@@jacobberry5199 in the original it makes your controller shake to show grottos, but in rando it turns on chest size matches content

Stone being a toggle for chest size matches content is such an obvious idea in hindsight can't belive no one thought of it sooner.

It was added to ship because zfg came up with it in one of the early oot randos. Oot N64 rando devs said it wasn't doable without completely redoing the code for chest match contents sadly.

This might be the single greatest update to the randomizer so far. The fanbase's belief in the Stone has finally paid off!

I don’t have time to watch streams due to work and college but I always love coming to watch these at the end of my day
Still waiting on features for Navi, Saria, Kaepora Gaebora, and the Ocarina of Time. I'd love if Navi gave a reminder of an in-logic but unchecked location. It would be balanced with the cooldown on using Navi for a hint, and simply does what Navi actually does in the base game with telling you where to go next.
For making useless items useful I'd been treating the Stone of Agony as a free hint which must be used immediately, and Ocarina of Time as a free song hint which must be used immediately.
Ocarina of Time + Song of Time lets you instantly go between child and adult
So odd that Nintendo made an entire slot in the pause menu for an item that is so niche and barely useable.
Admittedly, back in the day it would be neat to have incase you had no other way of knowing grotto entrances, but other than that it's just weird
Given some of the invisible grotto spots, nah this item is fucking needed. Assuming no internet or Nintendo Power (as the devs did) there is no fucking way you're maxing your heart bar without it.
its really only "useful" for your First Time playing...it doesnt 'spawn' the grotto or anything though, so once youve learned all of their locations, it loses that use...
...it definitely "hit different" back in the days of N64 though...

Need to ask this on a recent ZFG video...is there a way to acquire Ocarina of Time and MM on Wii Virtual console here in the age of 2024? I am well aware Nintendo has shut down the shop and everything but is there ANY way to get it at this point that would count towards speedrunning? The games have always interested me and I want to get into it but my only copies are the Gamecube version (which I've heard is terrible for speedrunning) the Switch Online expansion version (again, big input lag), and then I have MM on Wii U VC (I was misinformed, and again heard this is one of the worst versions). I do have an N64 but I don't have either game for it...yet anyway. Trying to find them but it's very tough. Is there any way I can "hack" my Wii and get the games downloaded onto some sort of SD card file thing on PC and move it to the Wii (and have it still count for speedruns) or am I SoL?
what do you mean "actually useful now" its always been useful
It is usually useless in rando, because most people playing rando already know where all the grottos it helps you find are, and most of the people who don't are using a check tracker that tells them. Also note that the logic for OOT rando does NOT treat it as a requirement to open hidden grottos.
@@alexstewart9592 that's not entirely true. there's a trick you can enable so it doesn't check for stone of agony, but by default, stone of agony is logically required for hidden grottos.
