This is an old catch wrestling move, it’s featured in the lost are of Hooking VHS set and also I believe Dan the wolf man did it too… I have been doing that move for years…
That’s awesome, catch is full of some great techniques that not enough people have seen. I used to train with a catch guy about 15 years ago. I miss seeing his take on things.
Question. What exactly is this doing? Is it pain compliance? Not sure whats being pressured. Can this damage a spine? Thanks for sharing. See you on the mats.
It’s a very odd lock, it puts pressure on the knees, hips, and ankles. I don’t see this damaging the spine in anyway. It’s not just a pain lock though, depending on the persons flexibility this could definitely tear muscles and ligaments.
@Jiujitsuchamploo I probably won't adapt it. I don't use hooks from the mount. I'll definitely share with my friends. It's good to be aware of this. Based on how it is set up, I feel comfortable preventing it, even at later stages. But only because I have seen it. Thanks again for sharing, and explaining.
I agree, it’s important to learn about things that aren’t part of your game. There are so many things that I have learned that I will never add to my game. But now that I have seen them I know how to not get caught in them. Thanks for sharing the video with your friends!
I hope no one at my gym sees this 😂
It’s so brutal. 😂
We call this the Saturday night special in our gym. It’s a hip lock thing.
That’s amazing haha
