QOD: Seth I’m running the Chicago Marathon this October. I ran it back in 2019 and had only been running since early 2017. I turn 50 this weekend and feel better today then ever before. I have fell in love with running but mainly trails. Since starting in 2017 I’ve ran up to a 50 mile trail race and definitely is where my heart is. Looking forward to Chicago and beating my PR by a lot. I appreciate you and the DGR family. I’ve learned so much over the years from you. Everyone have a blessed day and have fun training.

QOD. Got the invincibles for those easy days, Rebel V2's or Ultra glides if hitting trail for those more peppy tempo runs and break out the vaporfly for the threshold runs. I think your vlogs have given me so much education on running shoes and showing me that different shoes serve different purposes. in the past I would have just gone to a store and blindly bought what i think "looked" like a good shoe to run in. Thanks for all the daily entertainment and Wishing you a speedy and healthy recovery. All the best from Aberdeen Scotland

Training for the Dublin marathon at the end of October. Nice review of the various shoes. I have wider feet so my rotation reflects this.
    Recovery - Brooks Glycerin 19 2E
    Daily - NB 880v11 2E
    Tempo - NB Fuelcell TC
    Long Run - Asics Nimbus 24 2E
    Threshold - NB Fuelcell TC
Also using NB RC elite V2 for some of the marathon pace efforts and probably will use this on race day.

I got diagnosed with covid last September and I got long haulers covid and had so much trouble running after. I finished off my cross country season and then was off and on but not consistent at all. Last week I decided I need to start running again and I finally am going strong almost 2 weeks back and am so happy to be part of the community again. Also I’ve been running in the peg 39 absolutely love them

QD. I have London in October. Be my 3rd time running it. 2:50, 2:41. So hopefully I can get a sub 2:40 and London championship entry for April next year. Will also be running Chicago marathon next year.
Make sure you take your time and don't rush back with this injury. As runners we can tend to want to start running again before we should. So get back fit and strong and I'm sure you can have a strong finish at the end of the year

    QD:
    Most runs: Asics GlideRide3
    Tempo: New Balance Rebel v2
The GlideRide3 is such a shoe. Great on long runs, and even feels good picking up the pace for a fast finish long run. Such a win for Asics!
Plan to race in the MagicSpeed 2

#1: I have 30 miles on the Saucony Tempus, which I am rotating with my Asics Novablast 2s for daily and long runs. As a neutral runner, I'm appreciating the added stability and injury protection. I use the Saucony Endorphin Speed for uptempo workouts. If you're considering the Tempus, be forewarned that they take 20+ miles to break in. #2: I'm planning on a fall marathon, probably Baystate on 16 October, contingent on keeping injuries at bay until then!

I am training for the CIM and am going to be training in the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 for most of my runs, and have the Noosa Tri 14 as a non plated daily! I am a heavier person from weight training (185lbs at the moment) so the added support will be greatly beneficial as the mileage builds up

    Currently training for my third half marathon this year and this is my shoe rotation for a training block;
    1. Recovery/Easy days - Puma Eternity Nitro (works for me when the legs are tired)
    2. Daily- Puma Velocity Nitro v2/ Asics Noosa TR14
    3. Tempo/Fartlek- Saucony Endorphin v1/NB Rebel v2
    4. Mid/Long run- Asics Glideride 2/Asics Novablast v2 (great shoe if you need to do some speed work during a long run)
    5. Threshold- Saucony Pro v1
    Trails- NB Hierro v7

I'm training for the Philadelphia Marathon in November with this being my 3rd marathon. I've been loving the Asics novablast 2 and Saucony guide 15 for my long and easy runs. I also just got the Saucony Tempus for workouts and I love them. Only wore them once but it was amazing

I have my first marathon in October in Amsterdam. You’re absolutely right Saucony has been killing it. I use the endorphin speed 2 for the majority of my training. As a matter of fact I bought two pairs. They’re great! I will probably race in them. If not I might go with the endorphin pro. Thanks for all the informative content Seth. I’m a big fan.

Daily Easy Mile: New Balance 880 v12
Long Runs: New Balance 1080 v12
Race Day: New Balance RC Elite v2
Trails: New Balance More Trail or Saucony Peregrine 12
New Balance has always made a shoe that worked for me every time. They fall into the good to great range. Other companies, like Saucony, fall into bad to great. I got tired of trying shoes that just didn't work for me, so I pretty much stick with New Balance now. I'll probably replace these with the latest versions as they become available, and add in the new Rebel or Pacer when it becomes available. No hurry, though. The 880 feels great for tempo work already.

I am currently training in a asics gt4000 for my second marathon in October. As you said, thats when the marathon season starts! I have just started my training this week. I am running all of my runs in these shoes. You suggest to run in different shoes for lets say different type of runs in this video, but is there an advantage for using different type of shoes? I mean you can also get more used to one shoe and benefit from that. Just curious to hear your opinion about this!

Almost through my training block, culminating this Sunday in Rotterdam for a half marathon!
I'm currently running in two pairs of Mach 4s (one for easy days, one for speedwork), a pair of Triumph 18s for long runs (they feel very heavy though, gonna sub em out for something lighter in the future!), and currently doing occasional threshold on my racing shoes, the Rocket X! There's a bunch of shoes I'd like to sub in n out to refine my line-up, but so far it's working for me ^^

QOD: I have my first Marathon in October and 4 weeks into training. My easy day/recovery shoes/daily are ASICS Nimbus 24, Nike Pegasus 39 & New Balance 1080v11. For tempos/workouts I have a few to choose from depending on what I'm doing so, New Balance Rebel V2, Adidas Adizero Pro, New Balance Pacer & New Balance FC Elite 2. For anything that's marathon specific, a long run workout I have a newer pair of Nike Alphafly (what I'll race in) & a older pair of Alphafly. Don't intend to get anything else but you never know.

QOD - Hey Seth, I am running the London Marathon for the British Liver Trust in October and it'll be my first marathon. I've recently come back to running in the past couple years after multiple years off due to increasing poor health. I watch every day and DGR has been a massive source of inspiration during this time. I used to run shorter distance track and cross country in my teens. Now I'm predominantly a trail runner, but I found I couldn't say no when the opportunity to run for a charity that has supported me personally came up. I have an extremely rare liver disease that has caused me issues throughout my life, something that has only recently been able to be controlled via enzyme replacement therapies and changes in lifestyle. One of those being regular running and what I consume to aid that. Running with the illness I have can throw up barriers when training. Some days I can run 7 minute miles with ease or like today, running a 10 minute mile became very difficult. Still even on those days I'm thankful to still be here, to still be doing what I'm doing and loving the gift of being outside in the world running. Thanks DGR for hyping me up to run daily and anyone who doesn't think they can run due to health problems, keep at it, its so worth it whatever speed we are running at.
    Aaron

Thanks for the video! I'm running the Honolulu Marathon in December. This will be my 4th in a row! My goal is sub-4 hour. My go-to for easy, mid-distance or long-distance has been the Nike Pegasus. I've also used the Hoka One One Rincon. For speed work and race day, I used the Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%.

Aiming for my 5th marathon in March 2023 (yes I know it's not autumn time) so I've just added Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 and New Balance RC Elite 2 to my collection while they are discounted 😎
I've never ran in Saucony shoes before so looking forward to a first run this weekend in them🏃

although I won't be running a marathon I spoiled myself last month by buying the Glideride 3 (Love, love, love them. and I was a big fan of the no's 1) and, because they're affordable now, the endorphin speed 2. Quite different shoes and I still do have to get used to the speeds, but my rotation for the coming autumn and winter is covered. If I can pinch some more pennies I will buy another pair of Glideride 3 because I can't imagine the v4 being better.
    Hope you recover soon.

I do a lot of my base building and long runs in the Mizuno wave rider 25. It’s a really durable shoe especially for out here on some of the dirt roads of VT. I’m used to running a lot of miles in it. For the thresholds/intervals i picked up a cheap pair of saucony endorphin pro 2’s. These are right on par with the original vapor fly IMO and seem more durable for more miles. I was planning to race in the saucony Endorphin Pro 3, but could reconsider that and might use the shoe more for longer threshold efforts, and maybe some prep races

Easy - NB fresh foam more V3 - I could wear this shoe all the time. I need to buy some stock to have as they're just the best!
Daily - Pegasus 39 (meh, would rather switch it up but got flights to buy)
Tempo - Speed 2 just picked up a pair for £90 (bargain)
    Trails - Fuji Lite 2
Race day - undecided for Chicago Marathon, need to make a decision (endorphin pro 3, next %2 or Alpha 1/2)

My training set is one pair of SL20.2 (nearing 600km) for easy run, one pair of RC2 for some tempo and interval runs, one pair of adios5 for an occasional tempo run, and another pair of SL20.2 for the weekend longer runs - aim is to run a marathon end of Aug in the adios5.
I am not a very fast runner - yet to break 4h15m 🙂

QD: training for the St. George Marathon using mainly old Vaporfly 4% (the lower stack height works well for me on intervals, even on the track) and the Streakfly for speed runs, old Vaporfly Next% and Alphafly 1’s for long runs, and alternating Pegasus and Invincible for daily training and recovery days. Still deciding between the new Alphafly 2 and the more proven Vaporfly 2 for race day.

Running a half marathon in the fall and a marathon in the spring so I'm already buying shoes for my marathon training as there are some good deals out there right now. I'm thinking Hoka Mach 5s for easy/steady running, Saucony Endorphin Speed 2s for tempos/thresholds and speed workouts and then the Saucony Endorphine Pro 3s for race day.

I would love to see a recommendation like this with all shoes of at least 8mm drop. Less than that and my Achilles flares up. On 8-10mm I do fine. Kinvara for example my Achilles starts hurting within the first mile. BTW I am doing Portland Marathon October 2nd a week after getting married. I use Saucony Ride for longer runs, Brooks Ghost for easy runs, NB Fresh Foam Arishi for speed, and Saucony Endorphin Pro for racing.

Thank you Seth! For preparing for 1500m to 5000 track is the shoe selection similar for the different types of workouts? Ex. An easy day might be 5 miles and the “long run” might be no more than 10? So would that one tempo shoe for the track and one long run selection? Or is track training just totally different shoe selection?
Also-Could you share some of your CU track video if you have any-and also workouts from “back in da day!”?? :))

My first official marathon is early December (ran two last year, but alone) so I hesitate a lot between Glideride3 or Metaspeed Sky (got a pair I use for 10k and half marathon races, but not sure how it will feel at slower pace of 5:00 per km)

QD: No fall marathon, just Boston next spring. However, today I registered with a friend to do the CIM Relay, so I’ll be doing the 1st, longer half (13.6?) Current rotation includes the Saucony Ride15 and Cloudmonster for LR’s, Hyperion Tempo for speed work and shorter, faster runs, and using up older pairs of Endorphin Speed 1 and 2 for misc.--they do it all. I’ve been doing my marathons in the latter, but recently bought the Asics Edge+ which I hope to use for CIM and Boston. Martha. PS. If I do any 5-10K’s I’ll be using the Takumi Sen8. I loved it on its maiden voyage @ BolderBoulder

: I'm using two pairs for the fall marathon training block:
Recovery - Daily - Long Run: Nike invincible run. They're perfect for me. (I've just got a new a pair of the second iteration for 99€ during the sales for when I'll reach 500 km with the actual pair of the first model)
Threshold - Tempo - Intervals: Nike Zoom FLy 4 (same here, found another pair for less than 70€ during sales. Waiting to "finish" the current pair)
I've got to save some money for raceday shoes
Also thanks for the comment of the day pick up!
