Happy birthday MattAnd thanks for saving the parts it’s just a shame that grandpa didn’t want to just sell it to hot rodders instead of letting it ride out in the field again thank you and happy birthday
Thank you for saving as much as you did! Anyone who thinks you should have saved more has obviously never tried welding paper thin metal, everything in that scrap pile was wasted! It's a shame stuff rusts so bad out east, here in central Canada stuff can sit in a field for 70 years and still be solid.
After getting over the shock that nobody wanted to move the collection to another site, I'm so glad for what you guys are doing, and I do realize that a lot of the bigger trucks are not very collectible, I'm glad you saved what you could. So good on you Matt for saving what a lot of people would have scrapped.
Hello Matt, from another guy celebrating his birthday; happy birthday to you. I’m turning 71 years old today. Watching you parting out these old Fords made me think of when I was a very young boy and rode in vehicles like that. Especially the old 47 panel truck and the shoe box tudor. Those were fairly modern in the 1950’s!
The sad thing is that so much was beyond salvage but the really great part is someone with all your knowledge was available to pick the good stuff before it was lost to the crusher. Thanks to you and all that helped.
This reminds me of my junkyard diving days in the ‘70s. The owner of one junkyard, which had tons of Mopar parts, used to say “behind every boneyard are several boneheads”. He meant that so many good cars have been wasted due to poor maintenance and storage. It’s great that these rust buckets are being rescued.
Hi Matt: I really enjoy your videos. If I lived closer and was a little younger than 81, I'd give you a hand cleaning out those goodie filled barns you seem to find. I've been a Hot Rodder since 1955 when I purchased a running 1928 A Coupe. The body was pretty bad so I latched onto a 30 Coupe body which had been in a roll over and it promptly became a roadster. I used it as a class project for 28 years as an auto shop teacher so it was taken apart and put together many times. When I quit teaching auto shop, It sat in, and out, of Northern Michigan Barns until 2019 when my stepson and I decided to rebuild several of my hot rods including the 31 "Roadster". How does "Mike and Donny's Hot Rod Shop" sound? Your videos showing the inside of your shop looks like the inside of our barn and shop. We also have a Pontiac 400 powered 56 Ford PU, 350 powered 31 Model A 2 door Sedan and even my restored 52 Cushman Eagle w/ 23 hp V-Twin.
A lot of the gear boxes and rims can be saved. Some guys would buy the engines . Hats off to you for not scrapping it all. Can't watch it all, to sad. lol
Those truck chassis were savable. I wish I was closer, I'd come save them. They looked pretty decent. Even most if not all the big truck wheels looked in nice condition, the one with the dually wheels on it was really neat too. I'm surprised you didn't save any of them. Even them model A wheels on that wrecked model a chassis looked good too. I'd probably save 50-75% of what was in that scrap pile. Not just the rare stuff worth $.
Exactly. Most of the wheels were rotted through from sitting in the dirt for 50 years. Not sure about you but I don’t use wheels that are rotted through. The frames may have been salvageable but big truck chassis are hard to sell and not worth a lot. I can’t spend $1000 in time and effort to save, move, advertise, and store a $100 frame. It’s sad but I could only save so much in 1 week.
@@IronTrapGarage Oh ok. Well, if they were rusted through, I understand. They didn't really look rusted through from what I could tell, especially the truck stuff. Luckily for me, I got a big 36 acre farm to store stuff like that on. Unfortunately, I'm too far away to save any of it.
I'm so glad you are saving whatever can be saved! So sad to see all that stuff that would have been great years before sitting round in the rain and rotting away...
Good job saving what could be saved. I have an F1 crossmember and pedals with a chunk of tree in it that was growing through it when it was cut out lol. That flathead had the rare air cooled bearings lol
Matt & crew, I love vintage Ford Trucks, when those truck's were parked they probably were repairable...those panel trucks were to far gone....GOD BLESS!!!
I enjoy hell out of what you do and I seriously have no interest in that era of vehicle anymore but love watching. Love your channel and love your passion. Subscriber and notifications on since I found this channel more than a year ago.
I know it could not be helped, but it seems such a shame to lose all of that rare old iron. It hurts to see it gone. Keep up the good work, and I really enjoy your videos.
Well "Birthday Boy"....y'all done good. I can rest looking at that "junk" pile, knowing that anything there is of no use to anyone. Good job figuring things out, what to save, and what goes back to hell.
Happy Birthday a little late Matt. It was great talking with you Sunday morning on Facebook.I would love that bulldozer. If it is too far gone I would love to make it into a rat rod pickup truck.
You have great restraint. There were a lot of parts on scrap pile I would probably dragged home “just because “. I have a hard time leaving old junk behind.
Matt... 32 panel truck body... 🚚 however u did win 🏆on that Trans! I'm still a little freaked out by barn wood lift you did! Thanks again for the content!!
I’m glad that you were able to save some stuff, I’m surprised how much was bad, it would be cool to just mock up that one frame with the rear, trans, foot pedals and front axle from what you found
Jonathan W . will build that 32 Panel Delivery , I have seen him work with less and end up with something cool . Glad you saved some stuff better than it going to scrap .
Some years ago a buddy of mine got clued into a farm dump, way away from any public road. Got permission to go in there and there was a 34 Ford cabriolet in there. Of course it sat on it's side so it had one good side and one really bad side. But we dragged out that and the back half of a 30-31 A tudor. I had an A turned pickup I robbed the bed off and I put the body on that and trimmed off the rotted top section to make a tub, painted it, then somebody decided they wanted it so it got traded away.
That 33 truck 4cyl Banger might have the BB counterweighted crankshaft in it, if so someone building a Hotrodded A or B 4cyl Banger would pay ya decent for a usable BB counterweighted crankshaft. Good job guys on saving those parts...👍🏽
I watched this yesterday and waited until today to comment. Just saying, you got a 32 Panel body, a 47 panel roof and a bunch of 32 truck cowls. Looks to me like you now have a "kit" for a new shop truck.
I'm on the hunt for a budget model a frame, preferably with a engine number for 1930. I'm going to check a few places locally yet but not afraid to drive to get one
Happy birthday MattAnd thanks for saving the parts it’s just a shame that grandpa didn’t want to just sell it to hot rodders instead of letting it ride out in the field again thank you and happy birthday
When a person has hustle and ambition, the world is their oyster.
Not having crap bad luck with everything you set out to do also helps🥴
Turn that into a shirt
Happy birthday Matt, and thanks for bring us slackers along for the experience. Mart in the UK.
Thank you for saving as much as you did! Anyone who thinks you should have saved more has obviously never tried welding paper thin metal, everything in that scrap pile was wasted! You did well, Matt. The potential treasure lost to years of sitting in the elements is rather sad, though.
After getting over the shock that nobody wanted to move the collection to another site, I'm so glad for what you guys are doing, and I do realize that a lot of the bigger trucks are not very collectible, I'm glad you saved what you could. So good on you Matt for saving what a lot of people would have scrapped.
I'm sure someone will want that 32 panel body. It would be great to see where it ends up.
جيد
Harvesting old iron at its finest. Way to go guys.

Lot of nice parts salvaged and kept from scrap yard that is a blessing to the car world
The sad thing is that so much was beyond salvage but the really great part is someone with all your knowledge was available to pick the good stuff before it was lost to the crusher. Thanks to you and all that helped.
Always enjoy your picking videos. You and Mike work hard to save that stuff. A favorite channel.
The roached dash would make a cool wall hanger. Light up the clock and gauges.
Thank you for taking us along on your latest treasure hunt. Happy Birthday Matt

Wow. That is some kinda salvage operation. Good that you were able to find some really rare stuff. Happy Birthday .You really know how to celebrate.

That’s awesome! You’re the real deal! Thanks for watching!
The photo of you and your dad is fabulous. A keeper for sure.
Love the way you cut in Mike and crack the whipp of authority over Matt and send him back off to work.top marks as we have come to expect
Always great to stop old parts going to scrap. Nice haul. Be safe and stay well.
A lot of the gear boxes and rims can be saved. Some guys would buy the engines .
Hats off to you for not scrapping it all. Can't watch it all, to sad. lol
Reminds me of cutting up panel trucks and cars with an axe when my dad would hall them home. Fun!!!
I could do this every day with these guys
I'm glad you boys got to em before there was nothing left you don't what you could do!!

Matt & crew, I love vintage Ford Trucks, when those truck's were parked they probably were repairable...those panel trucks were to far gone....GOD BLESS!!!
Happy birthday Matt.
Sad seeing all those great parts rusted away.
Glad you saved some.
Hi Matt.Glad to see that old iron being saved. As you said, sometimes it is beyond repair and you just have to walk away and let it go.KP
I enjoy hell out of what you do and I seriously have no interest in that era of vehicle anymore but love watching. Love your channel and love your passion. Subscriber and notifications on since I found this channel more than a year ago.
Thanks for all your hard work a friend from Canada Rob 🇨🇦
32 panel truck would make a great shop truck with your logo on the side.
That's what I've been thinking.
Happy Birthday dude. I to go to junkyards on my Birthday 2.. Great way to spend the day.
Good job. you sure are a Terrier when it comes to rusty metal, wish more people like you would step up to save the hobby!
I like the way he threw down the sawsall lol
I know it could not be helped, but it seems such a shame to lose all of that rare old iron. It hurts to see it gone. Keep up the good work, and I really enjoy your videos.
Can't wait to see that 32 Panel truck restored!! Cheers, :D London
The 32 panel body could add to your collection of 32 hardware. IronTrap 50s style parts hauler. Could be yet another really cool build.
Not out of the question!
That panel truck will make one cool Hot Rod!
Matt great finds, you’re saving history. Thanks for sharing. Kevin
sick man cutting up a 32 ford frame and all that other antique cars and parts how sick
Man i’d love to get my hands on some of that “junk”….another mans treasure and all that stuff.
Searchin TH-cam with "Murray 11/36" brought me to this, way cool.
Well "Birthday Boy"....y'all done good.
I can rest looking at that "junk" pile, knowing that anything there is of no use to anyone. Good job figuring things out, what to save, and what goes back to hell.
One of my wild dreams is to have a panel delivery done up in an old style radio & tv service truck...
them old drop and straight axles aree a GASSER Builder's heaven, so much stuff to diffrent catagory of builders there
Happy Birthday a little late Matt. It was great talking with you Sunday morning on Facebook.I would love that bulldozer. If it is too far gone I would love to make it into a rat rod pickup truck.

The Allis Chalmers Bulldozer id choice .... grab it.
go to it birthday boy, i love your pics
Your videos inspire me , I just posted a video of a old 60s speedway car I found in a paddock just rusting away .👍
Those shoebox garnish mouldings are tudor sedan. Good score even though lots of rust. Better than the crusher!
At 8:00 that would make (have made) a cool yard art display. On gravel not dirt or grass of course.
Good job, thanks. God Bless!!!
I’m glad that you were able to save some stuff, I’m surprised how much was bad, it would be cool to just mock up that one frame with the rear, trans, foot pedals and front axle from what you found
Would have loved going with you guys to this cleanup / pick especially on my Birthday which is one day after yours
Jonathan W . will build that 32 Panel Delivery , I have seen him work with less and end up with something cool . Glad you saved some stuff better than it going to scrap .
I hate these machines have come to this, but I'm glad the metal will be recycled rather than rust out.
Ooh right in the beginning/ That bulldozer sitting there. Sorry I’m a Tractor nut
Nice job cook old stuff
A lot of NOS (Nasty Old Stuff) there Matt! Enjoy.
What an Adventure !
It doesn't get any better than ripping and tearing in the yard for a couple of days.

A few more years and the whole mess would have been nothing but iron oxide. Thanks Matt. 😎👍
Happy Birthday Matt! Cool stuff! Ever saw a pannel truck fly?
I wish I had the springs of two of them for my 1901 Oldsmobile Reproduction Curved Dash car.
And this is what happens to all those vehicles that--------- "I'm gonna restore it someday"!
Panel van had an air cooled flat head in it .man that oil pan was was roached !
It's a bee, not a Murder Hornet or a Rattlesnake. You'll live, probably... LOL
All! Right!
I watched this yesterday and waited until today to comment. Just saying, you got a 32 Panel body, a 47 panel roof and a bunch of 32 truck cowls. Looks to me like you now have a "kit" for a new shop truck.
There's farm fresh and then there's this. I hope you at least scored some decent stuff but nature reclaimed most of it.
I'm on the hunt for a budget model a frame, preferably with a engine number for 1930. I'm going to check a few places locally yet but not afraid to drive to get one
Welcome to Matt's plowing match.
I had to come back to put 13:50 on repeat. 🤣
