I admit Sunset wasn't the best in this movie as a villain.
However, I really liked her character development in the other movies and the tv show, like Rainbow Rocks.
Still wondering about her human counterpart though, since she's was originally a pony.

I remeber when the controversy with the human desings happened, one of the strongest opinons was about the characters not having normal human skin tones. In retrospect I think it was probably the best decition they could have made.
And while I remember liking this movie, I think Rainbow Rocks the second movie is the best of the ones that came out, they lean more on the music, wich in my opinion is one of the franchise's strongest points.

Confessions of a teenage brony here: The show started when I was in high school and by senior year I was hooked. It became my comfort show to watch when I was first away at college. A friend and I even went to see EQ in theaters. And yes, two teenagers in a packed theater of small children and their parents does feel awkward

Equestria girls was amazing! Rainbow rocks was, and still is, my personal favourite equestria girls movie, and I hope you could do a video about it!
You can definitely enjoy the Equestria Girls movie series without watching the original FiM but you miss out on just a few parallels, like this movie to the first arc of FiM.
The best movie of this series is definitely MLP - Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks. I hope you check it out!

I agree to this. Because my first MLP Equestria girls and MLP rainbowrock. I mostly loved the dazzlings' songs "under our spell" and "welcome to the show"❤

I think all the EG dolls that I had were, Rainbow Dash (the rainbow rocks version i think) 2 Twilights, Sonata and Aria from rainbow rocks, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, (and I kinda forgot because it was a long-long long time ago-)

I remember my dad having a video in his old laptop that had all the songs of my little pony from around years ago (around the popular early/early-middle seasons) and it also had songs from equestria girls too. Literal bangers, those songs. Childhood classic.
There's a comic of sunset swinging the Hammer but because the statue was a portal it went through and hit princess Celestia in the face.
Actually, as at season 3, teleporting is not easy for the average unicorn and Twilight was the only one we had seen in the first three seasons who could do it.

**gasp** I’m- im here! I remember when I was like 15 I finally had internet and I decided to watch some MLP and found Equestria Girls and watched all the movies.
I am so glad to see someone liking this. I remember how salty people were when this came out and it did not deserve it.
I grew up on MLP, though not originally this one. This show/string of movies is actually Gen 4. As a kid, I grew up on Gen 3 MLP with movie specials such as "A Very Minty Christmas" and "Princess Promenade." When I first saw this series, it was kind of weird because there were new characters but then also the same characters but different. For example, the Pinkie Pie I grew up with wasn't bouncing off the walls but was a critical thinker who was down to earth, everyone went to for advice and she adored the color pink. Still though, I watched the entirety of this show and most of the Equestria Girls movies. I'd suggest you watch my personal favorite of the movies (Legend of Everfree. The music is AMAZING!), but there's two movies in between it and it's hard to watch it without that context.
Ironically, you say you like how they all sound different. The irony there is that some of them actually have the same voice actor. The VA for Applejack is the same for Rainbow Dash. The VA for Fluttershy is the same for Pinkie Pie. Rarity and Twilight, on the other hand, have VAs of their own. (Though the VA for Rarity also voices Princess Luna, I believe.)
I absolutely loved the Equestria Girls series. Broke my heart when the day came they announced they were going cancel it. 😢
If you thought the songs in this were amazing just wait till you watch the second one Rainbow Rocks! That’s where the songs really go hard and still have my favorite songs to listen to. ❤
In answer to how it might seem odd how Sunset could flick her moral switch that fast after being blasted by the Rainbow Laser of Death, there's something to keep in mind.
When she forced her exposure to magic with the crown, she turned into a demon with no qualms about ending Twilight’s life.
The sudden exposure to magic magnified her negative emotions, which then manifested into her demon form, however, ALL the negative aspects were magnified, which is why her brilliant intellect took a back-seat regarding using teenagers for an army.
Her ambitions, now being influenced by a magnified negative energy, took over logic.
The same applies to her choosing to try ending Twilight.
Before, she made it clear she wasn't planning on actually hurting Spike.
Those were her good qualities still leaking through.
After she was exposed to magic magnified negative energy, however, her most negative traits were magnified too.
When the Elements blasted her, all that magnified negative energy went too, leaving Sunset with her positive traits and an open mind as to exactly what had happened.
Teleportation is apparently an extremely hard thing to learn for unicorns.
It's a really great series and good show for my childhood. And the ship between Twilight and Flash was very cute 🥰
I got into MLP around the time Equestria Girls and I watched Bronies React: Equestria Girls and got hooked as a result the Equestria Girls movies have a special place in my heart
Side note By the gods Flash was overly hated for no reason for example he snapped at Twilight due to being under the sirens' spell but everyone acted like he wasn't

Well this was unexpected, I never imagined you would cover this franchise! I mean i'm admittedly a Brony and have been since 2011 so it shouldn't be a surprise that even I like EQG but yeah i could never forget it i can even still remember a lot of people in the mlp fandom saying how terrible the first Equestria Girls film was but i for one still enjoy it, It's one of those movies that's fun to watch as a way to pass the time!

I have actually watch a few of the Equestria Girls movies. It's a mix bag, some were good and some not all that good. But I enjoyed them.

I saw that (and Rainbow Rocks) in theaters. As for Friendship Games and Legend of Everfree, I saw both of them as well.
Correction #1 (1:03) - The "My Little Pony" series started in 1981, and "Friendship is Magic" is 4th installment of MLP, that EQG is a spin-off of. And yes, it is now considered the main show.
Correction #2 (4:50) - Actually, teleportation spells are pretty hard, and only super gifted and powerful unicorns are able to teleport. Back then we've only seen unicorn Twilight being able to teleport, and with a lot of effort. So it was very huge for the fans to see another unicorn to have so much power.
Correction #3 (5:09) - Ponies' mane does that when they have a lot of power within them. Like, unimaginable amount of magic.
Fun fact (7:55) - There was a time in the future when Sunset was about to say the same word, but because it's a "kids series" she said "... you, manipulative b... blowhard!"
Fun fact (14:10) - Yeeeahh... Even Sunset later realizes how ridiculous that plan was. Seriously, her reaction in Rainbow Rocks and Mirror Magic is pretty similar to yours, but with no laughing.
Correction #4 (14:25) - Magical corruption is a complicated experience, and if we go deeper to that, it's gonna make more sense why Sunset switched personalities so fast. First of all, it's not like she was born evil (unlike King Sombra). She was initially an ambitious student who had the potential to be a great person, but never let friendship into her heart. We've never heard about her parents, so it's most likely that she grew up feeling lonely and only cared about herself up until this point. She did grow more cruel over time, but the demon transformation made her come back to her senses. After coming this close to her goal and realizing it's not what she wanted, and now everyone hates her, Sunset felt like her whole life was over. That's why that moment when Twilight gave her a second chance meant everything to Sunset.
You should really listen to "My Past is Not Today" to understand Sunset's inner state better. And I REALLY recommend you keep watching the EQG movies. The first one was extremely weak and flawed compared to the main show and the other movies when it comes to... completely everything, but if you enjoyed this one even a bit, you are definitely gonna like the others and you are gonna love Rainbow Rocks!
5:55 This is not a correction, just a comment
Celestia specifically says that she's the only one who can cross that portal, because if some pony else does, it would create some sort of unbalance in the universe or something hoof knows. However, many years later, Sunset shimmer brings all of the students of her school to Equestria, and literally nothing happens, I don't know if it's because something bad can only happen if too many ponies cross the Portal and not the other way around (if too many humans cross the portal) but the rules are already unclear enough as it is
It's very nice to hear the perspective from someone outside of the MLP/EG community.
OG FiM fan here. I saw a lot of worried buzz around the very idea of this movie back when it was first announced. It certainly didn't help that series creator Lauren Faust openly said that she wasn't fond of the concept. But, it wound up getting its fans and even getting a breakout character with Sunset. So yeah, it had its ups and downs 😊
I really hope you cover the second movie, as I think it's the best Equestria Girls has to offer. The music is better, and they fix the flaws to Sunset's rushed redemption.
Also, everyone in the fandom is a brony. Some female fans prefer 'pegasister,' but others (like me) don't care for the term.

oh my god I *LOVE* equestria girls. rainbow rocks is my favorite of the four movies. also I found it really funny that you liked Brad LMAO (that's what we called flash sentry in the fandom). I rewatch the bronies react to these very often. and if you liked the music here, the main show has a lot of really good music too!! trust me, you get used to watching ponies lol
If you loved the songs in this one, just wait until you see Rainbow Rocks! It's my personal favorite and I HIGHLY recommend it.

a “moon” is kind of an unspecified amount of time in mlp world. There’s so human equivalent, but most people agree it’s usually a month or so.
The other eq girls movies are MUCH BETTER tho. The songs, the characters, THE ANIMATION. Everything just gets progressively better and better. The first one is kinda generic and boring, but the second and the third one OMG!!! I don’t even like the songs that much in the first movie, so if you like them in this one you sure will LOVE them in the other movies. So yeah, I recommend watching the other movies, especially considering the fact, that you don’t need to have any knowledge of the show to enjoy the rest of the eq girls movies.
Btw the friendship games is my favourite one, so looking forward to hearing your opinion!!
Y’know, the funny thing is. I rewatched these movies literally three days ago and I’ve been watching reviews of the movie, the first channel I checked being this one. And now here it is. This is the second time something like this has happened to me.

Ngl... I was a MLP fan when I was a child and now that the MLP:FiM series has been finished for a while, I go back to rewatch the movies because I enjoy them so much! The series finished when I was no longer a kid, and since I was such a big fan I decided to finish watching it and also catch up on the movies. I can agree with a lot of other MLP fans in the comments that the movie Rainbow Rocks is the best out of the movies, it has a lot of memorable songs and moments!!

I used to loooove equestria girls, specifically Rainbow Rocks, that was the best of them
I was six years old the summer of 2013 when the first movie came out, and I drove my parents and brothers crazy singing the songs lol I also had long, blonde hair and made my mom make me a human Applejack costume for Halloween that year.
Ten years later, I’m not sure I would say it’s “good”, but I still have my dolls and the girls were a huge part of my childhood, so I wouldn’t say it’s “bad” either.
ngl the songs later on in the series gets so good, would definitely recommend Equestria girls
I still like MLP and Equestria girls movies, even through i don't like Sunset in any of the Equestria movies.
1:40 the art's amazing!
The whole EQG franchise is actually amazing due to Sunset Shimmer's character growth from villain to protagonist. Sunset is easily one of the best and complex former villains of the MLP: FIM franchise and it's a shame EQG never got a final film or finished Sunset's arc completely. The EQG television series somewhat delved into Sunset's past and such, but it would have been nice to have a sweet ending to her story.
Also please check out Rainbow Rocks, it's the best one out of the four films, but the third one, Friendship Games is severely underrated and really well done.

I loved this series & the EQG movies. I really wish they had a movie finally for EQG like the main series did. I just finished high school & got hooked on the series. 😆 I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. Also the show is great & first 3 seasons song's is the best of the majority of the series I would say. I would be interested if you gave season 1 a go for a complete season review. I do miss people talking about the series these days. As for what people call out the odd side of the fandom theirs that kind of group in every fandom. No shame being a mlp fan/Brony /) 😊

Ah, this takes me back to my Brony Years. Before I discovered TMNT, I used to watch these movies constantly. I remember having a huge crush on Adagio.
It´s funny how in the subtitles for when Celestia was telling the Mane 6 who Sunset Shimmer is, it says ¨And when she did not get what she wanted as quickly as she liked, she turned cool and dishonest¨ like yeah I gotta say she do be looking cool once she became a rebel and turned into a badass looking demon lol.
When I first saw the first Equestria girls movie I thought it was okay because sunset wasn't much of a great villain but i liked the other movies later on when sunset became one of the main character.
But that's just my opinion on the Equestria girls
