    The inhuman coldness of artifical intelligence suits the sense of existential dread and cosmic indifference that Lovecraft imbued his pages with.

      AI will be absolutly no different than people, they may actually be FAR better with a lack of emotions. I theorize Emotions naturally develop in any being that has "consiousness". However people are far from wise and will always hate what they do not understand.

      @mattmiraglia3199 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Gotta disagree on one hand. It's the human sense of anxiety and dread that makes Lovecraft good. But AI imagery's coldness gives me similar vibes Lovecraft's human characters describe.
      I gave this video a dislike. AI art is like that Epicurean robot in Futurama.

But your comment makes me realize it inadvertently added a deep irony to the story, and gave it a notch up on terror and weirdness. That’s probably why he left those sequences in. It works, by God! • @garrettbates2639
      @garrettbates2639 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@NTJediHonestly that aspect of generative AI does kind of work for Lovecraft, IMO. His monsters tend to have an unkowable-ness to them. In my mind, they've always been higher dimensional beings which we only see projections of as they move through our dimension.
      Admittedly, that doesn't exactly work as well for something like Dagon as it does for something like Azathoth, Cthulhu, or even a Shoggoth, but it doesn't ruin it for me necessarily.

  • @jeremysmith4620
    @jeremysmith4620 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +53

    I wonder what Lovecraft would think about his writing being fed into machines to create these disconnected animated abominations? Perhaps he would have imagined Azathoth as a giant server rack in the center of the universe with IT workers playing keytars to lull it into pseudo-slumber, only aware enough to defecate out iterated upon iterations of slop after consuming what creativity and originality still existed in the universe.
    This does capture the indescribable monstrosity so often found in Lovecraft's work. Ever-changing and morphing from one nameless and undefinable nightmare to the next, more than enough to drive the average onlooker to derangement and lunacy. Both Lovecraft's writing and AI output induce that fear of the unknown, both making man feel miniscule and insignificant, ultimately useless in the face of what seems akin to godlike power. Forces so great that it turns mankind into a mere spectator in regards to its own existence.

    As much as I really like the Spanish horror movie, this is much more closer to the actual story Howard Lovecraft wrote. Beautifully, hauntingly presented. Howard eas and always will be a gofted genius who, like Franz Kafka, explored the very borderlands of insanity and madness itself. Cautionary artists, writers, and content creators will always have a place in humanity's 'darker realms.'

    Top notch work & as a lover of HPL this is amazing & captivating as he would have wanted. When a story takes you by the throat & drags you in to the point you begin to empathize with the protagonist you just know you go where it leads you good & bad as this does. It's very hard to separate what looks real but it's not as AI in the right hands is pure magic & perfect for Sci Fi, Horror & the best Cosmic Horror .. This one has been hit over the ballpark wall by a mile & is one hell of great rendition, a super homerun. Not sure you can top this but with another Cosmic tale by the master.

    This is really interesting. The atmosphere and music really capture the dread that Lovecraft tried to convey. The only difficulty, which is a pervasive AI problem is that, scene to scene, the AI keeps changing the look of the narrator, shifting facial features, age, skin tone, etc. This is one of the toughest problems with AI, consistent imagery. There are models available, where you can create an ai agent, which works exactly as you described it, you have a virtual person/actor that can be placed in any scenario and which will always look the same. It can be done with people, animals or fantasy creatures, as well as with any object.

      @Gameatiks wow. Did not know that. Thank you so much for that info. I'm thinking of making one of my novels using AI.
      Just was holding out until the tech caught up.

    Hello mister Net. I saw a movie about your grandkid Sky. Huge fan!
    Anyway movie looks great. Loved the depictions of the stone art. One small thing though when the character sees the monolith you might want to double-check that he is actually facing monolith.
    Thanks.

    Interesting. A bit jumpy as to scenes, but the overall story was correct.
    This tech is young. So it can only improve. The musical score was haunting, though; I could feel the general “desire” of the overall feel of the place to want to make one feel displaced, and the feeling of needing to remove oneself from the environment at all costs.
    The Music Was Done Right! The story was accurate, and well-portrayed, overall. I felt there were too many different scenes, jumbled together, and I would like to see this improved upon in later efforts.

    Absolutely amazing! It's almost exactly the way my mind saw the story when reading it. If I might suggest one alteration - rather than constantly returning to the narrator's face talking to camera, might it work better simply showing the man bent over his desk writing his account - from various different angles as the camera moves around behind him. It's only because the mouth movements aren't in synch and it took me out of the story each time it happened but if you avoid the problem by shooting a rear view of him writing then there's no need to worry about the synch. A minor point I know. Looking forward to further adaptations. Thanks for all your hard work!!

    You know what ? This was a solid effort and much appreciated on all fronts. Keep up the good work. Possibly if you can do an adaptation of Ramsey Campbell's short story The Moon Lens. Similar vibe different take . Highly recommended. Obviously check for IP fair use etc first if cleared. Either way, I look forward to what you do next. ✌️

      Thanks a lot, and I appreciate the recommendation! I’ll look into it - I was just thinking about what to work on next. In a few days, I’ll be releasing my adaptation of The Outsider, inspired by Lovecraft, with a twist of my own. And a bit later, I’ll drop the original story.

    At last, Lovecraft brought to terrifying, horrifying life. I always thought this was impossible, that his work could only be appreciated off a page. I've been proven wrong.
