If you take out all the stuff in Fantasia, you have the story of a boy whose dad has newly remarried and has moved into a new house where the son now has a bratty sibling. On top of that, he has to go through the trouble of attending a new school, including dealing with bullies, all while some supernatural shit is going on and he and his bratty sister have to put aside their differences to work together to stop the evil force.
What I'm trying to say is this is not so much a Neverending Story sequel as it is an episode of Goosebumps.

if the original creator hated the first movie, i wonder what he thought of this one lol.
He was dying of stomach cancer at the time of the movies release, but I'm sure he would've taken the cancer over watching this movie any day.

The movie should have been titled “The Neverending Story III: Atreyu Forgotten” since Atreyu wasn’t in it and not even talked about in the movie. It was like Atreyu left Fantasia then everyone there forgot that he ever existed.
Seems the movie makers were making too many wishes with AURYN, and LOST their memories of the first two films and/or the book.
He is not mention and does not appear in The Neverending Story 3

I love how it ends with the bullies becoming nice, it's such a 50s grandparents idea of 'nice'. Like the way the dress HAS to change because leather jacket = nasty person. :p

I saw it just to see how bad it really is. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was actually worse.
Lucky. This was the first movie I saw in the franchise. I thought this was the original Neverending Story for years.

Neverending story is, from what I've heard, like Narnia. Fun and fantastical but then you quickly realize that this is much darker than you thought it would be. Death and corruption everywhere. Good stuff.

i saw free willy in the theater too with my mom and brother! i really liked it tho. i remember the theater emptied out and the credits were playing and me and my mom and brother got up and started dancing to the music. i was like 5 years old lol.

A great ending for this movie would be some random background character jumps out of the movie's real world. He's then in his office, looking down at the screenplay he's just written, The Never Ending Story 3. He takes a look at all the drugs he's just taken to write this screenplay and says "that was amazing, I've really made a true gem for the stoner community, the studio will love this!"

Lol so when I was a kid, I never got to watch The NeverEnding Story 1 or 2 but for some reason my parents bought my sister and I the third one. So for years I thought that the third one was the original NeverEnding story and I was really confused as to why everyone liked it so much, lol. I know we had CD players, but not the portable kind. I vividly recall owning a Panasonic Shockwave portable CD player in the 90s. That thing was awesome. But then, MP3 files became a thing in '97, and then Napster made it easy to download your favorite tunes for free. Ah, those were the days =)

Oof, that rockbiter biking scene hurts. You watch the first movie and when he’s riding that bike, it’s loud and everything’s getting kinda crushed, and the way everything is set up really gives you the idea of just how massive the rockbiter is. But then you watch the scene in the 3rd movie and... it looks kinda like an elmo tricycle training commercial or some shit

Everything you said is spot-on + hilarious. However, for some reason, I feel compelled to give a nod to the kid for trying really hard and convincing me with some of his lines. Same with the walking tree guy - it would have been easy to put on the ridiculous costume and collect a paycheck, but he was really trying to squeeze out what he could, for comedy's sake.

I had no idea this movie existed until I saw his review of “Never Ending Story 2”. I’m glad this is my only exposure to it.
I just found this video, and looked up how old the actress who played the Childlike Empress was in this movie. She was 22. This movie was made 10 years after the original, and this actress is only one year younger than the original.
