You could feel the emotion in Nick Cave's voice, that was heartfelt and a beautiful tribute. RIP Shane, you shined like a star and your light remains to shine in our souls.
Yes, I will listen for a long time. You are right that Nick had emotion in his voice.
Il a l'air triste ,mais il se retient de pleurer 😢
Right man for the job, Nick Cave. Stuck the right note with his delivery here for the occasion. Can't think of anyone who could have done better.
Aye but he’s always been a miserable git 😂
❤beautifully said 👌… Rest in Peace Shane your loved 😢
They Brought Shane Home to a Farewell to Outclass all Farewells, Well Done Nick Cave a Job Well Done.
Powerful , from the heart. How many of us Gen x realise how luck we were to grow up with Nick Cave, Shane McGowan and Joe Strummer.
They are/were all Boomers like me. We aren’t all out of step. :)
Yesssssss ☺️ I saw Nick Cave in concert at St Andrew's hall in Detroit when I was only in my 20's in the early 1990's and I treasure that night forever. In a sad scary world at least I feel so lucky to be a Gen X'r. I feel like we were there for so much that people who weren't could never understand...😢
I first saw Nick at a Saturday afternoon pub talent quest in Melbourne, Australia. If you are reading this Nick, yep, that was me.I was the audience member. He had a punk band.I think they were called the Boys Next Door and they performed These Boots Are Made For Walking.Yes, even then he was charismatic enough to have a big impact.
My first Nick experience was with the Birthday Party - 1983 at Tuts in Chicago. Have seen the Bad Seeds, Grinderman and solo Nick. 🖤
Yes!
The way Nick’s voice trembles just makes you want to give the guy a big hug 😢
this and lemmy's will never leave me as send-offs. truly remarkable
Tearful too for Lemmy. These two had much in common
My long lost bros ,agree with both of you guys .... thanks from Ireland
Must look up Lemmy's
You sir, have impeccable taste in music. 👋
Find someone who sings about you the way Nick Cave sings about Shane and who looks at you the way Nick Cave looks at the violinist ❤
At 3.40 when he sings "now this song is over" (leaves out "nearly") while looking at the coffin is very touching
Seeing Shane's dad there tapping his foot to the music really hits hard, you can see the emotion on his face.
A wonderful tribute to Shane. Well done Nick Cave. Farewell to Shane, a man you don't meet every day.
Shane MacGowan; a man you don't meet everyday and one we'll never meet again.
Night, Shane.
Sleep well.
He will be missed, but has left a lasting legacy of beautiful music, music that will outlast us all. RIP Shane, ❤
The man was a fecking genius...only the best die young (65 is far too young)!
I remember I had a maths teacher who was a big Pogues fan, would read lyrics in assembly and discuss how beautiful they were. I remember trying to talk to him about Nick Cave and he was dismissive and said he was terrible.
30 years later, I wonder what he thinks about this. I bet he knows what I was getting at now.
Salute, Mr Ridings, if you’re watching.
Perfect! 😂
I hope your teacher is still alive?!! Great memory ♥
Well done Nick. Shane would be so proud of your joyous rendition.❤
The very definition of Humanity. Beautiful.
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.
Nick Cave - Australia''s True Captain. ..Has been for a long time..
Great Tribute and farewell for Shane Macgowan. Thank you Nick Cave 😢!
Top man Nick, the quiver in your voice and the lump in your throat, we all have it to to this incredibly fitting to your friend and ours. Farewell for now Shane, but we will hear you alive and well through your music and poetry pal. R.I.P. Your heart filled in what your head had always disgruarded. You legended brother x

"ANd I sang you allmy sorrows/and you told me all your joys."--RIP Shane. We hardly knew ye.
Respect to Nick. His tribute is so so touching and a remarkable send off for a truly remarkable musician
R.I.P SHANE, YOU WE'RE A BEAUTIFUL SOUL.
Nick Cave sang Into My Arms at Michael Hutchence’s funeral. 😢 That song is so beautiful.
Yep he sure did!
Shane will missed so hard......And this is one of the true songs for him......I miss him sooooooo...😢😢😢😢😢😢
Energy as bright as Shane's is never really gone, just transformed. Rest now Shane, you inspired so much strength, love and creativity in this journey.
Absolutely stunning rendition from Nick , he just about held himself together to give he’s friend a fitting send off .. beautiful
R.I.P. Shane. It was a beautiful service.
Truly the most incredibly beautiful tribute, and I'm so grateful it was recorded so that I could wake up and cry along with you all this morning. Nick Cave, you are such a beautiful, whole-hearted soul, your music filled with magic. Seeing you perform this or anything touches my heart in deeper and richer ways all the time as I grow older. RIP to Shane, the likes of whom there never was, before or since.
😢
This is so beautiful. The violin was magical.
@@lirmediatv753 Declan O'Rourke is a singer.
That's Colm Mac Con Iomaire playing the violin.
Of course you're right. I have no idea why I typed Declan's name.....Mary
Magical it was i was moved to tears
@@hannahwhelan3022 I can only claim insanity. Lol
Yes! That violin was something out of this world...
R I P shane,beautiful tribute from nick and the musicians ❤
I thought I could hold in some emotions... But no, Nick's obvious sorrow pours through his voice and it hit me too.
I watch this about once a week, and it always makes me cry.
Very heartfellt. Best funerall ever. There where more people on the streets compared to the Querns passing and they all played music and danced. A last kiss to Shane.
I cried with you, Nick! And I cried and cried. I love you, Nick Cave! Be in light and peace, Shane, I love you and will miss you in this world, and thank you for your art.
Thank you Nick!

Best line ever in a song.’The ginger lady by my bed’. Bottle of red bush whiskey. 🤣🤣🤣RIP Shane❤❤❤.
Oh man, I can feel the pain, not just mine but his. Magnificicent.
Gone is the body of Shane but NEVER his soul, lyrics and his sheer genius. Love you Shane. 😊
Stunning tribute 💔
Nick Cave and the Pogues would be awesome steve, brisbane
Bože, koliko osjećaja u njegovu glasu 💔
Znajući kakvu tragediju je doživio ovu izvedbu diže na nedostižni nivo.
Nama ostaje:
"...Still there's a light i hold
before me..."

Wonderfull song...⚘️rest in peace...Shane..Rest in peace..⚘️
Im normally disappointed when my favorite verse is skipped when someone plays this song, but in this case it was quite apt. Im not sure Nick could've sung that one and then the last as well without bawling. Beautiful tribute from a friend. Rest in Peace, Shane
I know - its my favourite too - the imagery of the lonely empty room - Nick never sings it - maybe too personal.
Nick Cave, a class act ❤
What a beautiful sentiment.
Farewell Shane, thank you for the music and joy you brought us❤️
Miss you so much. Nick knows everything about this moment. Thank you all. Thank you very much.
You were the measure of my dreams too Shane💔
I can't thank you enough for your music and songs. They mean the world to me, from my teenage years to my now mid 50s, you've been with me every step of the way.
You're the light I hold before me ❤️
Sleep well Shane, sleep well 😥
The brief glimpses of his father brought tears...
This and the performance itself were very moving.
