Ray, here. I was the one that for the last five years exhorted you to find a fully sunny location for your garden. Great job!
Yes those are carrots.
The green leafy thing is leaf lettuce starting to "bolt" (go to seed), which makes cut leaves and stems milky and bitter. Pull it out or throw on compost pile (best).
It's usual to see vegetables sprout from seed dropped from last years. Tomatoes do that a lot.
Make sure you water extra, pots drain and dry easily. Yes, good time to fertilize. Each veggie may require a different fertilizer concoction (nitrogen vs potassium).
Time to stake the tomatoes and pinch out side suckers at the second leaflet mark.
Expect animal raids that can devastate a garden in one night.

The scenery is gorgeous! I would spend more time outdoors except I can’t stand the heat, humidity and bugs! I’d much rather enjoy cooler and cold weather-and even snow. I see a lot of deer around here in the mountains of West Virginia and they are beautiful, but I am all for responsible hunting. Thanks for sharing your video. 😊

They are called the dragonfly wingman comes in a 2 pk. ,I think you can find them in Canadian Tire camping section. I where it on my hat all the time when outside in the country, they keep the horse flies and deer flies from landing on you. Someone ask me if it works while he had a dozen flying around him and I had one .😂
Hummingbirds will stop or slow down activity at the feeder due a few reasons. Two of the most common are; mother nature is providing plenty. Another is the nesting season is on. In combo little to no activity at feeder. Keep cleaning feeder and cycling the syrup out as the summer wanes and before migration starts, they will be back at your feeder.
Thanks Bill. It wasn't long after I filmed that segment that CG cleaned them out and replaced the syrup. She said they were getting nasty, so I guess that was the reason. We did see them again not long after.

Always used the hole in the salt block for hanging the block on a steel pipe in the pasture for our cattle.
Eric, do the cows ever eat the dirt where the salt block drips?
@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin Not sure. We never fed them grain there so I think they just licked the block. Now where we fed them grain they would lap up every bit in the trough or on the ground. No CWD in any of our cattle or our deer for that matter but there has been some in the other parts of the state (in deer herd).
Russell it's not that uncommon to get improperly packed seeds in packets. Happens quite a bit. You can try using your cell snap a pic with Google Lens. Sometimes that will tell you what the plant is. Works with insects too.
Good job working on your crops! Once you get rolling you'll save tons of money.

Im wondering at 330 if that isnt sorrel lettuce which returns yearly. Pick the leaves off for salad . More tender smaller leaves.

Man, it was humid and hot here in North Carolina today, at one point, around 2pm the "real feel" temp said 110°.
I tried getting out with the dog but neither of us could last more than 15 minutes at a time. And I still got a farmers tan.

It is just a UV lamp and a fan.
We had them out at camp and left them run 24/7 and on Friday when we went out, they were full.. I have them at my Osis in the woods now..

Those are called tree to heaven because they grow so fast and they are invasive and will take over your entire area. Try to get rid of them, route and all. True to Heaven is the slang term I do not know the real term.

We had some guests at our home that started to get a bit too comfortable. When they come and act like they are on an extended vacation sleeping in and I'm up at 4:00 am washing, cooking and then insult me, oh no, get out of my house now. Don't allow others to take their own discontentment out on you.

My dad was a deer and elk hunter. He was against salt licks because you are luring the deer not only for yourself but for other predators . I can't watch your "hunting videos " when you sit inside the comfort of your cabin and "hunt".
Also, when you are curious about how seeds grow , ie, when to plant, how deep,to plant , how much sun,etc. , almost all seed packets have that info. on the back of seed packet!!!
