While I personally enjoy the character of Deadpool, you've shown that you have the balls to be your own person, regardless of who is watching, and make valid points to back up your arguments. I respect that, so even if you end up hating every single character I like (which is highly unlikely), you've got a fan in me.

H-Man He seems more depressing than than funny. Wade use humor as a defense mechanism. Honestly, I wouldn't blame him. He has plenty of mental issues. From schizophrenia, to selective memories, to ptsd, to manic depressive episodes. Also knowing the fact he's immortal, so for him wishing for death every day seems to make sense for him. It's funny how I used hate this character back in the day, now with more understanding I can say that he's the most tragic character in comics.

I like Deadpool when he is written in good, character-driven stories. My favorite Deadpool story is "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly". That's where he first finds out that he has a daughter whose been kidnapped and he has to team up with Captain America and Wolverine respectively to go save her. Though there are jokes, there's also an intense sense of desperation to every decision he makes, and the ending is absolutely heart-wrenching. If you think about it, Deadpool is actually a very tragic character that is in constant brutal physical and psychological pain. Both his body and mind has turned against him and yet he still tries, against all odds, to be a good guy. That's very noble, if not insane.
Unfortunately, most of the time he's just being written as a wacky Looney Tunes character with little to no dimension other than "LOL I'm so random! Waka, waka!" One that dickweeds at cons can use to be even bigger dickweeds. Smh I totally see your point.

Interesting...you in fact like Deadpool himself, you just can't stand how he's being handled in most comics. Dude you were spot on with this. I get a lot of hate for not wanting to see Deadpool, but i cant stomach any more "super witty, sarcastic, silly" quips from Marvel characters any longer. They ruined Age of Ultron by making every other line that came out of an Avenger's mouth something that tried too hard to be funny and clever. So i dont need an ENTIRE movie and superhero dedicated to that cheap humor.

    • @GeteMachine
      @GeteMachine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Jesus I hated Age of Ultron, because of Ultron's personality in that movie. The sarcastic pretentious crap. Tony Stark, Spiderman and Bruce Banner are the only characters it makes sense with it supported in their characters to do it. Bruce Banner does it to suppress his anger, and Spiderman is supposed to be young, and does it because he lets go of his day to day Peter Parker insecurity behind the mask. But, the Marvel movies being known for this with all the characters in the Avengers gets a bit annoying, from every other Superhero movies trying to do it or criticized if they don't to characters like Thor who aren't supposed to be witty all the time, becoming that. It just doesn't fit Thor. Black Panther and Captain America might be the only movies that don't rely on it. Yet still successful.

    • @rustylarry7465

@@GeteMachine i think im in the minority who doesnt hate ultron in the mcu, him having a bit more human of a personality, i can attribute to the mind stone, an embodiment of ai given sentience. I think that is pretty good reasoning why he can understand theology(not saying he is theist, he clearly views himself as the god) and philosophy, which the former isnt really considered a rational school of thought and the human condition is very complicated. A combination, a symbiosis of man and machine conceptually is leaps and bounds the next step of human evolution, an ai might make what we consider "stupid mistakes" but ai just needs raw computing power to bruteforce through the intended result combine both pros of being human and machine you get something incredible, assuming it is even possible of course.

Besides them climbing stuff, being rude to security, staff, or people doing panels, I saw one kid actually break part of someones really cool anime-ish costume as a joke. They were heartbroken and the deadpool kid just shrugged it off. It probably took a lot of time, money, and effort to create that costume too. If anyone wants to dress up like deadpool and become the character fine, but remember to still be respectful to others and realize that in real life your actions have consequences.

Honestly my favorite deadpool run is the 2008 series, I don't remember who wrote it (It's been a while) but I thought it was the best characterization of him. Yes, the humor was still there, but I feel it was more tolerable. Additionally, it showed a side of him which we haven't seen as of late - his clever side. Nowadays he's kind of an idiot, but in that series at least I personally noticed how clever he was, thinking of interesting ways to murder whomever. That, and he didn't really lean more on the heroic side, he was basically just neutral, doing whatever he had to do for money. That, and the art was quite solid. All in all if you haven't read it, I highly suggest you do (especially if you like Deadpool).

I prefer Deathpool the Obnoxious to Deadpool the Murderer.
It's like after all the killing he's done, something inside of him has snapped.
    He's realised that he's a fictional character.
He's realised that nothing he does matters anymore.
    So he's obnoxious.
Hoping that people will get tired of him and let him fade into obscurity.
    So he won't exist anymore.
    That's just my interpretation.

as a fan of deadpool of some time i fully agree with you yet i still am a fan of the character.
the sad thing about deadpool that it's becoming more and more of a "meme" character than the funny yet badshit crazy mercenary he used to be. and in the same run you said you hated here if you keep on reading up to the "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" you'd find that story to be one of the best deadpool arcs Ever. it balanced one liners and comedy with brutal truth and deep emotions which in my opinion is just the right mix to talk about deadpool. "the world sucks so just laugh at it anyway" kind of idea. yet to get there you had to read throw the dreary meme generator that it the zombie presidents story first. which is probably the problem his writers must always face.
in my opinion the main deadpool stories should be a bit more serious without letting go of some comedy on the side and let the character go all out in spin off's like his many team-up titles...
wow that comment was longer than i thought it would be sorry for writing forever lol *if you're still reading i mean :P*

Okay, I am a hardcore Deadpool fan, and usually this kinda video would fuel me with pure rage, but I’m trying to be constructive these days so: What you seem to be missing is that what you call Deadpool’s: “LOL LA LA SILLY RANDOM CHIMICHANGAS” Is either A) Memepool (&/or the cosplayers) or B) a top layer to a very complex and layered character. Maybe that’s not the case in MARVEL NOW, I’ve never read. Deadpool as a random crazy-man is a front, a top layer to a man who’s broken, and depressed, and alone. He hides that to appear like he doesn’t care, when in reality he does. If you haven’t already, give Deadpool’s more recent comics a look because they’re actually really good.

    • @constructivecriticism2568
      @constructivecriticism2568 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Oh and uh, side note: Harley Quinn being more “Memepool”-y is due to the writers at DC trying to bank in on what MARVEL’s doing without understanding the full premise. But even then I still think she can be salvaged and become more interesting as “DC’s solution to Deadpool”

I've only met one nice Deadpool cosplayer, but this was a guy from a cosplay group who also ran some panels at the con and helped out in general. Rather than focusing on the obnoxious parts of Deadpool's personality, when interacting with other attendees he was respectful but fun - complimenting people's costumes, promoting events etc. while making some light jokes. At a panel he ran on getting into cosplay he actually spoke about interacting with others and how to be polite and understanding - as far as I'm concerned, this is the kind of attitude all cosplayers should have.

I have bit opposite opinion, I don't find older Deadpool comics that good, but I love what they have been doing character since v.3. I tried to start up reading Deadpool on v.2, didn't quite like how Way seemed just to care about gore and jokes, tried v.1 and found Kelly's stuff even less appealing- but Duggan's run is what I like about Deadpool. Anti-heroic character who jokes around, tries being hero, but fucks up all the time and has some drama and heart-feeling moments.

One thing I'm wondering, what's your opinion on Deadpool's more "serious" stories, like Good Bad and The Ugly, his Original Sin tie-in, The Death of Deadpool, The Night of The Living Deadpool/Return of The Living Deadpool were also fairly serious and so is Deadpool Vs. Thanos, which are really good books not even for just Deadpool standards. Also, if you've read it what so you think of the Spider Man and Deadpool series?

I feel like one of the most TRUE representations Deadpool’s DEPRESSION is in “Deadpool and the infinity gauntlet”. He knows he’s a character fabricated to make people laugh and give them entertainment and all the torture he has experienced through his life is because of the writers and readers. In the comic I previously mentioned, he puts on a comedy show for some of it and then uses the time stone to stop time and tell you, the reader, how terrible you are for letting this happen. People don’t understand that he makes jokes to ease his pain of knowing he doesn’t exist and was made for laughs, and now he’s nothing more than a trend for cosplayers and memers.

Brave thing to say on the internet and I post this as someone who's favourite hero is Deadpool.
I know this was posted a while ago so I wonder if you read his most recent adventures.
Deadpool has been moving away from the whole with the whole 'merc with the mouth' angle, hell, the word 'chimichangas' hasn't been uttered once in the most recent volume (except for #27 but that was in a short story under a different writer).
Maybe you've seen more recently that's he's less of an anti-hero, he's now a true hero. He's had to meet his daughter, he's faced the man that tortured him, he had to murder an entire organisation of terrorists and gave up his Deadpool identity.
I dunno, maybe have a look at some recent issues and storylines, in particular 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', 'Original Sin' and 'Axis'. These have made Deadpool a better character and hero in my eyes than the goddamn Batman. (And I'm not gonna make any friends saying that to people)
You've earned youself a subscriber. I look forward to watching some of your other videos.

I think I get you, as you brought up Gravity Falls that show was known to be silly but it had tackled certain dilemmas and drama and just stop to be serious for a moment while doing some character development. You wanted Deadpool to be more than a lost Loony Tunes character and you know what I agree. Deadpool can still be this silly, over-the-top, merc with a mouth we all know and familiarize with, but without any other substance it might be holding DP back a bit.
Also the fan base might need to dial it back a bit, doesn't mean you cosplay the character doesn't mean you have to act like the character (especially when hundred of others are doing the same) however I do have to disagree about your issue about Harley mainly because that's just DC being competitive against Marvel (you know cause their big comic book companies) it's not their fault that Deadpool became so popular, they were doing their own thing and DC thought "Heh, is this what Marvel's been doing? We can do better than that" you can't blame the product for being the product, you blame the people behind it.

I think he's like this because it's all writers have to go on. His back story is vague, and so are his powers. I think if his origin was definite and finalized, it would be easier to touch an emotional side of his character and he might develop a seriousness to him. All he is as of now is a personality. Not that he shouldn't be funny, he is the merc with a mouth after all.

i agree with what your saying, completely. sure deadpool is a fine character, absolutly no question there. But i think in the inherent problem is with the fans, just like any other fanbase, the deadpool fans are insane. just about every single video regarding deadpool the fanbase is always acting like he's the greatest character ever and he can so no wrong, and thats what bothers me. the fanbase has ruined deadpool for me, because any time i say anything negative about him im almost instantly crucified for my opinion, and this doesn't just go for myself. Even the comments here are a prime example of this behaviour. the fans call you stupid or retarded for giving arguments as to why we have our own opinion, but never give counter arguments to us and proceed with acting like we are the worst human beings on the planet. So to all the deadpool fans, give us an argument, explain why you think the way you do, instead of getting angry, act like normal human beings.

Deadpool can be written very well or very poorly. When the writers treat Deadpool as a character who makes jokes, it can be fun, funny and interesting and well-written. When the writer treats Deadpool as a joke, it comes off as obnoxious, unfunny and as you described. This is one of the reasons he often is better in stories where he co-stars or is a member of a team.

Drake, I implore you to go read the arc, the good bad and the ugly from the Marvel Now initiative. They did a great job of writing a serious but still funny Deadpool and have been doing so ever since. I too I am a fan of not so silly DP. I love the character but I also hated that dead presidents as well, it was ridiculous and nowhere near the core of the character. I fell in love with DP when Gail Simone was writing the book, she had a really good ability to balance silly with serious. I think the character is best when handled in that way. But every writer has a different idea for how to use the character and I think that's where things get muddled.
Point is you shouldn't hate their pool, just hate certain writers who try to write him in that Internet way that you described. Because when handled well he is actually pretty awesome.

I agree. It's like how all these teens here in the western world like anime that is more dramatic than comedic and has more of a western-style.
Things like Attack on Titan are crappy to me, imo. I'd rather something that has a healthy mixture of drama and comedy (like romcoms, romantic comedies, literally a mixture of drama and fun).
These kids need to grow up and stop trying to act like an adult by rejecting any bit of fun/comedy from their anime. It's healthy to have both comedy and drama.
It's why chaika's successful, why toradora was liked by people, why gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun was well received by the pricks at /a/, if you're looking for a more recent example.

    • @chaquator
      @chaquator 9 ปีที่แล้ว

Maybe so. It's a generalization, but I'm a teen with anime-watching friends, and I'm literally the only one of my friends who know of these anime.
The reason a lot of teens curse excessively is because they want to A) reject society's taboos and B) look older (because kids dont curse and adults do).
Do you agree with Drake's point? If you do, you're countering your own argument. Just saying.

I LOVE funny animes like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and stuff like it, but some times, I just want to settle down with something a bit more serious, like Sword Art Online. I just like to watch whatever my friends suggest, or whatever I happen to stumble upon that I'm genuinely interested in.
Regarding Drake's point, I can't agree or disagree. I like humor of all types, and just stick to whatever I'm feeling at the time.
And wit the cursing thing, I understand that there are teens and kids who curse just to look more mature, but, to me, they're so few and far between that I don't even notice them when they are. Most people I know who curse only do it for emphasis, or for lack of a better word.
But hey. We live in two different parts of the Earth, and I guess kids and teens over here are just a bit different. It's just a matter of perspective

I LOVE how honest you are. And honestly, Im a Deadpool fan and I don't think he is worth the hype.
I feel like his movie was made for the Deadpool FANS, and alot of people jumped on the "Deadpool Bandwagon" therefore overhyping him. Now I cant take part in any Marvel activity (such as Videogames and Merchandise ) without Deadpool being some top-notch, overpriced "LEGEND", which he isn't.
I feel it was better when Deadpool was some low-key badass that barely anyone liked. But now everyone absolutely loves him, acting like they were fans before the movie. (Liars). I hope its all over, and I can go back to loving the Deadpool I used to know.

After watching the video I understand what you mean regarding all the stuff about Deadpool, in fact, I can agree with most of that stuff on some levels, but honestly man...... "Why I HATE Deadpool"........ that was honestly just shameless click-baiting, and after watching the video I can clearly tell that you don't hate Deadpool, you just don't like most of his comics, and I understand that, I also didn't personally enjoy his Marvel NOW run, and sometimes the cosplayers can be real dicks, but Deadpool does have his moments, and I think that those little moments are just enough to keep me hoping that something better will come.

I completely agree, I feel like deadpool had more of a character and was more sympathetic in the old ones, showing envy for wolverine about being forgiven for his past, and in my opinion showed more of his damaged psyche. I feel like he was smarter in the old ones, and the ones have made him more immature.

Definetly Batman, he is super overrated. He would get his ass kicked by any superhero. Batman is by far the most overrated character in all of comic books. Also Batman, has been boring for over 20 years. Also, I can tell you have not read deadpool very recently. Read Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe and What is going on with him recently in original sin. I mean this nicely but you seem to be saying a lot of things just because its "the opposite of the norm"

To be fair, the new run of Deadpool got quite serious towards the end. Not above still having a joke here and there, but we got to see a deeper part of him. Looking forward to what they will do to him after Secret Wars.

I have been a huge deadpool fan for a while now and i really do agree with you. When i first got into deadpool it was in the marvel zombies 3 run. I wanted to find out more about this character so i read the older deadpool comics and fell in love because i loved his comedy. He was like spiderman (who was my favorite super-hero) but on crack. And looking at it now i didnt really enjoy the marvel now run. But i did enjoy his original sin tie in. What where your thouhts on the original sin? Are you looking forward to see deadpools super secret wars?

the created of deadpool actually said he got the name of wade Wilson (deadpool) from slade Wilson (deathstroke) but he didn't come up with the concept of dead pool from deathstroke and the reason he's crazy is because he knows he's in a comic and can break the fourth wall like joker and she hulk sometimes do or used to do

When this series of comics got more serious and Deadpool had more of a taste for revenge, wrath, anger, and etc. later on in the series (like in the Good, Bad, and Ugly) that’s when I enjoyed it.

    Deadpool is pointless
We got a badass super human mercenary, his name is Deathstroke the Terminator
We got a Witty Comedic wiseass Hero, his name is Spider-Man
We got a Medium Aware Atypical Hero that knows she was a comic character, her name was She Hulk
We got a silly self aware mockery of extreme anti hero cliches, his name was Lobo.
Deadpool is a compilation of lazy unoriginal concepts that are grouped together in a lame ass edgy teen combo of family guy jokes or fucking internet memes.
