    Maejima
An island located 300m off the coast of Ushimado, located in the southeastern part of Okayama Prefecture. It is a hilly terrain and consists of granite. Stone was cut out from this island when Osaka Castle was rebuilt in the early 17th century. There are guest houses and pensions on the island, and it is crowded with tourists mainly in the summer. In addition, vegetables such as cabbage and watermelon are actively cultivated. The entire island is a fishing spot, and many anglers visit it. Also known as "Green Island". The entire island is designated as a national park, and the eastern half is a protection forest with fish and a health protection forest. For this reason, nature such as beautiful green pine forest remains, and you can enjoy clamming on the sandy beach. The "eelgrass forest" that spreads out in a shallow cove is also a place for local residents to learn, and was selected as one of the "100 Views of the Island's Treasure" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in 2009. (See "Shimadas")
    Huangdao
It is an island located about 500m southeast of Maejima, which lies off Ushimado, and is designated as a special area of Setonaikai National Park. "Kijima" is written in "Kibi Onsen", and there are historic sites such as the Huangdao shell mound and burial mounds of the Jomon period discovered in 1943. There used to be residents and upland farming. In 1960, the population was 63. After that, the religious group Shinji Shumeikai owned the land, and facilities such as temples were built from the end of the Showa period to the beginning of the Heisei period. Now that the cultivated land has been cultivated, only those involved are on the island. (See "Shimadas")
    Kuroshima
A beautiful island with abundant nature designated as a special area of Setonaikai National Park, 2km south of Ushimado Port. Also, since 1976, it has been designated as a youth island in Okayama prefecture, and you can enjoy camping. There used to be a small shipyard. In the 1970s, there were 6 houses and 30 people, and they cultivated pumpkins and cabbage. It was unmanned in 2018. In recent years, "Kuroshima Venus Road" has been attracting attention. Thank you for your comment 😊 As you said, there seemed to be few abandoned houses. It seems that agriculture and fisheries and tourism are going well.

This Island looks prosperous & facinating to see the oyster shells used like that! Did you drink any Sake when you went to Ushimado?
Interesting to see the old photos from 1997 compared to now. Did you just take photos then or did you make videos as well? Nice building at 14:16 - Great video!

Thank you for your comment 😊 Ushimado is one of the most scenic spots in the Seto Inland Sea. I didn't drink because it was a car, but I love sake 😘
