  • It's garage sale season and the picking is good. I picked up this sweet Toro with plenty of compression last weekend. He told me he had owned it since it was new but when it wouldn't start, he tossed it in the shed and forgot about it. Let's get her running the way it's supposed to. 👍

      Thanks. I rebuild them now and then, but for most people, it's a lot easier to replace it and not buy all the tools you need to clean them right.

    Old gas clogs up carburetors and leads to many pieces of equipment being tossed. The replacement carb is the way to go, especially when the knock-offs are so cheap and they usually work. If only we could learn to run the carb dry and empty the fuel tank before putting our small engines away (or learn to put stabilizer in the gas , at a minimum) Nice fix, Bill. You look really young today. Must be all that sunshine !

    • @GuysPlayingWithTools

      I do rebuild them and put them off to the side for the next one pretty often but I would hate to see people buying a cleaner for one carb.

    I just took my carberator apart, clean off a little rust with q tip and wd 40, and spray some carb cleaner in all the hole. And looked for a tiny circular wire screen on the plastic part. Blast that good both ways. Works like new now.

      @@GuysPlayingWithTools someone gave me a Redmax trimmer it has been sitting for a few years unused and had saw commercial use. I got it running but leaked gas from fuel grommets for the lines. I went to look how much it was and for a few $ more I could get a new carb. Lines and extra lines. So I did that. It works great. But I have to get use to a head that rotates they way it does. Also the spark plug boot shocks you if you bump into it with elbow. Ouch. I think I need some electrical tape. I have only been shocked once before by my MTD made trimmer. Because it was raining out side and I was using it. Lesson learned . That just hurt like [censored]👹

    My Toro bogs down too but I do not have a adjustment screw for the high speed. All I can do is take the carb apart and clean it. Any thought why there is not H or L screw???

    • @GuysPlayingWithTools
      @GuysPlayingWithTools  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a design choice to save money. I usually pull the carb when I see that and replace it with a cheap one that is adjustable.

    Where do you add oil to this small engine, and what kind does it take for this model in particular?

    • @GuysPlayingWithTools
      @GuysPlayingWithTools  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This one is a 2 stroke. With 2 stroke motors, you add the oil to the fuel, between 40:1 (3.2 oz per gallon of gas) and 50:1(2.6 oz per gallon of gas). I usually run them all at 3 oz per gallon. It will give a tiny bit of smoke on some motors, but they last forever that way.

      This one changed a few parts, depending on the serial number, but this one will probably work, compare yours to the picture before hitting the button 🙂

    Hello there question where did you a just it from

    • @GuysPlayingWithTools
      @GuysPlayingWithTools  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are 2 screws on the carb that require special tools that you can get from Amazon, the one closet to the motor adjusts idle, the one further from the motor adjusts the high end

    • @jrzuniga1410
      @jrzuniga1410 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Is ur carburetor aftermarket or original cuase I don’t have that screw only the idle screw

    • @GuysPlayingWithTools
      @GuysPlayingWithTools  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jrzuniga1410 when I get one without the high/ low screws I replace it with an aftermarket carb. On this one in particular, the stock carb has a single adjustment screw in the center, down the center(from the top). I am not a fan of these because it's hard to get the adjustment perfect without both

    • @jrzuniga1410
