@@christoffereilertsen9447 they don't compete just the normal cross wich is only a B element. Usually they compete Azarian cross or Pineda which is much harder and rated as an D element. It's still easy for them tho cause they're so strong to do multiple reps of it..
The only thing missing from his routine is a perfectly straight victorian..he has amazing control..holding everything long enough without false grip..he opens his palms doing god grip iron cross..love this guy..very humble and down to earth
Can someonr explain to me how he fares against others of the top elite competitors? Are his static holds unique, or are all thr best ring gymnasts able to do these to almost the same extent? I only ask because it's rare to have someone truly superior in an olympic sport, so it makes me curious :)
Daniel Svalestad many gymnasts can do this routine but norms with the open palms he does. He gets no additional points for open palm but his control is better than others

About pure strength this guy does everything on rings and not on a still bar which makes it even harder, meaning this guy has a better fibers recruitment (due to the instability of rings) and so more possible strength to create But regarding strength endurance for sure some Calisthenics/street Workout athletes can match him, but only if they stay with their still bars

@@menios6794 I would argue that van gelder is not a lord anymore. He hasn't competed since 2016 and was barred from competition for cocaine use and excessive drinking prior to 2016 Olympic finals. I think Liu Yang took his title the following year and i personally think he had better positions.
They aren’t valuable enough to be worth competing, he actually has a skill named after him to inverted cross though, it’s a Pineda to inverted cross. Planche and Maltese are much easier to get flat than inverted cross and Victorian so most gymnasts do them instead
