So true...almost everything out of his mouth is like that too. When we showed him the final video this week, he said "You guys are using technology as a trampoline to catapult us to higher places" Yep...I think we'll frame that one! :-)
@@SpectrasonicsVIDEO Oh wow. You guys absolutely deserve that high praise. There's something about the heart of Spectrasonics, and the fact that Abraham sees it means it must be true!
What Abe said is really profound. Considering the fact that he is getting older and knowing he won't physically be with us forever, it's almost like Abe is saying he's confident that the art of music is being left in good hands. The torches have been passed, and he's fine moving aside to let the next generation rise and thrive. As a fan of Abe Laboriel Sr., this display of wisdom just shows once again why he is one of the best musicians ever.
I was in the dorm at Berklee in 1968 with Abraham. He came in as a guitar player and quickly switched to the bass. Within short order he was already dominating the instrument! What a great musician. I cherish the time we spent together (I remember visiting him in his apartment and meeting his baby son, now touring the world as Paul McCartney's drummer!)
He's one of my first inspirations for such a high love for music. I loved his dancing in Ron Kenoly's "Sing Out" album. I started playing bass in 2011, and just recently about 2years ago started rewatching some of his old footage. He's brilliant and would love to meet him if possible soon.
Also a huge fan…of his and Kiefer as well..and also from PNG 🇵🇬 which is why I’m familiar with your work as well..Congratulations on all your successes and may God bless and keep you with all that you do Mr. Walters 🫡
I first knew of Abraham Laboriel back in the early 90’s i was barely a teenager back then. And his music. With Ron Kenoly 🎤 Alex Acuña 🥁 Chester Thompson 🥁 justo Almario 🎷 Paul Jackson jr. 🎸 Tom Brooks 🎹 THE BAND!☝🏻 of hosssna music. Good’ol times!
One of the most beautifull things about Abe performance, is the way he feel happines during the songs. One of the most brilliants musicians we have. God Bless you,Abe Laboriel!

ive been making music for 20 years...still have no one to share it with, and i still have fun and it still carries me along for its ride with an open hearse.
Music can be many things through individual experiences. Music can be a shared experience or a individual experience where both have a place and a way of expressing something divine.
Benjámin Timár well, yeah, but, (context, of course) you play keys, and who would you rather have suddenly join you in stage as a total surprise... knowing it’s being recorded before a live audience of big ears listeners? Hope I get to meet Herbie, (not on stage in the middle of a show with no warning..eek!)
Man, seeing Abraham Laboriel Sr. is a blessing. Just falling into the music and getting lost, this is what the world needs. Sharing and encouraging others to be encouraged. Very heartwarming.
Still remember the first time I saw Mr. Laboriel was on an old VHS tape some 30+ years ago. My eyes just lit up seeing him play and spread infectious joy. After 30+ years... my eyes still light up the same way when he plays. There are many legends, but this one right here, top of the list in the most greatness wrapped up in humility!
What a touching comment by Abe at the end. Thank you, Eric and Spectrasonics and all the artists and engineers and MUSICIANS who collaborated together to make these instruments, these videos, and this MUSIC for all of us and all those to come. YOU'RE AMAZING!!!
Incredibly moving and cool on every level: people, players, hosting, A.L., Kiefer, Keyscape and Omnisphere sounds, vibe, production, mix. But most of all, the incredibly moving moments and comments by Abraham and Eric and Keifer. Thanks SO much for posting. Wow.
What struck me the most...With states of emergency/lockdowns/distancing, and unthinkable global loss, you can see, and in this case even feel, how special something we just take for granted is...a simple, heartfelt embrace between two people. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the musicians and artists will be the ones that will 're-humanize' the planet once we emerge from this. Imagine just how special that next gig is going to be.
Sir AB Laboriel doesn't just play the bass guitar. he talks to our hearts with it. You don't need to have detailed music knowledge to feel what he is adding with the bass. He is my biggest love and the reason I play bass guitar❤️. Love you Sir!
This damn tears. No one warns me that this is going to be emotional. What a beautiful moment and a very intimate conversation. Thank you for sharing this. . .
Abe is STILL a monster! OMG. The master bassist of bassists...and guys, his sound is soooooo clean! Has been for years, many, many years when he was playing for Andre Crouch, Bill Maxwell, Alex Acuna and the Gang! If you don't know his history musically, you need to research....learn, learn, learn!
Abraham is one of the most wholesome performers to watch. As Kiefer said perfectly, "he just gets it". Such love and passion for sharing the music together is so fun to see unfold, and vitally important to remember where it comes from. Thank you for sharing this with us too!
I came across this video one morning, and I couldn’t help but cry. Music in its purest form. For the love of it and for the connection that it brings us as a species. Thank you kiefer and Abraham!!!!! One love!!
"To be encouraged, and to encourage others". You have done this for me today. And Abraham, as you have, many many times in the past. Thank you Abraham, Eric, Kiefer and Spectrasonics. Purpose.
Abraham Laboriel will always remain such a huge inspiration to me, from the many years of watching and listening to him in integrity music and elsewhere. God bless u, brother~
What was essentially a jam session elevated by amazing musicians to one of the finest pieces of music I've ever heard! Amazing job by the drummer as well.
My respects to everyone and so much love for the gentleman playing the bass. My wife doesn't like bass so I have headphones but I made sure I got some that can reproduce bass. Thanks everyone.
Imagine if instruments were people all made in different shapes and sizes from different places of the world with different backgrounds of how they came to be great in their own right and came together with one common goal. This is how I picture humanity should be. When we as people can sit down and have convesations no matter where we are from and move for the better good of all at the table this world will be better for all. This type of music makes the world go round. Music is colorblind and colorful at the same time. Thank you Spectrasonics for making the world a little bit better. :-)
I've been in at least 4 performances like these where Abe performs and really gets emotional. Most of them in rooms that fit no more than 20 people. He is not putting on a show, and it gets even more intimate at band rehearsals. It's beautiful. The first one was around 15 years ago. Every time it feels like he is saying good bye and it breaks my heart.
Abraham is one of the greatest bass players (and musicians) EVER. His touch is amazing and highly unique. Ever heard the theme song to "Chips"? That's Abe on bass. And the bass is ridiculous. He does some wild funky bends/slides, etc. that are impossible for anyone else to play. Btw...this whole band is smokin'...and that Rhodes patch is amazing!
Man it's watching videos like this that make me wonder why I'm studying Economics and going into finance. I'd choose working at Spectrasonics over a big bank any day
Mr. Abraham Laboriel is one of the most humble individuals you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. I Love and Appreciate this Fabulous Musician! Abe, James Gadson & Bill Lynch did a great weekly gig in the valley for several years at the Write-Off Room that was always Outta This World!
Man, from 7.50 onwards I started to get tears in my eyes (this doesn't happen often), they are so into the music and the respect between them is heart warming. Thanks for this video 🙏
What an awesome clip! Wonderful to see and hear Abraham Laboriel again after many years. I saw him at a conference for musicians in the Netherlands in the 80s with his Christian Fusion-Jazz-Band KOINONIA. No implying in any way Abraham doesn't have chops, but what truly makes him so special is how he knows what to play to move the music along.
