You inspired me to try something new this morning. I don’t know if you’ve tried this. I used my stencils and makeup brushes to apply distress inks and oxides to my photo paper DRY. You can get beautiful blends of color. Then I removed the stencil and sprayed water over my paper. Beautiful. I then sprayed a little water on the stencil and put it to a new wet phot paper to create the blended color negative of the first one. So fun! Thank you for stretching my creativity! ❤️
I also improvised, as I only had glossy photo paper, some distress inks, and some stencils. I applied the ink directly to the stencil and I'm still very happy with the results!
Absolutely amazing, and because it is waterproof it is superior than Gelli prints. I love when you are so excited about techniques and their results. Makes me excited to try them.
Okay Luise, I am sold! I was trying to resist buying more paper but after this video, I must! I love your results! Thank you so much for sharing with all of us! ❤
Absolutely amazing! The combination of different textures printed on this paper make this background so interesting it’s really mind blowing. ❤ I can’t wait what your creative mind will do next 😊
Gobsmacked!! Especially blown away by the second paper you made. I’m in aw! I wish I had more hours in the day that I could devote to playing and trying out all of your amazing techniques 😊❤️
This is very cool. I have another variation to gelli printing. I experimented using a silicon baking mat. And I used some extra foam rubber underneath like what you did with the felt as extra cushioning, and I used ordinary acrylic paint. The results were excellent and I'm looking forward to having the time to create some pages again!
I am totally fascinated by this technique and would love to try it. This art journey that you are you are going on is incredible. Don't stop your experimenting. There is so much that you are teaching others.
It's funny that just last night I was doing this technique with my embossing folder and oxides. Wet the photo paper and rub your oxides on the deposed side. Run it through the big shot. The results are gorgeous 😍
💚💚💚! This is a Million times better then regular gelli printing. Regular takes way to long. @TimHoltz should hire you. You do Ah-mazing things with his products. It’s Tina of free advertising and he is definitely getting sales! Thanks so much for sharing.
Oh my!!!! EVERY time you added more water and ink I held my breath and thought it would be ruined! Simply amazing that you discovered the waterproof effect on this paper! Amazon won't be able to keep it in stock! My fave was the embroidered flowers. WOW!
You got great results, i love it. I had no printer, so i used this photo paper trial image a fish. Used tracing paper and pencil to get image on, then permanent pen over top. I only had childs ink pads set of colors. Grabbed a paint brush, dabbed ink to paper with the brush until finished. No smears, but time consuming. My first trial was your water on paper and distressed oxides idea. I do like the results. But because not much experience, i prefer a more determined or expected, result. My tracing paper on fish was parchment paper, rub image onto paper, then redrawn where light with pencil. I do go over with permanent pen. I watch you and barbra alot. You two certainly can get creative juices running. Take care
This is gorgeous Luise. I just love when you share your experiments with us. Especially to help those that can’t afford all the extra equipment to achieve certain effects. ❤
Soooo many gorgeous effects from this. I especially love the layered paper, stencil + reinker & the die cut effects 💕 Oh & the lace! I bought a heap of scraps of lace for dying paper & it rarely works, but this is gorgeous 😱 You are a genius Luise! That 2nd page is absolutely stunning!!! Hope you scanned it!
Love watching your videos and your art. Rarely comment. However, this time I felt the need to do so. You can make your own gelatin plate using gelatin for cooking. There are several videos in YT explaining how to do so. Lindsay the Frugal crafter is one. Also you can use an acetate sheet or acetate packaging as a base to make 'gelli prints' with acrylic paint. This technique works best if a piece of foam is under the acetate. There sre a number of artists who have been using distress and alcohol inks on gel plates for years. Some of my favorites are Denise Lush, Sally Lynn McDonald and Ana Bondu, who are guest artists for Gel Press Monoprinting Art Program. Jennifer McGuire, who is a phenomenonal card maker and Tiffany Solorio, mixed media artist, both use distress inks on gel plates. 🦋
I ordered the “miracle” double sided photo paper that you suggested. Your results are so impressive, and I want to try it as soon as the paper arrives. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing the results of all your experimentation.
I’m thrilled with learning another use for my embossing folders!!! That technique is amazing. I never would have thought to try that. Thank you so much, Luise, for expanding our knowledge of what our various materials can create. You rock!
Brilliant…what can I say that I already haven’t said. You are so talented and a gifted artist. This is an amazing technique you discovered. I love this. I know you probably experimented many hours to perfect this technique. Thank you for sharing.
Really great ideas. I am so glad I found you. I like mixed media and jelly printing but I can't justify buying a jelly plate. I spend way too much money on this hobby just because it looks nice compared with how many birthday cards I actually make. Thank you so much for sharing your very creative talents❤👍💐
You are amazing! You're a work of art, truly. I've enjoyed all your videos even the ones in German! And your English is incredible. The progress you've made since your early videos is unbelievable. You inspire me ( and all who watch you, I'm sure). Love, Laura -an inspired 73-year-old!😊❤
MIND BLOWING. MIND BLOWING. MIND BLOWING. I wonder what the secondary effect would be if you placed paper between stencil and acrylic, and then also a secondary printing from the remainder of the ink from the embossing filter...... oh good golly but the possibilities!!!! Once again, you have ignited such creativity from within...... ✴️✴️✴️✴️✴️✴️
This is absolutely amazing...especially the stitched pattern ones. Great job. My first time here...l ordered a gel press and it was suppose to be delivered yesterday but wasn't. So fouund this sight and woohoo. So glad l can still work. Thanks so much. 🌿💞🌿
If anyone else finds it difficult to get braille paper, I just had a go at creating my own using an online website Braille Translator. I put in a quote and it translated it into Braille for me. I'm just copying it from the screen onto some cardstock sitting on a few tissues to create a soft surface underneath & am using a refillable lead pencil without the lead to press down firmly to deboss the dots. I don't have a small dot tool handy but that would work perfectly too, although the circular pencil tip works fantastically & using some thin foam, folded dried wet wipes, cloth or something underneath would work fine. I noticed that on the site I used, you can actually download the braille translation to print it off so you can just press down the dots & it even has an option to print as mirror image so it ends up the right way round on the embossed side. Looks great! 😀 And as a bonus, can be read by the visually impaired!
Hi Luise! Wow! This is awesome! I have looked up this paper on Amazon & it is available here in the US. HOORAY! I am wondering how things like flowers or leaves would print using this technique. I silk have to give it a b try. Thanks so much for sharing. I can't wait to try it out! You always have the greatest techniques and ideas! Have a joyful day today! Hugs! Sue ♥
This was very great!! I was inspired greatly. The circles with the brail instantly made me think galaxy! How cool for a galaxy themed journal. I guess my mind is always going to themed journals 😂 perhaps those are the type I should make then? I literally just finished my first complete journal today. I made it for my husband for his birthday but it was a little late because his birthday was February 29th. Anyway it started out as a “dark journal” one where he could put his sad thoughts but then the more I made it the more it just became funny instead so I changed it into a free for all journal and put so color in it and had some of our boys coloring and painting pages in there. It turned out very interesting. It was very simple really. I put most work into the cover and sewing in pockets. I left a lot of journal space and didn’t get very artsy with at pages. He’s a writer so I thought it would be best to leave it more for writing space. Hopefully he’ll use it. If not, it was a good test run!! I watch you and Barbara almost daily and have been binge watching videos because I want to catch up on your old videos as well. I think it’s cool to see how your creative process grows and changes over time. Your videos are very inspiring and I like how you make it look approachable. Sometimes we look at something and think how could I ever make that? But watching your videos and seeing the process broken down, it makes sense how one could do it. Thank you! 😊
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate new ideas and experiments - especially if they work 💚❤ I'll try to find some old unused photo papers in the cupboards and see how it goes.

I might try that also thanks for the inspiration

I'm probably missing the part about which side of the paper you print on.
It is SO FUN to be a part of your excitement when you get tickled about the results!😊
Absolutely amazing, and because it is waterproof it is superior than Gelli prints. I love when you are so excited about techniques and their results. Makes me excited to try them.

I just love the effects you are getting with the combo of photo paper and oxide inks. Thanks for sharing ❤
Great video, Luise. I’ve had a blast playing with photo paper, no longer being used to print photos.
It's funny that just last night I was doing this technique with my embossing folder and oxides. Wet the photo paper and rub your oxides on the deposed side. Run it through the big shot. The results are gorgeous 😍
Ohhh I think I’m in love!! The end result of the last one you did, is so amazing. I now have to get some of this paper. ❤❤❤
Love that you showed all the steps of applying different stencils, colors, and all. Magic magic magic!

I was amazed at how clearly the zig zag stitching printed out. This is a exciting technique.
