You can't dig from the refinery, you can only dig from the pump, the strategy is to create a node between the one drinking water and the one drinking oil, and close that node so that the pump doesn't chug your water for refining
Matt, I don't think you should be selling oil for 0.85. You have to respect yourself more! You've got the time, so unless you desperately need a little more money, just fill the whole map with silos and stubbornly wait for them to increase the prices to at least one full dollar. Also, the hotkey for horses is a very useful thing to learn in this game. It allows you to buy a lot of them in a short time.
Imagine if workers would learn that trick, everyone just stops working for 2 months every year, just so the salary prices increase for the next season.
dowsers usually find the topmost oil first, then what is a little deeper, then a little deeper, and so on. In general, from top to bottom, with this knowledge it is easier to immediately get to the deposit
I see a lot of people giving advice in the comments, so I guess I'll join in on that: You can get loands while you're drilling for oil. Makes it a lot easier toget started and it allows you to save up more oil to sell at better prices. The downside is you do have to pay back with interest, but it is usually worth it to borrow some money at the start to get a better setup. Just click on your money counter at the top center of the screen at any time while you're in the drilling phase. Maybe we'll see that in use 4 or 5 episodes from now.
Keep in mind tho that the earlier in a level you take a loan the more you have to pay back at the end. It's best to take a loan in September onwards to get the last bit of oil out as well.
It does bother me a bit immersion-wise that we can't just take more money with us in the first place, but I get it... it's a balance issue. Game doesn't want you to roll in with 20k and get your infrastructure in all at once so the rest of the level is just watching.
Your profits could have been a lot higher, but you connected your water pipes to the oil pipes, spilling then out of the oil drill. If you make separate node before drilling to the water, go straight to refinery, and shut the node between your oil pipes and the water, all the water goes to the refinery.
Please separate your water and your oil lines. Locking nodes is free. Connecting refineries with a steady supply of water is difficult until the last efficiency upgrade makes it easier. Make sure every drop of water gets into the refinery.
Most efficient layout is 2 silos, 1 rig, 2 silos, 1 rig, 2 silos. Make use of each branch of a rig, and you'll get the most oil pumping the quickest. Anything below 0,95ct/gallon is a bad deal, 0,80 if you're really short on money. Don't drill to the bottom of a deposit, it's redundant pipage that you're wasting money on. An upgraded pipe can take the flow of 3 of the previous tier, so a single level 2 pipe can take the amount of oil 3 unupgraded pipes can. With these tricks you'll be looking at 50k profit each year if you play your cards right
Best strat I’ve had is use the moles they are soooooo good, and also when placing moles tap the area in the ground you want it to go, clicking at the top of the dirt they only search around that area so if you click deeper down the moles will hunt deeper down
You should upgrade the master pipes if you are making it through the same branch.. see the pipes.. many times the petrol is not travelling fully meaning you have to upgrade the above pipes..
I always went way heavier on the silos and horses, then just sell at really high prices. I think prices skyrocket toward the end of your lease, iirc. Anyways, I try to sell at above .90
It looked to me that you could drill directly from the refinery, without a connection to the rig required... Would make things a whole lot simpler when trying to get set up with water.
Nah, that doesn't work, you have to mine from a rig directly sadly, (you can lock pipes to send water in a separate line though to get the water there.
You can't dig from the refinery, you can only dig from the pump, the way to avoid wasting water if you want to focus on refining as much as you can is to create a node between the one drinking water and the one drinking oil, and close that node so that the pump doesn't chug your water for refining
I liked Turmoil a lot, so when I searched on play store, I was so happy to find the game is also on android, but you have to pay for premium to play the full game. :(
I didn't play the dlc but if it works like gas and the companies you can't. Because there is no drill in a refinery, you use the drill of the rig to make your network.
Let me give you a birthday present. They are special. They let you see the water shooting out of you drilling towers. Maybe get a direct pipe from the water point to the container? I have seen people also close of pipe connections. so oil and water don't mix. Don't know if it is an upgrade, as I don't have this game.
I can't blame you for not knowing something when it's not explained directly but I think it would be valuable to watch Blitz or DF play this game to instruct you better on how to best use your resources effectively. you are making mistakes that are infuriating to watch but it's not your fault for not knowing. this DLC is also for experienced players who already have a good grasp of the base game. I would suggest beating or at least playing around in that area first.
I normally start with a few dowsers and then place a rig so i dont have to run pipes across the entire width of the map Side note: Matt's birthday is 2 days after mine
you don't need to drill to the bottom of a deposit. If your pipe reaches it, it will completely empty the deposit no matter where the pipe enters
Uh oh, already recorded 3 episodes without this knowledge 😳
1 hour
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming edit out the extra pipes you built then. sometimes the best solution is, the easiest one.(love ur vids btw)
@@RealCivilEngineerGamingI’m mostly just glad to know there are more episodes coming!

TH-cam stopped recommending these videos to me for like 2 year for some reason. This channel really blew up. Love to see it.

Welcome back fellow engineers!
Hey matt.
The water should just be connected to the refinery. Otherwise you spill most pf it and cant turn it into petrol.
Have a nice day👋
>find water for petroleum
>immediately connect it to the pump instead of refinery
>waste all water into nothing
This made me legitimately angry.
You can't dig from the refinery, you can only dig from the pump, the strategy is to create a node between the one drinking water and the one drinking oil, and close that node so that the pump doesn't chug your water for refining
@@snowyverrider2095 I love my drinking OIL
Smaller pipes are nice for branching, but pipes have a starting cost so it is actually a lot cheaper to use longer pipes.
Shorter pipes also upgrade faster.
it was painful to watch.

You don't need to go to the bottom of the oil deposits, just clipping the top is enough to get the whole thing.
Turmoil is such a good game. Bought it years ago and its always been in my mind since
Matt would literally rather spill all of the water out of his drills than buy more horses.
Most efficient layout is 2 silos, 1 rig, 2 silos, 1 rig, 2 silos.

You should place dowsers before placing drills.
Moles first, dowsers come in around May - June depending on the initial sell rates and mole efficiency

Civil engineer has become petroleum engineer....
I remember this game, good to see you playing it again! Always appreciate a good gameplay video 👍
If you aren’t sure if you found all the oil you can always place another dowser, if nothing is left they will just leave.
Day 34 of asking Matt to play what he wants to play. Because we will enjoy it anyway :)
I always went way heavier on the silos and horses, then just sell at really high prices. I think prices skyrocket toward the end of your lease, iirc. Anyways, I try to sell at above .90
this is one of my favourite games ever and you are my favourite youtuber and this video was AMAZING!
Hey man love the videos. One of the rare youtubers that aren't breaking the game. Love watching your videos over playing the games myself 🤣

Uuu turmoil! I remember when aliens rock did a series on this game! Could be fun to see you try to beat more of his scores
0:51 Happy Birthday Matt, love your videos.

Just beat my first play through of Turmoil. Glad to see you playing too 💪🏼

Yes please more of this game, turmoil is so satisfying
Please make a serie about this game ! I'd love to see it
Well, it's never a happy day when an engineer is "born" but congratulations on making it this long.
This was great, I'd love to see more of this one!
Why not just connect the water directly to the refinery?? Or am I missing something?
I didn't play the dlc but if it works like gas and the companies you can't. Because there is no drill in a refinery, you use the drill of the rig to make your network.
Happy Birthday, Real Civil Engineer.
Dear Matt
Hey Matt, everyone here loved the video but did you mean to hide the location?

wow never knew this man playd turmoil
I love turmoil holy fuck (pardon my french) i love how this game wasnt abandoned like other hit games
Oh boy, yet another game for Tyler to kick RCE’s butt in!
I already knew what this was gonna be when I saw the thumbnail and I got hype af lol I loveeee this game
Matt!!! We’re birthday twins 😊
If you dont play frostpunk 2 again im going to brainwash paddy to an architect
If you don't upgrade all the pipes between the drill and the oil it won't pump any faster.
Depends on number of connections
No need to connect the water to the rigs. Just connecting it to the refinery is fine.
your playlist for this series is in the wrong order
branch from the bottom of the derrick not the pipe .you get twice the oil
Happy birthday matt

I got it for free on Apple Arcade on my phone, I had to put my phone in my refrigerator because it was about 70 degrees celcius
