This is by far the best pennine way video on you tube, well until May 24 anyway 😜, thank you entertainment but also really informative haloing me loads with my planning for this spring 👌
Great set of films, brought back great memories of my adventure 26yrs ago. Still have the same camera my wife bought me for the trip. Now live in West of Ireland, get yourself over here for walks and Guinness.
I'm from Newcastle and I can honestly say I've enjoyed every minute of the footage you have filmed , if I were there now I'd personally buy you a beer and maybe catch up on that terrible night Stan collymor ruined newcastle season, that's if you're a footy fan,, ⚽
Great Shunner Fell, the highest spot on the Pennine Way? I bet Little Dun Fell, Great Dun Fell and Cross Fell came as a shock! All the same, I've loved this series of films and can relate to your reservoiraphobia :)
You betcha! I simply couldn't recall what Id read about Great Shunner Fell in the planning ! It was only when I started climbing Cross Fell that it all came flooding back to me......in tears!
i no it was few years ago, and i hope the demensia.s not got any worse,LOL, but can you tell me wich pack you was using and how much weight you was carrying, i am enjoying the videos and hope your still walking, thank you.
The back pack is a Lowe Alpine one. Still use it too, very good, holds 60/80 litre. On that trip all kit weighed bout 20kgs which was far too much. I think the 14 kilos of wine was ambitious!
Me and my dad are just planning our trip on the Pennine way and i am 14 and my dad is more than 14 stone! (but he is quite fit!). We love your videos but we are planning to do the last day in 1, all 26 miles! is dad mad?
Of course your dad is mad....all dads are. The last day in one 26 mile slog is achievable depending on what you have to carry. Its not if youre carrying your dad! You will have built the stamina and fitness along the way to do it in one. I stopped for logistical reasons....my wife was picking me up the following day.....and there was a lovely young lady in the mountain hut. I ll leave that for your dad to explain. Youll love the expedition. .
I took the Harvey map series with me, but most of the time I used GPS with OS 1/25k series loaded. Usually I check out all my routes on Garmin Base Camp on computer first then load my routes to GPS and use that. The maps help with planning and act as back up in event GPS fails.

Really enjoying your films of the Pennine Way.
Martin Campbell Cheers. They were enjoyable to make too. Well they were once I'd finished the walk!

I am a footy fan. LFC is my team, or should I say The European Champions ! The in-laws are NUFC fans so I feel your pain.
