Noosa Tri 14. Why, cause you give the best recommendations Seth. I was looking for a shoe that I could do long runs with marathon pace miles (without splashing out on a CFP shoe). And the Noosa does the job excellently. Light and responsive, but enough cushion to go the distance.

QD: Although I always ran, I never had any instructions and used to get whatever shoes the salesman pointed me at the stores that wasn’t too expensive and felt “comfortable” (walking..!!).
I had an Adidas Ultraboost X for 2 years which I truly loved coz it allowed me back into running after a fasciitis.
I was for the first time focusing on running, training with an instructor, researching online and had 3 weeks left for my first half marathon when my Ultraboost kind of bursted 😂
I felt extremely insecure to get a completely new shoe right before my first 21k and being very inexperienced with different shoes…
I ended up choosing the Asics Noosa Tri 13. I had done a huge online reviews marathon so I was as informed as possible when I hit the stores and the Noosa was the best available option, also reasonable price and it was an aaawe experience trying it. Now I’m back here online researching coz I need new shoes (and this time I’m gonna try to buy 2 for different training days)

QOD: The last running shoe I purchased was a pair of ASICS Fuji LITE 2s. I've used bottom of the line Solomon shoes in the past and could feel my legs give out on longer runs consistently due to lack of cushioning in the midsole. I wanted to try the Fuji LITE 2s for the cushioning and added spring they provide. It also helped that I found them online from a guy in my area for $70 unused. Needless to say they've entirely changed my perspective on what a trail running shoe can be and I'm excited to spend some amazing time on the trail knowing that I can trust the shoes on my feet. Your review helped me find the perfect shoe for what type of runs I love doing!

The main reason why I bought the Saucony Tempus was because I needed a more of an uptempo day shoe that still gave me support where I need it. I love how it is light for a stability shoe, fun to push the pace in, and still keeps me locked in. I watched your full review on this shoe and that’s what made me go out and purchase it.

QD: Last pickup was the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 24 and couldn’t be more happy with it! I tried several Hoka models in search of the perfect plush trainer, but I finally found it in the Nimbus! Loved the video but I think both the Nimbus and the Saucony Ride 15 definitely deserve a spot in the matrix (Easy/Daily). Sending prayers for your speedy recovery! Peace!

QD: The Nike ZoomFly 5 was the most recent shoe I purchased. Despite it being a very polarizing shoe between people who like and don’t like it over the history of the shoe, I’ve always felt that it was a great shoe for hitting workouts in regardless of the weight. There’s something magical about crushing most of your speed/tempo/threshold runs for a cycle in a heavier shoe and then slipping on the VaporFly for race day. Seth, I know you put a lot of “weight” into your reviews around weight, but weight always has its time and place, and I feel we’ve been spoiled with all the great shoes out there. As many fun and light shoes there are to run in out there, unless it’s my race day shoe, I’m probably not putting a lot of focus in on weight. I care more about comfort, lockdown, and ride. Keep up the awesome work! Your matrix videos are some of my favorites you do.

I ran in the Pearl Izumi's and loved them. After a jones fracture in 2017 I never felt comfortable in shoes. Tried asics gel cumulus, altra escalante, skechers forza and others and had terrible foot pain on any run over 45 minutes. I started watching your channel (and other running shoe channels) and discovered Hoka. I thought their meta-rocker sounded similar to the pearl izumi rocker geometry. I went with the clifton edges for a wider base (hoping it would help my foot pain) and low and behold, it did. For the first time in 5 years I could run naturally without foot pain. For 5 years I hated running because of the amount of time I'd need to ice my foot and never really feeling comfortable. Now I'm back. Running without pain was such an addiction, I found myself running nearly every day and getting back in the groove. I picked up a pair of standard clifton's and they've been a great addition as well.

QoD: Many reasons. I bought the novablast 2 late June this year because I had never even run in an asics shoe before so I wanted to try out the additional cushioning because before I was in the mach 4. I also bought it because I needed the arch support and I already thought it looked cool

QOD: I just bought a pair of alphaflys from the Nike site because the prices were dropped 30% for certain colorways and there was a discount code for an additional 20% off. Paid $158 for them. Full marathon coming up in November so it was a no brainer. Last week I did the same thing with the vaporflys. Ended up buying them for $139 from the Nike site on sale plus additional %20 with promo code. I found that my Saucony endorphin pro2s we're just beating up my feet and legs way too much after 100 miles of races. Happy I made the switch as Nike has always fit my foot great.

QD: The last show I bought was the Saucony Kinvara 13. The main reason I bought it was how it felt when I tried it on the treadmill in the shop. I was replacing my Altra Escalante Racers after over 2000 kms. I loved them, but based on your reviews I thought I would compare the Kinvara's to a new pair of Escalante Racers when I went into the shop. I wasn't expecting much because Saucony's don't usuall fit my feet but this one did. It felt great. The Kinvara 13 gave me a bit more cushion than the Escalante Racer without being mushy like the Escalante 2.5. I am a few months into them and so far, so good. Thanks for the heads up on them Seth. Without your review, I never would have tried them.

    OMG THE MATRIX!

  • @carverac
    @carverac 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Maybe it's because people haven't asked for it, or it's not a common issue, but it would be nice if you'd add heavier runners and climbing/descending characteristics.
Most of my shoes (Asics/New Balance/Brooks/Saucony) handle these pretty well. But I feel like I completely wasted $140 by getting the Hoka Mach 5.
As a heavier runner, they completely bottom out on the soft Profly+ foam when running downhill and feel like I'm running on cheap shoes. Luckily they're still ok
as a short tempo shoe on level ground, but for heavier people, the Profly+ compresses to the point of feeling like they're slamming into the ground. And this is on less than 100 miles.

QD: I’ve run in all types of shoes and I always chose with one thing in mind:
#1 reason is always whichever shoe I think is going to help me stay healthy. If there’s a little ache sometimes a good shoe choice can help. I take in to account how my weight feels distributed underfoot, if there are any pressure points on foot-strike, any issues with the upper (like when you need a bandaid for the Achilles 🚨), and lastly I use a little bit of runners intuition. 🤓

I raced in my 1st pair of them at Boston U in the IC4A 4x8 and, since I tend to race a bit aggressive, the upper got absolutely sliced before the first 400. Still held out to get me to a 1:53.17 relay split, but not enough for me to race in em again.

Reason being is that I’m a big endorphin speed fan, but I needed something as a workhorse with a touch of stability and more longevity than the speed to protect the legs daily. Nike invincible 2 - To be able to run more often without getting injured. Have the Saucony Endorphin speed for tresh/tempo runs, but I never use them anymore. My legs and feet gets too tired. The invincible is just too comfy and bouncy, so I stick with them instead. Better be able to run often than once and fast. Don't know about you guys but I can run pretty fast with them.

Tecton X": I bought it a few days ago, and I ran about 10 miles on Saturday. I should say it was one of the most comfortable trail shoes I have ever tried, I felt like I was running on the clouds. The only issue was that I rolled my ankle twice. I felt I need to be more careful when I'm out there running with these shoes.

Saucony Endorphine speed 3 - I just saw my local running store had them in, and reviews said they were even better than the previous version, among other things regarding to stability. That's precisely what I missed from speed 2, so although I have many shoes now I just had to try the speed 3 out as soon as I could.

QD: in late March on an impulse I signed up for a 3 trail run series (each about 10 miles). But I didn't have any trail running shoes. My first choice from reviews was the Speedgoat 5 but they were unavailable in my size, and I wanted to have the chance to train in them before the race. So I went with SG4s. They performed well, I especially appreciated the traction both in mud and steep rocky descents.

QD: Asics gel Kayano 23. I have very flat feet and the Kayano is the best shoe I've found to run in. Without that I start getting sore knees and hips so it's a must for me. I liked the old 23 because it had a good amount of gel in the forefoot which I really liked. The new Kayano 29 might be ok with the FF Blast in the forefoot instead, but I think they've lightened up on the stability: we'll see how that part goes.
