My method to repairing things like this is to throw it in the trash and buy a brand-new one. It’s fixed perfectly then.. plus you get all the new features and better UI to boot.
OMG... I work in a company who is nuts about Static damage and Wrist bands and Mats are always used and checked weekly....for good reason too. Wouldn't want to have an Airplane fall out of the Sky due to a partially killed PCB from Static damage. The guy sending you these boards obviously knows nothing about ESD precautions. The Bubble wrap could have done untold damage to all the boards. You need to get rid of that carpet on your test bench too and only have a piece just to protect the screen....the surrounding area should not be carpeted.....Boards placed on these areas could suffer too.
I am no tv technician but think it is important to remember with OLED there will be NO display without a signal .many times I've thought tv was off . Maybe try display the menu or something ,
Just checked something Allen if you power the setup and you hear a relay click and standby light flashes once that means the main board is good . now check power rails for the 24 volts and the 12 volt rail then unplug both tecon cables and check voltage rails again if both rails ok then it’s the main panel fault mate
Unlucky Allen I would check the fuses on the driver board, there’s normally 1 where the power comes from the main board and 1 where the 24v from the PSU plugs in 😊
I can see a "smashed screen" TV being a consequence of a board/backlights failure leading to the owner throwing something at it in anger. Probably comes with a broken remote control as well.
Yes, remember the standby light lit means it's in standby and no standby light means it's on but with no signal, the screen wouldn't light unless there is a signal but you did check with the remote for a menu with the second board and that shound have showed something. Oh ok, looking back,, you have one so you know that. I enjoy watching your channel, I repaired tv and radio and everything else in that field since the sixties and got out as plasma started.
yes they are. Should actually use a static bag and wear a hand strap , or touch some metal occasionally while working on anything electronic . Gets much worse in winter when there is low humidity, or if you do much walking on carpets. You learn the hard way. 5 volt stuff doesnt like 50000 volts going through it.
If the oled picture is too bright then turn down the brightness, and you will extend the life of the oled panel oled has its own light just like plasma tv has. oled is in a way an improved plasma tv since both do the same thing in practice to display the picture. You won't get better black and contrast than what oled gives!
Hi allan 100% its the screen these are the worst lg tvs unfortunately. and im confident those boards work. The tvs are too thin for there own good. The newer 2024 models they have made them slightly thicker. Ive had 4 new 2024 77" returned all with screen screen issues out of the box.
You may have to get the LG WAV file to play the in start through an infrared receiver or get the service remote to the in start because oled main board will shut down and go into protect mode if it came from an OLED with a cracked screen I have seen this before
Seriously, take a step back and put on your technicians hat and start with good old fashioned analysis in a logical order. This went from that into the realm of wobbling random plugs and guessing which board may have failed. You are better than that and I think you can get this working of you start over. Best of luck If you can't fix it, send it to me and I will get the thing up and running.
Anisotropic Conductive ACF Film that is used to connect ribbons to screen had exactly the same issue on an OLED after sourcing another unit to scavenge a board set from nailed it down to ACF film
It's actually important, beacuse all the OLED panel data is written there - aka if you ran pixel refresher, the voltages for each pixel are recorded, so you get picture with no banding...
Hi Allen, have you tried isolating a few boards to see if backlights come on voltage checks on power board, missing power rails? etc . might be a process of elimination Back to the basics👍🇦🇺
I won a 65" Samsung OLED S90C from a local grocery store drawing. The picture is quite stunning, but I still tend to favor my 54" Panasonic plasma TC-P54V10 Viera (15 years old) for many aspects. I would assume you had already checked the voltages coming from the power supply in part one, but a recheck might reveal the problem. There might be one missing or low. Also, many times a solution will come to me in the middle of the night when I'm half way asleep.
To me the color is more accurate. Putting them side to side the plasma set looks more natural. But the Panasonic was a top of the line set and the OLED is second down from the top, so the Panasonic has better processing circuitry.
@@PcGamingForFun Still using my Pioneer Kuro, I'll take over any new TV out there. Colour, motion, upscaling. Sure it only goes up to 1080 but I'll take its 1080 performance over any 4K
Thing is you can’t get the same quality on non OLED panels and LG seems to have some of the best at the moment. I don’t think I could go back to LCD with LED backlights again.
I'm just going to throw it out there you don't leave us viewers with much to work on you didn't get the multimeter out so we're all in the dark. So my first thought now if you've tried it already is it has to be a bad ribbon cable or wire going last leg from the power source?
I guess one more thing to try is the power board? I'm guessing you tested that already and would be a waste of time and money. It's probably the panel, or a longshot, could it be a cable/connector fault? I've wondered if cables can degrade over time with heat. I've had a lot of trouble with USB cables and connectors recently that got me thinking. I've got an old Samsung plasma that I'm trying to fix. It's great for retro games cause of the motion clarity on those side scrolling games. I don't know anything about TV repair so I'm just replacing the boards one at a time with used ones off AliExpress. Have replaced all X and Y boards to no avail. The fault is red pixels firing on dark background when they shouldn't be. Increasing the "Vscan" pot on the Y board improves the issue by about 50%, so I thought it's got to be Y board related, but no. Next I'll try replacing the T-CON, then finally the power board. If that doesn't work then it's probably the panel is end of life. I wouldn't want to replace the main logic board as that probably contains the factory colour calibration. I do have a colourimeter and some HCFR software to calibrate it but I don't know if that's the same as factory calibration.
The "English" football team got thrashed again last summer I;m sure a few thousand screens would have been punched or had beer bottles thrown at them. "Beer football and gambling filled the horizons of their minds, to keep them under control was not difficult" - Orwell .
Well Allen I watched your what tv to buy all very good, but not sure why when given 3 boards from smashed tvs,you did not try them in a tv that works to check them first, all you have done is added more mystery as to why the screen does not power up,I must admit I expected you to be checking things instead of part swapping.
My mother bought a LG oled c1 55" and has not had a single problem. Incredibly good picture quality. My mother uses the screen a lot. But the sound quality is the absolute worst I have ever heard from a TV! It sounds a bit like the speaker is sitting inside a bucket or plastic pipe even though it doesn't. The OLED still has problems with uneven wear or burn-in. This LG c1 dims the brightness automatically to extend its lifespan, which you can't completely turn off except in the service menu.
Let me guess, they buy these Hisense/TCL things, replaces them when the next model with a load of inflated specs comes out and tells everyone how great they are, then shrugs their shoulders when some poor sap buys one on their recommendation and is left with a knackered TV after 18 months...

Don't you ever diagnose or repair to component level, every video seems to be - change a board or replace a backlight, poor show
That’s very amateur “repair” here, yes

I was thinking that. Surely if it doesn't work by parts swapping you need to check components.
