which was my family, my brother saved my life. Gave me hope that things would get better. My brother is my best friend that nothing / no one can replace. Im grateful for having him around, despite the times that we fight and hate eachother. There isnt anything in the world that will change that. My brother who is now 12 at the time has saved the life of someone who was 17 and have been going into the darkest moments of deppression. Thanks to him, I'm still in good health. My younger brother, whom at the time didnt care of what i did for the longest time, did something that even i couldnt do. That was, showing me the pain that loved ones would have to endure, for my careless thoughts, while blinded in deppression. Thanks to him I found what i have been missing. Thank you bro. For having my back when i needed it the most then and now.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope you see this. Thank you for this video as it moved more mountains in so many people's lives than you'll ever realize

My mum and I aren't in the same country and I haven't called her in 3 wks. This has reminded me that inspite of all the ups and downs in our relationship and all our disagreements she still wants the best for me. We're pretty much oil and water and I remember exactly when that happened when I was younger. As much as it is hard for either of us to verbally communicate affection, it's important I let her know I appreciate how much she's done for me.
In the period between childhood and maturity, we're often reluctant to honestly express our gratitude. But when we leave the things we had far behind, we come to realize with painful clarity just how precious they were. Just how happy they made us. I'm crying again, goddamn it.
I am giving gratitude now then for the fullness of everything now. This is heaven if our emotional of gratitude is full for every wonder, the beauty in every angle and light, the world itself is angelic.
This may sound sad but i literally don't have anyone I can call that I can truly say has inspired me. Ive mostly just been overcoming peoples' bad influences in my life and protecting my mind. Maybe I need to think deeper, try harder... but yea.
It's okay if no one has inspired you, you being the person you are is just proof that even without people inspiring you, you can still be an amazing person! :)
Sometimes it is not one person that inspires you. Look around. If you are surrounded by great people then you are at the right place. If not, do something about it.
I come back to this video once and awhile. I did the challenge while in college and it was one of the happiest moments of my life. I was really down, and this made me soar.
*It was the adrenaline, that rush of actually doing the test and FEELING happiness to let my feelings out to someone I loved, put me on top of the world in that moment. I only wish I could see my smile.*
I usually don't share or write comments on TH-cam . However this one caught me by surprise, I have been going through a lot recently, and my dad being a typical hispanic father has taught be to keep it in. I literally bursted into tears seeing this video, and it felt really good . Now I just want to call all my loved ones and tell them , how much they mean to me. Thank you for sharing this video.
Seriously I was high when I watch this and eating and I don't when in middle of food , middle of highness, middle of show my tears come out. Thank you for this. One of the best answer I get for happiness is here. Thank you. I'm feeling more happier now.
After 20 years of research, I’ve eventually been able to reach my second grade teacher to express my gratitude for the help she gave me (the last time I saw her it was 30 years before!): I don’t if I can measure the level happiness I felt for this! The same afternoon, when later I shared it with my family, the day before and even now I poured many tears of ...happiness I think!
@@abnermikalixen5890 forgot that i wrote this comment on youtube i used to have an interesting life i see....but goddamn you are so right imagine...good thing that didnt happen here in quarantine
It is nice to see that with all of our social media where people do not actually meet other people face to face and appear to hate each other, that when it comes right down to it and their feelings are exposed, there is a genuine loving and caring individual. This strengthened my belief even if it's just a little that people can still actually be kind and caring. We need more of this rather than the hatred you see on television.
Did anyone else cried like a baby when he asked who influenced you the most in your life and I instantly thought of my mom, I cried so hard I felt like I need a break from the video and it's fucking 1.30 and I have school tomorrow. I've never felt more appreciative of my mom and I realized how much of a brat I've been. I am so so so so so sorry mom...
As a mom I can guarantee that she knows your faults and loves you more than you can possibly fathom. Give her a call and tell her how much you are thankful for her (on this day after Thanksgiving 2021).
There is a glow of thanks in my eyes tonight, I have walked freely through a free America, where Buddha is in abundance and as common as the weeds. Thank you, America, you are the land that allows us oneness, you give us all connections but you also let us be alone, in your natural glory, you are a Buddha pure land. America you have made us friends to all cultures, highlighting that we are one at the root and as unique as the colors of a rainbow in individuality. Because you have made friendship through education and ended misconception you recieve the gift of all the parts helping one cause. I am grateful for the liberations that are yet to blossom from the boughs of American trees, I am in thanksgiving every day knowing that all beings will be liberated from injustice. America they will not mine your metals and oils because the liberty growing there is more renewable! Liberty itself is a resource that we must realize we have in prime , karmas law
Thank you for the video, it reminded me of how much I actually appreciate my dad. I have never really expressed this gratitude to him and plan on doing this when I get home to see him. I am almost certain that I will barely be able to get it out and will be brought to tears. Thank you
I red an article lately on trueactivist that said one of the 5 things most people regred when they are dying is to not have expressed their feelings. So Yes, i beleave letting other people know how you feel about them makes you a happier person.
I wonder how much of this can be attributed to expressing gratitude, versus genuine connection? Those who weren't able to call the person, still expressed their gratitude in writing, but I think having those heart-felt conversations with another, are some of the most meaningful experiences we can have in life. Especially in a culture that emphasizes individualism, life can feel very isolating. Our mental health craves community and connection, and expressing gratitude is a great gateway through the walls we typically hide behind
I am grateful for you and your team that put this together. Please let each of them know how much they are contributing to a better world. Thank you very, very much
I'm a high school English teacher, and I used this video for a "Thanksgiving week activity." I did the activity and called someone to read my letter to in front of each of my classes, each time my students actually cried listening to me express my gratitude towards my husband, my sister, my sons, and my best friend. Each student did the same activity and called someone from class--the lesson was not lost on anyone! So many of them were talking about how well it worked: "I called my mom, and she said I made her day, and now I feel really good that I changed her day!" This was the most powerful lesson I have ever taught! Thank you!
I've been doing a gratitude challenge for 2 months. Write 3 things you are grateful for. Even if your upset. Everyday. Even small things. It has made me more aware of this short life and seriously more grateful than I have ever been. It takes less than 5 minutes and gives you more perspective. And made me around 70-80% better mood, wiser, it is awesome. And thank you ♡
Hey btw just telling you mantras and the New Age is Demonic. As your not suppose to be opening your third eye and such and it’s in the Bible not to do manifestions. There are a bunch of Ex-New Age testimonies on TH-cam telling from their personal experinces of demonic attacks through New Age. Pls for your soul leave it and come to the true light of the lord God.
@@riyascorner9198 nice opinion, you don't even know if they did. whether they did it for a certain reason or not I don't think you should be focused on that because it's not your business. It seems as if you're seeking attention by downgrading others, please change your ways before something truly terrible happens to you. You should not have turned such a beautiful comment with such nice words "love & light" turn into this, you say god is good but you don't respect people like how everyone should do.
Brilliant video. Something we can all do more of in our lives. That one phone call makes such a difference for both the recipient & giver. Imagine you did this on a weekly basis - how you would feel then? And imagine how people would feel about being around you? Love it. Also loved the bit at the end - "Trust me. I'm in a lab coat".
Because you are a thread in the beautiful tapestry that is the Universe. We are connected in a deeper way that we can understand, so when someone is touched, all of us are. To you and all people I say: Namaste! If you don't know the meaning of this word, look it up. The definition itself might make you cry again.
I have watched this video maybe 30 times. I've sent it to friends and family more times than I can count. I've even used it in a psychology presentation and for work training. It still makes me tear up. This is wonderful.
This video made me smile. We did kind of the same thing in my Health class; we wrote a thank you letter to express our gratitude, but I never delivered it. Maybe I should try delivering it...
I think just the fact you thought about what you're grateful for is enough to give you (or anyone) happiness on a regular basis. Of course there's nothing wrong with delivering your letter to whomever you wrote it to.
I had my clients write a gratitude list and on the list they put 3 things they are grateful for. 3 people they are grateful for and 3 reasons why. I wish I had of asked them to call those 3 people! It was awesome though. They shared openly and so many emotions from joy to tears to recognition on how they felt about them etc. I explained that I do a gratitude list in prayers in the morning when awaking and evening before bed. It has had such a powerful influence over my life and attitude towards life. Love this!
I just sent my mom and sisters a long text saying that I love them. I don't remember the last time I've said it but I'm grateful they exist. My mother for her sacrifices, my elder sister for her protection(she's small and crazy. Filipino women, am I right?) and my little sister for saving me. Because if it wasn't for her existence, I would've committed suicide at a young age and I realised one day back then that I didn't want to put her through that. I don't think I've cried this long in decades. I'm a 28y old man bawling his eyes out over a text. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've been very critical as of late and I don't like it. I'm trying to be more appreciative now, I've been practising gratitude for a while now, and I tell my mum how much I appreciate her a lot, it's nice to know you're appreciated. Now I want to take it to the next level and express it to as many people as possible, I don't wanna be critical anymore, I wanna be loving and all accepting. Ty for this video, even watching it uplifted my spirits. _ /|\ _ ❤️
This video made me in tears.. Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge. I recently have been writing gratitude memos before I go to sleep and I have seen the impact they made! Wonderful science.
my teacher did this test to me and three others. I never knew it would have so big impact on me. I'm thankful for people who does care and show the best to others like he did to me
It is such a beautiful scientific experiment of showing gratitude to the person who gave the biggest impact in your life. Seeing their reaction can boost the level of your happiness. Watching this video made me emotional. I almost teared up.
Julian you're a great man. Watching this made me feel really good. I'll thank my mom later and maybe she'll roll her eyes and walk away, I know she'll be happy and doesn't want me to see her teary smile. Thanks Julian. . . Hey, BTW you're handsome😇
I'm a physician and was holding back for the entire video; given that we are trained to hide our emotions in clinical settings. I'm going to call my mom and do this as soon as it isn't 3:20 a.m. on a Thursday night, because I have a day off tomorrow.
Well now I'm an emotional wreck lol, that was so beautiful my poor un-expecting family and friends are getting giant paragraphs of why I love them today! :'D
I watched this today at a presentation by SoulPancake cofounder Shabnam Mogharabi. After the video, she asked if there was anyone that wanted to come up and share who they were grateful for on stage. A gentlemen bravely approached the stage and shared that through his troubles his wife had stayed by him and helped him be strong. Then, Shabnam asked him if he could call her. TEARS TEARS omg. He put her on speaker phone, we all heard him tell her how grateful he was to have her in his life and that he couldn't do this without her. It was such an amazingly great AUTHENTIC moment. I've been to many speakers, and this was one of my favorite. Someone who really understands the power of authentic connection and how it can change the world.
This is absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much. I know that since I have learned to be grateful to life and for life my happiness has increased expotentially. Thank you for sharing this. It reminds me of this quote: Gratitude is a recognition of the giving of others and of the giving of life. It is a recognition of what you have right now. It is a recognition of the miracle of your existence. From Joy and Gratitude by Marshall Vian Summers
omg I cried so much 😭😭 I feel so bad. I haven't given my mom enough gratitude for everything she has done for me. I had an arguement with her today and she probably hates me right now 😭😭😭 I really want to say sorry. I don't know how. I feel so awkward. I'm such a bad daughter 😭 my mom worked so hard to raise so many children yet I have to put more pressure on her. 😭😭 I'll do something for her and try to make it up. I'm acting like such a child 😔
Sweetheart, when you say to mama that you're sorry and that you understand your previous position was wrong, and if she is mature enough to celebrate your learning (but not react back in anger) yours will be the best of friendships that the world has ever seen
Good Morning~ I LOVE this video! I am putting it within my "Thank-fullness" Lesson. I am a Visual Arts Teacher at Whitman Middle School in Whitman, MA. During this awful pandemic, I am trying to be as creative as ever to have my students be engaged. This video is touching and lets us think of how lucky we are to have people in our lives that we love. I have put within this lesson as well; how has this person positively impacted me and my life as well as what is special to them. Whether it be the sunset on a summers day, a pet, a cityscape or an image of a lighthouse. Create those images for this special person and write a small "thank you" note to them, expressing gratitude for what they have done for you. They may have laughed with you, loved you, taken care of you when you were sick, or pepped you up when you happened to be down. Then mail it to them, hand it to them, drop it off in their mailbox. Their reactions will make you happy~ Because people need people. Thank you for this inspiring video, especially during this time of crisis~ Take care, Rebecca Ewell Visual Arts Teacher
Hey buddy! I totally understand what you mean.. I've been there.. I know your comment was 3 years old, but if you're still in that place.. you may want to write the letters for yourself or even daily gratitude journal for some time.. you don't even have to send the letter to that person.. Don't force yourself.. it does not work most of the time.. just keep doing these perhaps in a place you have privacy, so you can comfortably cry or laugh.. trust me.. this can change your life totally :) All the best to you! :)

Ditto what IShipWhoVideos said.
Maybe you can be a true inspiration to people. I bet you could. :)
Go out and make new friends, search for someone that makes you a better Person, someone that challenges you, someone that has what u want.
Thank you for sharing this video.
i cried a lot duing the sisters part and idk why :(
Do you have a sister?
i did too, mostly because i have an older sister and i related to that, i even pictured my own sister while she was talking to hers
Seriously I was high when I watch this and eating and I don't when in middle of food , middle of highness, middle of show my tears come out. Thank you for this. One of the best answer I get for happiness is here. Thank you. I'm feeling more happier now.
Gratitude is the best! I try my best to show someone how much i care, sometimes it may be too much but it just means i care that much about you.
Trying to be in a state of gratitude even when there is apparently nothing to be grateful for, is an unfailing way to be peaceful and joyous.

Victoria Frauenfelder And YOU are moreso for sharing first!
Thank you!
Thank you and I’m sure you’re beautiful and sweet and people love you too
Victoria Frauenfelder thank you and same to you 💖
Yah not really .
My teacher showed us this video and had us do this. Helped so much, it was truly beautiful to see my piers calling their loved ones.
this made me so happy just to watch

i was watching this while i was on the toilet...i cried while sitting on the toilet😂😂😂😂😂
kakaljin 134 I honestly would have said that an important person in my life is Brendon Urie lol
if this isn’t me
pray no one heard you and just wondered wtf you were doing
At least you had enough tissues to wipe your tears... otherwise you would have a whole different set of problems to resolve
This is so precious and uplifting. I'm crying tears of joy, and I know none of these precious Folks! THANK-YOU!!
I mean.. this dude is wearing glasses and a lab coat so I gotta trust him
Angel 28 exactly ! XD

I am so so so so so sorry mom...
wow thanks for making me cry I was holding back tears the entire time... I know that your mom loves you :)
Sorry doesn’t cut it. How about “I love your you so, so, so much for. . . .”?
@@kylawood1601 seriously? Are you their mom or something?
aw honey.
As a mom I can guarantee that she knows your faults and loves you more than you can possibly fathom. Give her a call and tell her how much you are thankful for her (on this day after Thanksgiving 2021).
Weird. The person that has motivated me the most is Naruto Uzumaki...
Carlos Sarceno I appreciate his character too
U go to njit?
Carlos Sarceno Lmaaao!!!
Carlos Sarceno i recently thought of this aswell
+Carlos Sarceno I thought I was weird, but it seems people feel like this too lol
Thank you
"Trust me, I am in a lab coat"
I love this phrase
Is it normal to be crying my eyes out right now??? Goodness. Great first video to stumble on. I subscribed. Thank you!
I red an article lately on trueactivist that said one of the 5 things most people regred when they are dying is to not have expressed their feelings. So Yes, i beleave letting other people know how you feel about them makes you a happier person.
Wow - tears are flowing. i dont know why but they are - I love to see people experience happiness i guess. Love this
I wonder how much of this can be attributed to expressing gratitude, versus genuine connection? Those who weren't able to call the person, still expressed their gratitude in writing, but I think having those heart-felt conversations with another, are some of the most meaningful experiences we can have in life. Especially in a culture that emphasizes individualism, life can feel very isolating. Our mental health craves community and connection, and expressing gratitude is a great gateway through the walls we typically hide behind
It made me cry the most important people in your life can make you happy
''trust me, i'm in a lab coat'' yeah i was crying but then this line just cracked me up.
thank you for this video! it sure felt good.
“Trust me, I’m in a lab coat” ACTUALLY made me laugh. This was great, thank you.
I am grateful for you and your team that put this together.
Please let each of them know how much they are contributing to a better world.
Thank you very, very much
This video is one of the few videos that has actually made me cry happy tears.
Doing this activity today with my Mom.
Thank you!
"Trust me. I'm in a lab coat." LOL
Awwww man... this made me cry.
This is true. I always call my mom and brother whenever I feel bad, and everything just lightens up.
And thank you ♡
Making someone happy, makes me happy the most.
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL. EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD NEEDS THIS CHANNEL. I AM YELLING!
spread and share the love ppl we need it in this world today
I am grateful for this video. NAMASTE my friends.
LOVE & LIGHT
I can smell psuedo-science from just ur username
Brilliant video. Something we can all do more of in our lives. That one phone call makes such a difference for both the recipient & giver. Imagine you did this on a weekly basis - how you would feel then? And imagine how people would feel about being around you? Love it.
Also loved the bit at the end - "Trust me. I'm in a lab coat".
But if u do it on a weekly basis shud we choose a diff person each time or stay with the one who influences the most? 🤔
I love this video. I always watch it when ever I'm sad, angry or upset. I sent my dad a text and it was on of the best moments in my life. Thank you.
i dont know why this makes me cry :)
me too

Because you are a thread in the beautiful tapestry that is the Universe. We are connected in a deeper way that we can understand, so when someone is touched, all of us are. To you and all people I say: Namaste! If you don't know the meaning of this word, look it up. The definition itself might make you cry again.
Yamini Aw same
Why would someone dislike this? It's so cool!
might be they should try being grateful!
:p
Maybe feeling challenged to face the emotions.
Talking about feeling makes some people uncomfortable
I have watched this video maybe 30 times. I've sent it to friends and family more times than I can count. I've even used it in a psychology presentation and for work training. It still makes me tear up. This is wonderful.
this is a great example of why its important to call out the good you see in people. it can be life changing for both sides, as it was for me.
I'm a pretty masculine man... Watched this and thought to myself "here we go, another bullshit video" ... started crying
Masculinity is not about not crying, masculinity is about encouraging yourself to show your real emotions
You shouldn’t have to feel like you shouldn’t be allowed to cry because you’re a man
toxic masculinity again.
I know this was 3 years ago but my class saw this video and half the class cried and we are doing this!
I hope your journey of gratitude is going well :)
I love this response!
Great video.. Shaytards sent me here! :)
Must resist crying... Most resist- *starts crying*
hahahaa that was me!
This video inspired me so much and 8 years later I still watch it and can't stop the tears
This video made me in tears.. Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge.
I recently have been writing gratitude memos before I go to sleep and I have seen the impact they made! Wonderful science.

Thanks to Logan
I'm crying like crazy
Can't stop
my teacher did this test to me and three others.
I almost teared up.
i cried thinking about my mom... i love her
Beautiful and true, it made me cry. Thank you so much for this positive reminder
Go Logan!
Julian you're a great man. Watching this made me feel really good. I'll thank my mom later and maybe she'll roll her eyes and walk away, I know she'll be happy and doesn't want me to see her teary smile. Thanks Julian.

Hey, BTW you're handsome😇
I'm a physician and was holding back for the entire video; given that we are trained to hide our emotions in clinical settings. I'm going to call my mom and do this as soon as it isn't 3:20 a.m. on a Thursday night, because I have a day off tomorrow.
lol, I got emotional watching this... cried rivers! Loved it
This is my favorite video in all of TH-cam
Well now I'm an emotional wreck lol, that was so beautiful my poor un-expecting family and friends are getting giant paragraphs of why I love them today! :'D
This channel is like a happy non drama heartfelt buzzfeed. I love it
I watched this today at a presentation by SoulPancake cofounder Shabnam Mogharabi.
This was so great! It made me happy just watching!
This is absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much. I know that since I have learned to be grateful to life and for life my happiness has increased expotentially. Thank you for sharing this. It reminds me of this quote:
Gratitude is a recognition of the giving of others and of the giving of life. It is a recognition of what you have right now. It is a
recognition of the miracle of your existence.
From Joy and Gratitude by Marshall Vian Summers
Thanks ALW
omg I cried so much 😭😭 I feel so bad.
I'm sure she'll forgive you ♥
Sweetheart, when you say to mama that you're sorry and that you understand your previous position was wrong, and if she is mature enough to celebrate your learning (but not react back in anger) yours will be the best of friendships that the world has ever seen
This made me cry and cry and cry & realise that we dont do this enough!! THANK YOU.
Thank you for this inspiring video, especially during this time of crisis~
Take care,
Rebecca Ewell

"Trust me im in a lab coat" 😂
ugh i want to do this but i'm scared
Do it!!! You can do it!
wiped out same here :(
Scared of what? Saying nice things about someone so they can have a nice day? Go ahead, it'll be fine.
Man I really shouldn't cut onions and watch youtube at the same time.
I am a 23 yaers old psicology student and i love people and theyr feelings; I have just watched this video and I think it will change my life in a marvellous way, cause it makes me understand (and be more convincet that) these are the feelings i really want to work with in my life.
Crying happy tears through this whole video. So touching. Thank you.
