I remember watching him on TV in 1996 olympics , i was a kid but i never forgot his name and face to this day, respect to Italians one of the biggest sport nations in the world. From croatia ♥️
Thanks man! It’s an honour to have him among us and a pleasure to have you as neighbours here, Croatia is stunning. Also the other Italian in this thread was making a joke about WWII, he wasn’t actually insulting you lol
He shows perfectly how to fight Injuries and Age. I personally think that he deserves another gold medal: still motivational and hypnotic at the Age of 50. Chapeau
“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” -Socrates
That's odd. 🤔 Whenever *I* get tired and plan to skip my workout, I watch this video and start.... To think I'll never attain this kind of raw strength and a body like that (even at 50). Then I don't workout. I just cry, and I blame, and eat burgers or cookies or both.
Superb. In modern gymnastics, the dismount from the ring as evolved with so many spins, twisted somersaults etc.. detracting from the main part of the ring routine which is ( or rather was) pure strength. And sure enough , modern gymnasts can fly on these dismounts but there are not as strong as gymnasts of yesteryears. Very few gymnasts can do a sustained perfect iron cross these days. I wish we could get back to work on improving past routines for the rings these days and forget complicated dismounts.
Look at his inverted cross, it's not as good as nowadays athletes. Plus nowadays there's much more harder strength move like zanetti, van gelder, butterfly to inverted cross, etc
I'm Italian and so proud to have had an absolute legend like him in my country. He is the embodiment of what an human body should be able to accomplish
Great great athlete, even greater human being. His mindset, positive attitude, and determination, as well as hard work brought him the success he deserved. Even after multipe serious injuries he always came back. He returned to compete on 2004, to fulfill a promise he had done to his father while he was fighting for life. His goal was to qualify and he got bronze, at almost 35!
somehow I ended up here because of a TikTok, I don’t know who JURY IS, “lord of the rings” he was just mention, any ways craziest sport I’ve seen !! so much strength you need to have, 🤯geez 🤯
Saturday evening, I just got this YT suggestion while thinking about getting some chips and beer from the kitchen. I pass....at least for now. Immensly impressive what he did!
And he's lethally funny too! Him and Sara Simeoni did the comment show about the Olimpics games in 2021, it's my first time watching the post-game discussion, they were so great. I spent the time rotfling, tbh.
@@kalamity6356 Well, in terms of achievements i guess Scherbo takes the cake (he won many medals). But in this case i was being specific about "being better at working the rings".
Incredible Yuri! By the way you guys should check Eleftherios Petrounias (Greek and current gold metalists on rings)he does crazy things and superb iron Cross without false grip and ropes shaking..
I remember him and watching Watts Zap during an Olympis!a woman let out a loud Gasp when he did the 1st Iron Cross! and he looked her way, and gave her a nod!
1:23 - "How long can he hold this cross..." . About 8 seconds, epic. Anyway aging still sucks. Not only can't he get better, he can do less and less. For no moral reason whatsoever. Making room for others is circular reasoning because we create them. The point is that we cannot yet save ourselves from decay.

Not raw for sure

here to insinuate about the use of doping are all Olympic medalists, right?
The way he switch between ultra dynamic movement and static positions. So much ease. Beautiful and inspiring to watch.

Not the GOAT, but the probably the cleanest iron cross in history
Undefeated 1993 -1997 .. it’s a goat thing in itself
Yes he is the goat, also better that van gelder

BRAVISSIMO,,,,,,,,,

Considering the title, and OF COURSE he still is the Lord of the Rings, you should have used another music. But thanks, great video.
He had the worst luck. Yuri deserved more than one shot at the Olympics. But, he made them count when he finally made it in 1996.
Mostro !

one day he has to share his secret of defying gravity...
judging by the way he looks, i believe his wife is very very happy
and he draws the gaze of young 20 years old chicks
