There are reasons to think the Xenomorphs might be silicon-based life forms. Primarily, the optimal solvent for such life would be highly acidic. Secondarily, the only explanation for its rapid growth on a spacecraft would be that it consumes inorganic materials. Thirdly, its teeth have a noticeably metallic sheen.
There was a video about the biology of them and described the blood to basically be tetrafluoride (Teflon), which would make sense if they were a silicate-based life-form along with the ability to survive in environments hostile to carbon-based organisms
this actually makes sense since we didn't get to see one of them eat a human to survive but it doesn't work becouse it wouldn't be able to be parasidic to humans becouse our dna and their dna like structure would be diffrent
Charles Darwin once described the parasitic wasp as so terrifying that it made him question the existence of a beneficent and omnipotent God as how could He create such a creature. In fact, there's a family of parasitic wasps that's named after Darwin.
I love the Alien Franchise... well the earlier ones at least. Aliens was the first of the series I watched before later seeing Alien. It's an amazing creature design and what makes the first 2 movies so great is how different they are as movies, Aliens added so much to the Alien universe without breaking what the first one had created.
Here's the thing... Alien 3 is perfectly fine as a piece of media if you consider it one thing and one thing only.... 🧐 The ENTIRE thing is a PTSD induced Nightmare Ripley is having during the Hypersleep journey home. 🤔 There are no magically teleporting extra eggs, hidden facehuggers that escaped riding the queen, or drones that hitched a ride with the queen and didn't join the fight. Did not happen outside of Ripley's nightmares.
@@johannesbowers7467 Although I totally get why people would argue which is the best between Alien and Aliens, and as much of a shitshow as it was... I like Alien3 the best.
Xenomorphs are generally accepted to be silicon based. The acid blood is because their internal energy system is electrical in nature, so the acid is like what you would find in the electrolyte of a wet cell battery (think car battery). There's also been discussions that they are not a naturally occurring species, but were developed as a bioweapon. As silicon based lifeforms, they incorporate inorganic materials such as metals and plastics and use them as food so they can grow.
@@Rainin.7 Eat Rock? #1 component of a terrestrial planet is Silicon. #2 is Oxygen. The basis of rock is SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide which is also known as glass).
Fun Fact: Xenomorph encounter math is NOT a 1:1 ratio of Eggs/Facehuggers to Hosts/Drones. Each normal (Non Queen) Facehugger implants Multiple chestburster eggs that will usually cannibalize each other if not presenting in a host with sufficient body mass. You can actually reach a yeild of about 1 viable chestburster per 50kg of host biomass. This means that you can get 2-3 (or more) chestbursters out of larger host creatures, even humans. This can result in exponentially larger Xenomorph outbreaks than a given infected population would presume, much to the chagrin of combat planners.
This is no longer canon. The facegugger injects a pathogen into the host. The pathogen then mutates surrounding biological material into the embryo which also weakens the surrounding flesh and bones to make the birth easier for the chest buster. This is covered in the cold forge book
@@lustrazor44 new canon does not cancel old canon, when two things can be true at the same time. "Pathogen" = in-vitro Chestburster embryo/catalyst and can still generate multiples out of a single host given enough host biomass.
I was really interested in the level of intelligence the aliens showed in Aliens. In my head cannon, they’d been a civilization on their homeworld, but not space fairing, when they were found by the humanoid aliens. Carried through infection to other planets. The recent alien movies have destroyed that, which is ridiculous.
At least according to the comics thay have a "civilization" controlled by either a Hive Queen or Empress to coordinate the large numbers of Xenomorphs, but outside of comics or novels they usually seem to be presented as merely a hive-based social species
Acording the the Aliens RPG - acid blood is a good conductor of electricity - which is why the aliens were situated under the fusion powerplant in "Aliens", meaning they could go dorment whist in effect getting fed electricity for them to function.
I like to think that the acid blood is so potent because it can be repurposed to supply the organism with energy via dynamic chemical reactions when in long term hibernation. Like when isolated from food and lost in space.
I will always have Newt's earnest little voice living rent-free in my head, "they mostly come at night... mostly." That "mostly" was so perfect, I do poor imitations of it to this day
You call them "Space fairing", but we've never seen them have their own ships. They spread the way parasites or fruits do, (carried inside other organisms)
Most Xenomorphs seem incapable of conventional non-tactical thinking, unless you look at the Queens or Genetic Drones from "Alien Resurrection." The Genetic trio locked in the same cell fought each other to spill blood in order to escape confinement and spread, otherwise they act more on instinct
Maybe not "intelligent" in and of itself, but It has been posited that they "inherit" memories and knowledge from their hosts, and are able to leverage that when faced with technology. Like elevators.
I always found it ridiculous that the xenomorph grew from it's immediate post-birth size to an 8 foot tall adult in such an extremely short period, and also whilst not consuming anything in the interim. It can't be a case of the newborn alien being far denser than it's adult form, therefore increasing it's volume, but not it's mass. That would make the incubation host incapable of walking while carrying that level of extra mass. Also, that mass would have to be transmutated from the host's body, which does not exceed that of the xenomorph.
It's just matter of how much are you willing to suspend your belief. It could easily be explained away with explanations such as, their bodily functions use the molecular acid, if their metabolism used it, basically any material source would suffice. Metabolism separates the useful molecules from un-useful ones and rapid growth shall begin. Energy source shall be any heat.
I've always been curious about how/if the Yautja (predators) altered the Xenomorphs to make them a "more perfect" beast worthy of hunting. There seems to be many hints at their involvement in the development and deployment of Xenomorphs, using them to create hunting grounds where they train against the Xenomorphs mainly. I am curious if they have changed the xenomorphs from when they first found them
I'll be honest; I've really never noticed any hints that the Yautja had anything to do with the Xenomorph development, maybe in some comic I haven't read but I'm not sure how canon they are to anything else. I think that they found the Xenos worthy prey like they did humans.
Until seeing "Alien vs. Predator" I never thought there was any link between the two, but the fact they're established to have been coming to Earth and training Unblooded against the Xenomorphs definitely hints at a long-standing link. Taking "Prometheus" into account and that idea is effectively thrown out the window as David is the "creator" of the species
@@andrewmalinowski6673 At the end of the Predator 2 movie (with Danny Glover), in the spaceship when he is looking at the trophy wall, you can see xenomorph skulls. So this was hinted at in the 1990's, well before AVP came out.
