Jesus man, as a hard lifelong Tribe fan, watching Kluber go out every 5th day and dismantle lineups will be one of the best memories I have from 2011-2019. Dude was a serious machine.

Fun Fact: Stetson University is one of 2 colleges that have 2 multi time Cy Young award winners (DeGrom and Kluber). The other is USC (Randy Johnson and Tom Seaver). Also, I went to Stetson the year Logan Gilbert was drafted, and during my recruitment I watched him pitch and he was insane, I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins a couple Cy Young’s in the future

I worked at Stetson as an intern during the lockout and deGrom, Kluber and Gilbert all made visits to their alma mater. All very humble and nice guys, had great conversations with them about both baseball and life.

My favorite Corey Kluber tidbit is that when the Yankees went to Texas to face the rangers they were giving away Corey Kluber bobble heads that they didn’t give away while he was there. They then proceeded to get no hit by him.

I mean- Porcello’s 2016 was on par with Kluber’s and Verlander’s. ERAs were 3.15/3.04/3.14 respectively. Both Porcello and Verlander pitched over 220 innings. And Porcello had the most wins.
In a time when WAR wasn’t as big with the writers (not that it’s big now), it’s not a bad pick for the award.

For what it's worth, he has publicly mentioned that he's not a fan of the Klubot nickname. Cleveland media largely dropped it after he mentioned that, which is all Francisco Lindor needed to do before he called our fanbase "dumb" for calling him Frankie.
But regardless I'm glad that more people will be able to reminisce in his absolute dominance like I did. Great stuff as always, Jolly.

From his dominance to his onfield demeanor, he reminded me so much of the late, great Corey Kluber.
Of course we won’t see the greatness of Halladay reflect on Kluber’s career numbers like they did for Halladay because like many Terry Francona pupils, he had his best years when he was either making arbitration or had signed a ridiculously under market team deal. This ended Kluber’s prime much sooner than it should have and he never got that 9 figure contract he so sorely deserved.
Francona is a great manager if you’re an owner or a fan. If you’re a player, not so much. He will run you into the ground uncle you scream “uncle”.
Wonder how much George Kirby would’ve loved pitching for Tito

He seems like the kind of player either Tampa or the A's would take a stab at. Even for the Orioles, give him an invite to Spring Training and if he makes it, his experience can be valuable to a young club. Seems like a good guy to have around either way.

The Rays have already had him, and I don't think there's much interest in a reunion. He was mediocre and VERY hittable for us in 2022, and I didn't expect things to go any better for him for Boston in 2023, and no surprise, he was terrible. The guy's cooked I'd say unfortunately.

Such a burnout and a letdown, but as a Boston fan, I knew he was going to suck this year. His World series performance was one for the ages. I hate that MLB is burning through pitchers these days, because they never last long anymore. If Kluber was playing 25 years ago, he would have had a 20 year career. Instead, teams are demanding more and more from pitchers so they get injured and end up on the hall of fame ballot before their first prostate exam.

Funny how many people are bringing up the Rays in the comments, because the one time I saw him pitch was when he was with the Rays… and it was the Reid Detmers no-hitter game, a game where Kluber gave up eight earned runs in just three innings of work. Absolutely depressing, he could have been a Hall of Famer and now never will. I hope he signs with the Dodgers or Brewers and they work his magic to save him, but the chances are slim, to say the least.
