    Looks like a great spot for a small grill base also. Table on one support for prep, and grill table on the other.
    I’ll probably be building this one next weekend! Great job Patrick, and thanks for sharing!!

    Great idea and well executed. Instead of sanding the weld seam from the inside of the 1" pipe, I'd add a little groove to the outside of the 3/4" so it would fit nicely since it would be so much easier and not require an additional tool. Just a thought. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas. Always interesting to see...

    Absolutely brilliant. The stool and table are superb ideas. I’m inspired and thinking of duplicating your build and making two opposing stools and using my slide out drawer as table. Hitch dinette. Looking forward to the carrier build next. Thanks for sharing and teaching.

    Love it, hope to have a truck in a few months, this would be an excellent addition. Glad to find this channel. My greatest frustration with hammock camping was finding a place to hang it at most camp grounds. You can also soak galvanized parts in vinegar or an acid bath to help remove it as well.

    I love this series. I’ve been hammock camping for years. I was thinking about how to build a hitch mounted one of these since I first saw a wheel mount. Then I realized other people have designed them, just like you did. I had been hung up on how I wanted to make the arms break down. Seeing your build really helps. I had the idea of the stopper rings, but I wasn’t sure if they would work like I hoped it would. You have prototyped it for us. The use of the threaded pipe is brilliant, because you can buy short lengths and readily get your hands on them.
    I hope to eventually build version of your rooftop tent also. Keep up the series a Videos. There’s a whole lot of us out here that need the inspiration to build gear cost half or a third of what the retail versions are.

    I just found your channel. Nice job on the hammock mount. I made my own hitch mounted hammock stand out of a couple old trampoline frames. it was essentially "scrap steel". I've heard it called "upcycling" when you recycle items and change their original purpose to suit your new goal.
    As luck would have it the leg post from one frame was a perfect fit into the other frames leg post.
    I used the larger diameter pipe all the way up as my hammock support legs. I cut the smaller diameter pipe into pieces and plug welded them into the larger pipe through holes I drilled into the bottom of the larger diameter pipes. This allows the pipes to butt together snugly and I didn't need the "rings" you welded onto your legs.

    I love the idea of these but I've always been concerned about the weight capacities. I drive an outback with an official tongue weight of 100lbs and I'm closer to 300lbs. Was wondering about wear and tear long term on the vehicles, assuming I could afford one of the kits. I'm assuming the tire route would be more sturdy?

    • @PatrickRemington
      @PatrickRemington  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What year? I have a 2013 outback and the tongue weight is 200lbs. 2021 outback is 350lbs. I’m not worried about that at all. I personally would not put 300lbs on the tire mount. That’s a lot of force on the strap holding it to the tire.
