Was there at the Wyndam Alltra in Playa Del Carmen last week.. Though most of the staff(s) see you as a bag of money and the food was meh and saw a huge cockroach right in front of our door and the stair, the experience was still amazing. The location is perfect like just 4 mins walk to the ever famous 5th Avenue..
Hi JC! Don't you hate it when those bugs don't realize this is a quality resort and they should stay out!? 😂 I know - the pesticide should kill everything but sometimes I don't mind missing out on those chemicals! I'm glad you had a great time and I agree - can't beat that location! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Hi Rubi! It will depend where you're flying from and which airline you choose. I flew from Vancouver, Canada and it was a direct, non-stop flight and I'm sure there are many options from different US cities.
I’m not a big fan of being in town but this place does look interesting. Haven’t been to Playa Del Carmen since they worked on 5th avenue. Thanks for the video.
Hi RAS! As always, thanks for watching and for your comment. We walked the length of 5th ave in December and everything looked like it had rebounded from covid big time. Lots of brand name shops and posh restaurants. Still pass by that guy who pretends to be the waiter from your hotel so you go into his shop. The nice thing with staying at a hotel there is that you could find a nice place to have a drink and people watch - such interesting stuff going on!
We got hit up by that guy on 5th ave years ago claiming to be our bar tender from the Hard Rock Riviera Maya. They just see your all inclusive bracelet.
Hi Robert! I hope you have a great time! When it was Panama Jack, they used to ring a bell when the Cinnamon buns were ready at the coffee shop - please let us know if they are still doing this - I imagine a cinnamon bun fresh out of the oven would be a fabulous vacation treat!! Cheers!
Hi Alexia! It's INCLUDED! Essentially, it's an all-you-can-eat sushi bar - it's one of the things I look forward to most when I'm on vacation as I love sashimi but it can be quite pricey normally. Being from Vancouver, we have tons of fresh fish and some of the best sushi/sashimi in the world. I don't know if I'd comfortable eat a bunch of sushi from a basic 3* resort but I've had it here and it's delicious! Enjoy!
Hi YY! That's awesome - I hope you have a fabulous time! Be sure to let the hotel know you are on your honeymoon (I do this via FB Messenger). Early congrats on the wedding!
Hello Dear, Thanks so much for this review. I didn't see anything about the beach which my wife loves. I hear it is a HUGE seaweed issue with the beach is that true? We plan on being in town within a few weeks to celebrate our anniversary. Let me know if you can. Thanks!
Hi Brian! Congrats on your anniversary! Unfortunately, the seaweed (sargassum) has been a huge problem this year and it's actually impacting the entire coastline. They have put up barriers in Playa del Carmen, so that does help a little. I tried looking at some webcams of the area but it looks as though most have been disabled. You may want to consider a day trip to Cozumel - the west side of the island should be reasonably sargassum-free as it's protected by the island. Alternatively, be sure to check out that pool at the back of the resort on the roof! Have fun!
Have you visited yet? Was curious how consistent this resort is with the other Playa managed properties? We are big fans of Ziva/Zilara and this resort is included in our Real Club membership - we just never thought of going here while it was Panama Jacks.
Hi Sammy! I haven't been since it switched over to Wyndham Alltra but stayed here when it was Panama Jack and was surprised because I expected it to be more like a Riu or Barcelo level and yet there were a lot of aspects that were higher level. It's obviously not on the same level as Hyatt Ziva or Zilara, but it's not dramatically far off and when. you factor in the much lower price point, it's definitely worth considering. (Especially if you want adult only, since those are always slightly more $$$)
Hello! Me and my lady are about to book our trip. Trying to find how to get from the Cancun airport to this destination. What is the easiest and safest way to do this? Are they shuttles for this specific resort. Are there general shuttles that will drop us off downtown??
Hi Slashh! You have to pre-book a shuttle for Cancun and there are a variety of companies that offer reasonable prices and consistently good service. I mainly use CanadaTransfers for myself and my clients. You can pre-order beers for the ride and the drivers have always been good. I've also used Amstar and Lomas Travel but I keep coming back to Canada Transfers for price and service. Also note that they do NOT have regular taxi service from the airport - it's a private car service and will cost you WAY more than a pre-booked shuttle would cost.
Hi Marli! Pretty much everything is included but they generally have a few premium liquors that are extra (think: stuff that costs $80/bottle at a liquor store) and if they are offering lobster or Tomahawk steak, that will have a clearly stated upcharge. I usually find that the included options are quite good & have never paid extra for anything. Thanks for watching!
Hi Lisa! No this resort was renovated about 5 years ago and modernized. I also checked the top room categories and they do not have a jacuzzi tub either. At their sister property, Wyndham Alltra Cancun, the upper room categories have a jacuzzi tub, either inside the suite or outside on the balcony. Hope that helps!
Hi Gingerly! The beach here has been crafted over the years to be more consistently good, despite the seaweed (sargassum) that can plague this area. They have installed waterbreaks in the ocean, to keep the beach clean and this also reduces the erosion that happens when a storm comes in. It's not as nice as the beaches in Cancun, but it is quite pleasant.
Hi Me Me! No this resort is in Playa del Carmen which is beside the Hilton Playa del Carmen. There is a Wyndham Alltra in Cancun beside the Hyatt Zilara but that Alltra resort is family friendly. Thanks for watching!
Hi Yeyo! Yes that’s correct. It’s still part of Playa resorts but is now under the Wyndham brand so if you collect points through them, you can earn them here now.
Hi, my husband is looking to book a bachelor party in Mexico. We love the idea of being so close to 5th ave. Is this resort good for entertainment? Is there a night club? Would love to know more about by the pool and nightly entertainment.
Hi Amanda! This resort is perfectly located for their group but it’s not exactly a party resort at night. The Riu resorts in Playacar might be better for this but it just depends if they prefer to stay at the resort or be close to other clubs and bars. They will definitely have music at night and the bars are open - so I’m sure they could make this work and the price is incredibly good right now. Hope that helps!
@@charlenebulick2514 oh wow lucky you! Yes the beach is small there but I’m glad you enjoyed the pool. Did you spend much time at the upper floor pool?

Tou may have covered it already, but may I ask how many bars do they have?
Hi LG! There are four bars plus the ones at each restaurant. Cheers!
hi! Where’s the beach to swimming with sand and without stones? Thank you!
Sorry for traslation!
Hi Laura! The beach is good here. They protect it from the seaweed/ sargassum and there’s not many rocks. Cheers!
