I'm a doctor and was holding back for the entire video; given that we are trained to hide our emotions in clinical settings. I heard "Trust me..." and rolled my eyes, assuming the narrator was about to say "I'm a doctor." When he said "I'm in a lab coat" I lost it laughing and crying at the same time. You don't need a medical school education or a PhD to positively influence people's lives, or any formal education at all for that matter. Just a simple message like this can really influence a person's outlook on life and how they feel about themselves. Even someone like me; a cold, conditioned medical professional whose life centers around neutralizing my feelings and emotions. I'm going to call my dad and do this as soon as it isn't 3:20 a.m. on a Thursday night, because I have a day off tomorrow.

Im greatful for my younger brother, not only because i have someone to talk to and is always there. But because he got me out of deppression and stopped from suiciding in the garage. Im grateful that he helped me see what i had lost sight of, he helped me see what was in front of me this whole time. Which was my family, my brother saved my life. Gave me hope that things would get better. My brother is my best friend that nothing / no one can replace. Im grateful for having him around, despite the times that we fight and hate eachother. There isnt anything in the world that will change that. My brother who is now 12 at the time has saved the life of someone who was 17 and have been going into the darkest moments of deppression. Thanks to him, I'm still in good health. My younger brother, whom at the time didnt care of what i did for the longest time, did something that even i couldnt do. That was, showing me the pain that loved ones would have to endure, for my careless thoughts, while blinded in deppression. Thanks to him I found what i have been missing. Thank you bro. For having my back when i needed it the most then and now.

I can't upload a video because there are students involved, but I did this with my kids. They are from a title 1 school and many of them have rough backgrounds. I showed them this video, had them write the letter, and many decided to call the person from school. Some cried, which made me cry, but all were happy. I'm working on placing positive energy in their lives and this was one that I'm sure they won't forget!

In the period between childhood and maturity, we're often reluctant to honestly express our gratitude. But when we leave the things we had far behind, we come to realize with painful clarity just how precious they were. Just how happy they made us.
    I'm crying again, goddamn it.

I am grateful for marijuana in that it served as a catalyst for us all to have some time in nature, without the lab coats, without the imposition of manmade technologies and without the sterile scientific mindset.
I am grateful that although we may want to sometimes stand apart analytically in the descriptor language of scientists, we are also realizing that the nature of mind and history is also cyclical return to the truly natural unity of wholistic vibration. Wholistic vibration is an elusive concept to the logos, like 'Aloha', it is one aspect that small kids instantly understand but those more initiated into society find marijuana experiences may be very helpful to aid in revival of.
It wasn't until marijuana that I fully went back, knowing it didn't mean all had been destroyed, only that the flowers, ground and fruits of nature would also be coming with me, not restrained or diminished.
I was able to talk to the Buddha in the plants and for the peace I gave thanks.

Bill and Rose Morriss gave me a graduation card in 1970 and that wisdom has sustained me all my long life:
    Happiness does not
    depend upon what
    happens outside of you
    but on what happens
    inside of you; it is
    measured by the spirit
    in which you meet the
    problems of life.

My mum and I aren't in the same country and I haven't called her in 3 wks. This has reminded me that inspite of all the ups and downs in our relationship and all our disagreements she still wants the best for me. We're pretty much oil and water and I remember exactly when that happened when I was younger. As much as it is hard for either of us to verbally communicate affection, it's important I let her know I appreciate how much she's done for me.

This video almost 10 years ago changed my life. And I have changed so many lives living this out.. Anytime I speak highly about someone to someone else, I often call and message the person I was talking about in that moment to express that to them. I've also asked close friends who talk someone else up, to call that person in the moment to express that. They're shy about doing it at first, but once they do.. they see how much their life change.
From the bottom of my heart, I hope you see this. Thank you for this video as it moved more mountains in so many people's lives than you'll ever realize

I have to press "like "and like just can not express my gratefulness to this video, since due to this video, my daughter was inspired and wrote a letter to me as a Christmas gift expressing her gratefulness and love to me , and described me as her "Most important person in her life, an Awesome supporter and company, and a Gracious and Fun Mom".
This is by far the most precious gift I have ever received in my life, and I will cherish it and hold it dear to my heart! Because this letter, I had the most wonderful Christmas, though I almost cried my eyes out while reading her touching words. Last night, I put it under my pillow, and had a sound , relaxed and long sleep!
What a priceless Christmas gift that I have, and I would like to share my joy and happiness to all of you.

I wonder how much of this can be attributed to expressing gratitude, versus genuine connection? Those who weren't able to call the person, still expressed their gratitude in writing, but I think having those heart-felt conversations with another, are some of the most meaningful experiences we can have in life. Especially in a culture that emphasizes individualism, life can feel very isolating. Our mental health craves community and connection, and expressing gratitude is a great gateway through the walls we typically hide behind

Thank you, America, you are the land that allows us oneness, you give us all connections but you also let us be alone, in your natural glory, you are a Buddha pure land.
America you have made us friends to all cultures, highlighting that we are one at the root and as unique as the colors of a rainbow in individuality. Because you have made friendship through education and ended misconception you recieve the gift of all the parts helping one cause.
I am grateful for the liberations that are yet to blossom from the boughs of American trees, I am in thanksgiving every day knowing that all beings will be liberated from injustice.

I just sent my mom and sisters a long text saying that I love them. I don't remember the last time I've said it but I'm grateful they exist. My mother for her sacrifices, my elder sister for her protection(she's small and crazy. Filipino women, am I right?) and my little sister for saving me. Because if it wasn't for her existence, I would've committed suicide at a young age and I realised one day back then that I didn't want to put her through that. I don't think I've cried this long in decades. I'm a 28y old man bawling his eyes out over a text. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Brilliant video. Something we can all do more of in our lives. That one phone call makes such a difference for both the recipient & giver. Imagine you did this on a weekly basis - how you would feel then? And imagine how people would feel about being around you? Love it.

I'm a high school English teacher, and I used this video for a "Thanksgiving week activity." I did the activity and called someone to read my letter to in front of each of my classes, each time my students actually cried listening to me express my gratitude towards my husband, my sister, my sons, and my best friend. Each student did the same activity and called someone from class--the lesson was not lost on anyone! So many of them were talking about how well it worked: "I called my mom, and she said I made her day, and now I feel really good that I changed her day!" This was the most powerful lesson I have ever taught! Thank you!

It is inspiring to see americans around me being a little more assuring of their loyalty to THIS country, and their adherence to american freedom and equality in personal experience.
I had an experience that represented a climactic insight that all things have never ceased to be emptiness, but even despite this, love is. I emphasized the rareness and fullness of the logic and experience of freedom beauty and happiness is gave me, as an equation just that one fractal step beyond the grids.
Other americans listened and felt awe, but they then found equalities in their own unique experiences. They are americanly polite. They are finding equality and matching one of my greatest experiences thus making it relateable.
Only in america can I be enlightened and instantly everyone else understand without explanation, so i am grateful, this is not a place where spiritual teachers are needed really, so much as a place whose principles must be viewed more simply and constantly for it to grow and flourish as it should.
Money alone is not america, and money is possibly in a sense a trap for america, who must assure its true essence of wealth is its adherence to real freedom of life and consciousness without violence. Thank you USA

I'm a physician and was holding back for the entire video; given that we are trained to hide our emotions in clinical settings. I'm going to call my mom and do this as soon as it isn't 3:20 a.m. on a Thursday night, because I have a day off tomorrow.

I am deeply grateful to have seen the good of a little of all heritages in good life circumstances, absorbing some of the deep wisdom of all people's in such a meeting place as the USA. It is nice to see that with all of our social media where people do not actually meet other people face to face and appear to hate each other, that when it comes right down to it and their feelings are exposed, there is a genuine loving and caring individual. This strengthened my belief even if it's just a little that people can still actually be kind and caring. We need more of this rather than the hatred you see on television.

I am grateful for the green grass and the blue sky. I am grateful to be free and have no major obligations right now. I am grateful for the kindness and wisdom of those around me, and their efforts to sustain and promote goodness in the world.
When my way of life yields its unique jewel, either in meditation, in amidst the flow of every day life, its jewel being the lotus flower of satori, there is no expression suitable for the thanks that my soul has.
What has made me flexible and relaxed all these years is that simple insight, or satori, of true emptiness. What has allowed me to sustain my beginner's mind and beginner's heart is the mathematical truth that there is simply none.
Starting from that point, I am able to extricate myself from a mind that flows like a river, from illusion to illusion, I am able to effect reality and truly live because it does not bind me as an absolute. Like watching a graph or matrix, I am aware of the eternal cosmic emptiness in it all, rather than only of the binary input information.
Paradoxically, there are ways to strengthen our root to this liberating and infinite emptiness (which is akin to energy) one being the act of writing and attempting to reflect it in poignant words such as sutras.
Each time I awaken to the truth, then express it, I am fastening it to a world that will otherwise be unconscious of itself. Therefore I am thankful for language because it serves as a doorway to freedom. The more clear reflection of reality, the less pain because the true possibility remains apparent. The energy is free, not blocked by the mind's games.
    Emptiness reflects fullness.
    __________
I am grateful for the power of thought vibration. As I go to school, the thoughts uplift me, I realize there is a deeper truth than I initially expected within it all. I feel, in the intellectual thoughts a satori based not in mere survival but actual transcendence.

    Nodo - throat in nihongo
    ____________
I see a fair world, a balanced world (almost surrealistically so, as if it were an intended depiction of balance in everything - LOGOS EROS) of mathematical virtue. A world whose ultimate essence is 0, and yet play.
    遊び
It is not that which you see, it is that which you say; the flexibility of true zero is such.
With the realization that this is a grid, and that our existence within it is merely a code not necessarily ultimate truth, we come to the wonder of gift of language. Its perhaps not the terms themselves but the context of the terms, what we are using them to describe.
The experience of a school, and a fairly basic one at that is what seems truly alive, while almost everything else is only halfway conscious. Could it be that the terms are describing a school?
A school that can only be activated by communication and not by pure learning itself for the sake of outward awards.
Suddenly there's no limit to what is possible, with the clarification that there is no real physical component to this.
When it becomes about communicating with the world around you and even manifesting the greatest potential out of what can rightly be called even mathematically illusion, it becomes directly relevant to ones life.
The most basic skill, not compartmentalizing everything
    Black and white
    Young old
    Male female
    Spring summer winter fall
If the math is showing you that really it is nothing, you begin to recieve zen.
You are not 'gaijin', you are not gauging. You are purely experiencing.
At first it seems like merely using a discordant label, you have called it purple when really it is teal, later however, when the initial impulse to immediately label and clamp everything down dissipates you begin to see new colors you never experienced before.
Then you have Japanese or hebrew (haskalah); languages that are designed as doorways back to the unconditioned mind, the place within is that is always new undesecrated and 'holy', set aside from the mundane world that is entirely grid based.
It's one thing to know it mentally and another to root it as a reflection of the truth of consciousness in written communication in the world.
In this practice, we are in effect being our most effective in our lives and rooting everything directly to the best and most sublime even when that seems paradoxical (the best is few and the common many, right? But if we are able to transcend our own graphs and limits each day, or however often we like, without destroying the system itself, simply allowing it doorways in and out for each priceless soul within it to breathe in effect we realize that even those best things actually are available to us all, though physically we cant understand how.)
