    This video makes it so much easier to understand. I would have expected a video like this from Korg. So glad that you did this video. Thanks!

    I spent an hour trying to figure out step record because live record wasn't working right, gave up and assumed it wasn't possiblr, and of course it was right in front of me the entire time. Thanks haha!

    Wow have this thing for months now and did not know you can record the knobs, thanks so much to you and to youtube for recommending this

    Thank you - this is easily the most helpful video I've found in my quest to get to grips with the Volca Modular!

    Nice one... thinking about buying this now that I see how good the step sequencer is, along with chaining. Step Sequencing was the main flaw with the volca keys and bass. Wish there was an update for that!

    Thanks! First video to address the motion sequence and the sequence modes. Another Volca that goes in a new sonic direction.

    Korg needs to update the 3 original Volcas to include "Global System Parameter" #8 which is for the "Sync input/output unit". This would allow the entire collection of Volcas to sync to “Once a step” (or 4 PPQN). The added bonus is that when the Volca Drum, Volca Kick, or Volca Sample is used as the master clock, the swing settings will extend to all Volcas in the chain.

    Nice demo... this would pair well with the Volca FM.

      Any tips for jamming on a synth setup? I currently have a Minilogue, Volca FM (played on Arturia Keystep), Volca Modular, and Volca Sample, and my jams suck, lol. All clock sync, no groovebox/brain/sequencer. Been producing on and off on Ableton Live and live jamming is so different for me, a lot easier to mess up since you don't get to do hundreds of takes.

    Looks - and sounds - like a lot of fun! Gonna think about getting one. (I'm a guitarist by nature so for me to get a synth is kinda out-of-character.)
    Fun demo!

      you have to hold function and write, then press the slot where you wanna save it = saved. that was a hassle for me too :/

    The other volca's had the ability to record sequences given to it by the MIDI input. Can this do the same with the CV-IN?

    I know I'm late to the party, but how did you end up with a 32 steps sequence?

  • @JabunAudio
    @JabunAudio 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just wondering, is the motion sequence recording smooth or stepped? I know the Volca Keys has an option for both but this one doesn't seem to. Example: if you motion sequence the ratio knob and listen to just that modulator oscillator (via the appropriate patching) does it slide between the notes or step between them as the sequencer advances? Thanks in advance for the help :)

      HurpADervish as shown in the video, you can adjust the rate, gate time, and release.
      I am new to this thing though, and the reality is that it is much more complicated than it looks at first hand.
      On the one hand, this is really good, on the other...
      It is not an easy task to get it to work good.

    Very nice. Could you hock the Volca Modular to a Eurorack? So how is CV-IN working?

    • @rishabhrajan
      @rishabhrajan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its not very straightforward. It accepts a pair of signals on a single TS 1/8th inch cable. One is the 1v/oct pitch control which it converts internally to work in its custom range. The second input is +-5V signal that is also scaled down to work in the Volca range. I don't think they really follow the Eurorack CV conventions.

    • @johnmiddleton4291
      @johnmiddleton4291 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What Eurorack conventions? I have modules that are all over the place voltage wise. -5 to +5 bipolar. -8 to +8. 0 to 10. 3 volt gate, 5 volt gate, 8 volt gate. Even the pitch CV scaling is different on some modules, or the root midi note for 0 volts.

    • @rishabhrajan
      @rishabhrajan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Middleton that’s true. Though some might want to be able to at least get proper key tracking to be able to play tempered notes.

    • @johnmiddleton4291
      @johnmiddleton4291 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm just messing with you. I always get a chuckle out of people thinking Eurorack is a standard.
      If it follows 1/v per octave as the specs say, it should track well enough. It's analog core oscillators though, so will need to warm up and forget about stability outside in the sun or a cool day. I doubt rock solid stability was a priority since this style of synth relies on randomness and stochastic sequences for much of it's atmosphere.
      The bigger issue would be the root midi note for 0 volts, which can change between synths. This is one of the Moog M32 biggest issues.
      All that said, anyone that has Euro to use with this, will know about voltage conversion, VCAs, and buffered mults....or they should look into them now.

    • @leftmono1016
      @leftmono1016 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Middleton - it should stay in tune fine, the Keys and the Bass do. I’m sure I read somewhere that the oscillators are constantly tuned internally which is why you can’t use individual oscillator outs from the PCBs. Or something like that!

    wait a minute, how about sequencing 256 steps that I hear of

    • @oranebeast
      @oranebeast 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      pattern chaining. not true 256. 16x16. so you could, with careful playing, play 256 steps, but you absolutely could not record them live.

    • @arqner3493
      @arqner3493 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oranebeast I have a volca modular, why couldn´t you record the 16x16 patterns live? because you have to change them manually?

    • @cybergwen
      @cybergwen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arqner3493 Veeeeery late answer: Because as soon as you enable pattern chaining, you can no longer record anything. A bit of a bummer, but it makes sense because you have to explicitly save a pattern, and changing to a new pattern discards all the changes in the old pattern. So with pattern chaining, changes would immediately be lost as soon as the pattern changes to the next one in the chain.
