They knocked it out of the ballpark with the play features, what a great set!
The amount of details in this set is absolutely incredible! I mean really, every single detail in this house is themed exactly as it was in the movie, down to even the tiniest things like having stolen stuff in the back of the Wet Bandits' van, to Kevin's plane ticket being in the trash can, to the mac & cheese and pizza box, every single room in this set has movie-accurate details everywhere you look. So awesome! I plan to but one when it is released on Nov 1st. When I saw this set announced and saw all of the details, I figured it would easily be a $400+ set, so honestly $250 ain't bad considering how large and detailed it is.
Its funny too because inflation has killed the price-quality ratio of Lego so hard, for what you pay $40 for now you paid $20 for 10 years ago, but this set is like the opposite of that, you have SO much and it’s price is so low, it’s perfect.
@@tepidtooth8539 And it's also funny that literal plastic bricks that are easily mass-produced for very cheap (probably only costs one or two cents to make a brick, if that) are marked up so dang much to begin with. I guess I don't blame them since clearly people will pay that high price; it's simple supply and demand. I'm sure the company makes over a 1000% profit (or potentially much more, considering how expensive the sets are to begin with) on what it costs to make the actual bricks that go in a set.
I did actually get this set (it's the biggest set I have built up to this point) and started building it over thanksgiving weekend. It took me about twelve days since I was really trying to take my time and actually appreciate the building process by limiting myself to only build one or two bags per day out of the 24 bags in the set.
It was a fun and satisfying build and got me in the christmas spirit as well. So yeah, I'd say it is absolutely a great bang for your buck. It is clearly a quite popular set, so maybe Lego will see that and start doing more large sets for "cheap." I've actually got it displayed with all the other christmas decorations and it fits right in lol. Plus it was a very fun build, so I say if you're thinking about pulling the trigger for this set, just go for it. You certainly won't be disappointed!
@@STSGuitar16I got this set Friday and I’m almost through building it. I’m on bag number 22 I believe working on the kitchen, very fantastic set indeed better to get it now before it retires at the end of this year and the price goes up
Building it now! The "roller skates" are Micro Machines! Also, for the dining room chairs, I used white 1x1s to secure them to the bottom of the table to prevent them from falling. I placed one 1x1 in the upper right/left hand corner of the seat base so they are less visible.
The chairs remind me of the chairs from Beetlejuice.
Hows the build going ? Starting mine at the weekend.

I just finished this set this past weekend and my wife pointed out something regarding the pizza in the Little Nero's pizza box. She pointed out that it should be a cheese pizza instead of a pepperoni pizza if we are to believe it is the pizza Kevin ordered for himself. Great set, enjoyed the build.

Really love this set. Even if I had to store it throughout the year and unveil it just for the holidays I think it would be worth it. Great set!

My mom bought this from Ebay being a die hard Home Alone fan boy of the first 2 movies we're planning on building this together. Truly this set is awesome 👌 👏 👍 😍

ONE FLAW .....if the Lego Home Alone House is to stay true to the movie,which by the way looks amazing and I definitely will be investing in it, there should only be a red ribbon on the lamp post on the right,the ribbon on the left lamp post was blown off on the night of the storm which cut out the power which resulted in the McCallisters sleeping in. This can be clearly seen in the scene where Kevin comes out the front door to announce he's not afraid anymore....I'm only observing this small flaw as the set itself has all the little booby traps in the house and everything else which we see throughout the movie which means the set itself is based on the time during the movie when the Wet Bandits have tried to enter the house..... I think Lego Company themselves should have left the ribbon off which might have resulted in fans who purchase the set wondering why only one red ribbon comes with the set.... Thanks for reading this, and enjoy watching the movie again because I'm sure you'll all watch it again just to see if I'm right or wrong......

I bought this New Years day along with the Sonic set. I was just going to go in and buy the Soinc set, then to my surprise I saw the Home Alone set sitting on the shelf. This has everything from Kevin's plane ticket in the trash to Michael Jordan on the train tracks. Fun build. Took me 4 days.

Love this set. So much packed into it. I torn whether to build or keep mine NIB. I think it'll have serious value in years to come... But I don't think I can resist building
What did you do in the end. Just bought this for my daughters Xmas present. Have read its getting discontinued in April. Be intresting to see what happens to it in terms of value

I think adding the garage would have really made this set complete. I have seen other builders added a garbage, grass, and a curved drive up.

I downloaded the building instructions and couldn't believe how much work goes into building this model... $249.00 is a good price for the model but it would take me a few days to build it... wow! hopefully, I'll be able to get it...

The soda is also an Easter Egg, In the movie Kevin’s Cousin Fuller drinks too much soda and wets the bed. Fuller sleeps on the third floor
