Abe Laboriel remains my all - time favorite bass player, even after all these years. Picture, if you will, I was a pimply faced 14 year old playing acoustic guitar into a mic in my church band, when the church was given a bass guitar. The band leader asked if I’d like to give it a crack as we didn’t have a bassist, and off I went. Less than six months later Ancient Of Days was released, and the first time I heard it, I had to take 5 minutes to get my heart rate and breathing under control, before I listened to the song repeatedly for then next week or so, lol!!! TINY MIND WAS ABSOLUTELY BLOWN, lol - I had no idea the instrument I had come to love (and still do!!!) could be played that way; I was absolutely inspired!!! : )
Abe Laboriel is one of the most talented, humble and kindest musicians I've ever met!! For the religious, he embodies the glory of God. In the secular world, he embodies the spirit of music!! ❤🎉
