I always do mine with the bike in 1st gear. never had a problem. Although im on a yz400f... The thing takes so much torque to move it that id never in my life be able to spin the counter shaft with it in 1st gear. hell I cant even bump start it in any gear lower than 4th while riding down hill at a decent speed.
@@persistenthustle my buddy has a wr250 that I’ve worked on and I can promise you it weighs less than my 400 by a significant noticeable amount. That bike isn’t 300 pounds.
Hello, I am in Ghana (Africa) I have a wr250 but the front sprocket is dommaged but I can't find it here , can one give me a site I can buy or a shop in the US my sister can buy for me thanks
Good job. 2 things though. 1) your sprocket was way too loose to begin with. They should be a pain to loosen, and yours was way too easy. I dont think it was torqued on correctly to begin with. 2) You should look into getting a Sandman Case Saver instead of that OEM sprocket housing. Easier to clean all of the mud/debris out of that area, and it protects your cases a lot better. Love mine.
it was defiantly not torqued right. i replaced the factory sprocket on mine when my bike had 3k last month and put new chain and both sprockets cause i wanted to changed to 13/47 and the front sprocket was on very tight! his broke free with not much effort. and sandman case saver is the way to go!

It's amazing how those buckets can support the 300 lbs bike!
That bike doesnt weigh 300 pounds. I ride a 1998 yz400f and that still doesnt wiegh 300 pounds. My yz400f is 265 with a full tank.
@@Dirt_Serpent WR250r has 295 lbs claimed wet weight, plus the tank bag and the saddle bags, I will say 300 lbs is about right :)
@@persistenthustle that doesn’t sound right. When the 400 only has 265 claimed wet weight

Just had mine done but cost 600$ because the front sprocket was put on by dealership and needed a heat coil to take off
