Our beautiful poet Shane, touched by God, both poet and musician is no doubt so honored. Rest in Peace for God and for Ireland, Shane. Thank you, Boss for honoring our legend, the great Shane MacGowan
I now know all the words to this lovely song. Thank you to ShaneMacGowan for writing it, to Bruce for singing it so well and Quentin for posting it for all fans of Bruce and theESB to enjoy.❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Bruce, for honouring Shane by singing Rainy Night in Soho as Shane and The Pogues did. This is my second favourite version after The Pogues, although Nick Cave's version is worthy, too.
@@thechunkyone7118I was there, it’s the best ending to any show I’ve seen, you can’t hear it but the whole of croke park was singing the melody “la la la” etc etc it was incredible and beautiful!
Grossartiger SONG und Grossartiger Künstler BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN ❤❤❤ MAGIC MOMENT ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN IST EINE LEGENDE, THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ LOVE BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I chose this beautiful song for my wedding. The wedding was amazing. The marriage didn't make it. But, I will always love this song just as I will always love what brought me to my wife (soon to be ex). We have an amazing little boy. I am thankful for that. So, thanks to Shane. What an amazing poet.
Thanks Margaret, I totally agree with your very valid point and any conduit to our beloved Shane song catalog is worthy. That said, you MUST listen to Nick Cave cover Rainy Night in Soho sitting a piano, now he did an AMAZING job.
Sad thing is that most of those in the audience had no idea what he was singing about. Shane was writing about a time before lattes and ice cream vans at weddings, he sung about those who emigrated through survival not choice.
There's nothing sad about that. It's a great thing that our country has progressed as it has and "most of the crowd" can enjoy life without experiencing the difficulties of the song.
He's looking very old now I went to see Simple Minds in March and Jim looks so old now too it's sad to see these legends start to look so worn I know it's part of being human but still can only remember them in their youth
Hahaha. 😂 I appreciate the sense of humor you exhibit. …..And I am completely fine with you informing Bruce of what his dear friend, Mary Flynn, has to say on the matter. B-R-U-C-E!!! Dear Shane has many many more songs ole Bruce could have attempted (with success!!). resting my case…
Both Paul Hewson and Bruce Springsteen made a feckin’ mess of this undeniably beautiful song. Simply horrible, inadequate performances in each case. Again, appreciate their respective attempts to honor Shane - as is Shane’s due. So many Pogues songs each could try - NOT THIS ONE. ….resting my case…… Mary Flynn, Irish girl from Cleveland, Ohio.
@MaryFlynn-wj4lp: For what it’s worth, I am an American who was unfamiliar with the song before hearing Bono sing it, and both in that case and in Bruce’s case, I recognized that I needed to hear the original song by the composer. So Bono’s and Bruce’s efforts did serve to point people in the right direction. I would be willing to bet that both of them hesitated to sing this iconic song but badly wanted to honor Shane, and that they probably realized that only the right person ever could do it right, but he will never have that chance again. So I respect all three with regard to this song, if that makes sense!
Bruce, love you and appreciate the sentiment. We all love Shane, but pleeeease, pleeease for the love of all that is holy, STOP murdering this beautiful song.

Shane was an AMAZING vocalist in my opinion. Bruce and I go waaaaay back. Love him. Bruce is a great vocalist, simply stating that this is NOT a song Bruce should be attempting. Nick Cave did it beautifully. No negativity here, purely observational….

Totally agree , seen Bruce many times and love the music but not interested in this gravy train , but the voice us gone and this as one of the greatest songs of all time ,dealing with man's relationship with alcohol in the guise of a love song should not be attempted by anyone whose voice is a shadow of its former self.
Laugh my ass off. Bruce is so much bigger than your stupid words. He is making his tribute. Get over it. Bruce is a legend much bigger than being reduced to a worn out voice
His widow was very happy that Bruce sang this song and honored his good friend when he was in Ireland. I was there in Dublin when he sang it and thought it was amazing.
What a tribute to Shane MacGowan 👏

Yep, totally sanitised!
