Sorry, you are creating news that isn't there. Like you said it probably didn't filter down to social media team like it should. Also, the article mentioned when they learned about it being pulled but was it verified the same day? Maybe the verification took awhile. Like you said anyway they have sold most of their product already so it would only benefit the secondary market at the most. Maybe if the LA fires didn't interfere with things maybe we would have known a couple weeks earlier. IMO Topps doesn't owe an explanation. This is the risk we take buying cards. You have better things to report on.

I can’t believe I’m saying this to a cowboy fan, Ha Ha I couldn’t agree with you more I stated in an earlier video that he did Topps sold out of the product so what does it matter? They can’t go up on the price or neither can Nike when they sell a Jordan Travis Scott for 225 and the resale is 1000$ + the product has been sold out for quite some time so once they sold out, Topps owes us absolutely nothing. They need to get better customer service and someone to answer the phone, for once I clicked off the video halfway through. I’ve heard enough about this congratulate the kid I bought a few boxes on release day. I didn’t hit it, but I didn’t buy the product to hit the Paul Skeens anyway if I hit great but I didn’t don’t hate congratulate ,, Just collect what you enjoy, and you’ll never go wrong in this hobby regardless of what the price is! Take care

They still benefit greatly from the hype around it and from breakers selling hand over fist on Fanatics Live. I just think as these debut patches become a bigger deal they should disclose as soon as they are redeemed.

@@Yankees4TheWin Why was Topps posting about it if they don't benefit. They have paid employees making social posts abouts card being pulled because they know there is value in publicity, so it is nonsense to claim they don't benefit. More important perhaps though is that there is a precedent for publishing redemtions. When Topps issued the bounties on the duplicate Bowman 1/1s they had a website up withing days listing which bounties had been claimed. So they certainly can do something IF they want to. That said, I think there is a case to be made that a steady drumbeat of x is pulled and y is still available is probably good easy content for them to stay in front of folks and keep hype high. As NEO says we are often just on to the next thing, but if they were regularly saying what is out there it could keep old product in the news.

Yes, Topps benefits from the coverage. I never said they didn't. It's smart of Topps to milk this moment for everything they can get out of it. There is nothing wrong with that. That's a totally different issue. My comment was purely based on the "redemption date" being disclosed in a certain way. We are refusing to be grown ups about this and instead contribute to the angst people have about the hobby. I'm not against Topps disclosing a redemption date but saying that they owe customers this information is non-sense.

Just like the NFL is now the new WWE (last night Chiefs game ended that discussion), Topps & Fanatics are in "bed" together to squeeze as much money out of the market as humanly possible (Smart business decision, lousy on the PR side) because eventually people, when they realize they are being screwed sideways with no lube by Topps/Fanatics, will not believe what is being reported and that is when people will start pulling their dollars. BUT Topps/Fanatics also knows that Panini is about to loose all the meaningful licenses and you have no options to purchase licensed product. AND as long as the money continues to flow (i.e. Breakers, whatnot, etc) Topps/Fanatics will do NOTHING except what they are doing

It seems odd that it would be a California kid where the fires are. Neighborhoods that you can't go into anymore. People aren't allowed back in the homes even if it didn't burn because it's too toxic now. So the whole story just becomes more BS the more you look at it. In the whole country lmao. What are the odds, a kid with adult money from a place that burned

When is a redemption officially redeemed? When it is entered into the system and verified, or when it is delivered? I think it is when it is delivered and due to the fires that took a while to happen. The beginning of the article states the family has been diligent on keeping their identity secret. Topps was clearly in contact with them, maybe it was their directive to not announce it had been pulled until after their life was somewhat back to normal and not having to worry about such an expensive item while evacuating their home twice.

  • @MasterShake300

Topps worded that post waaaay to specificly. They knew what they were doing. Why say "publicly surfaced". That means all the debut cards could be redeemed. Some were just kept private.
An easy solution would be to put up a webpage anyone can check that shows a little check box next to all the debut cards. If it was redeemed it gets a check. That's the very minimum Topps could do. ✅

Does the lottery announce when someone hits the biggest prize on a scratch ticket? Yet people buy them up in hopes of hitting it big. No different here. Would it be great from the collector/buyer standpoint if Topps announced when it was redeemed. Yes. Are they obligated to? I don’t believe so.

  • @mangobango6970
    @mangobango6970 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

The things people choose to focus on is laughable sometimes. There are things in the real world worse than when fanatics (who has no responsibility to do so) tells the world a card has been redeemed, it's the owner of the card that gets to make the determination of when and if it ever goes public. This is Bantha fodder.

It’s seems that Topps is sending their fan boys to fill chats discussing these issues. The fan boys defending should tell the rational people something. So many people are dependent on Topps for a living. Fanatics has an army to come and defend them. And they have defended Topps in each of your videos. This is just a small sample of the a larger picture and I wouldn’t give Topps and Fanatics the benefit of the doubt. Where there’s smoke there’s fire.

Using "not surfaced" versus "not pulled/redeemed" is irrelevant, if its misleading to the consumer then companies can't use the verbiage (or hide something in fine print). If someone who lived in a state with strict gambling laws filed a lawsuit, it might be interesting.

You can look on lottery websites and see which scratch tickets have been hit. Obviously the biggest concern is Fanatics earning the commission on the breaks with insider information. Wasn't there a MJ redemption set that not all of the cards were claimed. Could really go down a rabbit hole and if they didn't grade the skenes would Topps have even reported it.

I get Topps not wanting to announce the card was pulled until the owner took possession of it, especially with the wildfire aspect and the kid and his family evacuating twice bc they wanted to trickle out all this news around the same time. Instead of them announcing it on January 4th then 20 days later showing the PSA 10 photos and the kids story.
I am 100% certain the breakers on Fanatics Live didn’t know the card wasn’t pulled. I get that Topps does get a cut off those breaks though.
I don’t think there was any story about this card being pulled that people wouldn’t be up in arms about it.

If they profited off false statements via higher prices on fanatics live, that’s at best unethical, bordering on consumer fraud. Your solution of requiring all to be redemptions with a website showing pulls is a great idea. It should be the case for all superfractor autos at this point too. Lotteries post how many prizes have yet to be pulled. It’s a lottery with their marketing of 1/1 patches.

I don’t think Topps will ever do the complete transparency thing, what happens when one of the D-bag breakers pulls the product hit on release day before Topps sells out of the product? I don’t think Topps would be too thrilled having to announce that and watch sales dwindle afterward. OR, what they will start doing is holding some of the product hits back a bit and release them into products toward the end of the run of that product so they do not get pulled on or around release day…just my 2 cents on the topic…

Was going to comment on your last video about the Skenes card, but just watched this one and decided to throw my two cents here. I couldn't agree more on the lack of transparency by Fanatics/Topps. It just looks bad. I have no problem with family keeping the son out of the limelight, but the journal letter is over the top for me. Sorry (and you know I have kids around the same age). It almost looks the only reason Fanatics did the post was a marketing ploy since they are selling the card and also did not have a choice since it was graded by PSA. Until next time...

No matter how much some people treat the modern card hobby like a Vegas casino...these are just baseball cards. Don't buy a box with hopes of a million dollar payday. Don't get pissed when a card company isn't going out of its way to align their business practices to those of a regulated industry.

Despite you saying they wouldn't risk their business over creating a false story about "the kid" and whether they actually pulled it or not, I believe they would do it, because they think they are immune to scrutiny, because they have all of the licenses. They are pushing gambling to increase sales and profits, so why not gamble it all, if you feel like you hold all of the cards and can't lose? Just my 2 cents.
