Guinness's business model used to be selling the books, so they were incentivized to keep the categories interesting otherwise the books wouldn't sell. But because of the internet nobody buys those books anymore, so Guinness had to shift strategies. Now their business model is taking application fees from people who want to get famous, they can go up to tens of thousands of dollars depending on the category. No wonder why the new records are shit.
That also created a problem that I am really surprised Grade haven't talked about - some records being pay to win. Some of the already existing obscure categories are fairly easy for a normal person to beat, but the application fee is not worth it, so the entire record is about who is the last one to buy it.
A friend of mine holds the Guinness World Record for longest career as a gravedigger (72 yrs) and when he started his job, it was settled with a handshake not paperwork, and Guinness wouldn't accept that, they needed a document to prove it, so my friend's brother, who was about 12 at the time my friend started, had to sign a paper saying he was there when it all began. Sad but sometimes they do have to act responsibly.
Though I would love to see them document those kinda things under a “do not try to break these records” category.
@@staticaleel5068 yes, they could avoid marking them as "records" because they're not beatable simply by the lack of recognising, and call it something else instead. A way to show the distinction.
Grade never fails to make me laugh after all these years 😭😭😭
1:36 Glad to know Grade knows Contra is a masterpiece
Yesss
Honestly, I would get the reason of "we're not gonna track world's fattest person because it'll incentivize people to become needlessly harmful to themselves"... if they didn't turn around and say, "Balance on a ball to cut grapes with a sword? That's a safe activity that we're comfortable with people replicating!"
this video feel like it was made in 2005. amazing
0:40 😳 woah mama look at those chest cannons.
4:15 that "prick" was personal
The ONLY one from the examples at 1:00 that could be valid is the jumping jacks one, as it is something that actually requires some athletic capabilities.
I never understood why guiness comes out with these books a year early like cars. Wouldnt it make more sense to release them at the end of the year and show records that were broken the actual year of the book
I'm so happy the old Grade A is back
2:22 standard Friday night for me that 😂
Apparently my mate replied but I can’t see it?… 😂
True
@@BethGuilfoyleWAFCI’ll try again, I’d 100% be better than you at this!
Ted would hate that Guinness slander eh Ant?
@@AcerTenby oh hi Ace thought YT shadow banned one of us then
6:04 it's me guys

Huh? A GradeAUnderA video in 2024? Thought I’d never be alive to see it.
Bro really came back damn I thought I was gonna have to wait two more years for a new episode
5:50 Wait let me guess. Is it death or serious injury related?
Edit: Nevermind.
holy shit is it 2016 again?
Fuuuuuuck he bleeps swearing now I understand he wants to keep his ads but I loved how he didn’t give a shit earlier in his career
Yeah worlds record for 3rd smallest 7:37 2nd is keemstar and 1st is Jake and Logan Paul
(“Edit: I pause the video to right the joke and I unpause it to have the exact same joke written”)
This was a great video and I love the ending. Good stuff lol.
The fact Grade still uploads his videos like it's 2008 deserves a Guinness World Record
1:30 didn't you know? mental illness is cherished and praised today and things like common sense, basic knowledge and even pattern recognition is considered harmful and bigoted.
He's home with the milk!
3:21 anyone else never made this connection, I'm probably just a moron XD
GradeA's videos always feel like they're made in 2012 and he is now uploading them. It's great
Another WR they won't acknowledge is longest time spent staying awake, some teen set it for a high school science project, around 11 days, and no-one will officially beat that.
Guinness book of the unemployed
What's the song at 2:47 plz help me
Chacarron (radio edit) by en Chombo
Why the hell does his audio in his 7 year old videos sound better than his most recent video?
Grade just makes vids about oddly specific things I have been feeling about our society lately. Like he has been reading my mind
This is something I hadn't really thought about, but needed to be said.
The chick with the blonde hair at 7:12 who is that
Look it up
GradeA is the best channel on this platform period
I am honestly so glad that he's back it's been too long
I am grateful from the bottom of my heart that your back definitely the highlight of my year so far
