I think it’s just a plus that the o3 can get great footage. The main purpose however is the image for the pilot and the range. Only reason not to use the o3 would be in extreme low light where a vista starlight would probably outshine in that situation.
I was just thinking about picking one of these up for my pavo35. It seems to be off balance when I have my GoPro Hero 11 fat on there. How's she fly with it?
The main appeal i think for me with the o3 system is the incrased image quality in my V2 goggles and improved range and penetration not so much the 4k recording/Stabilisation
Look Im running the dji 03 but I wouldnt hesitate to run a thumb pro on a setup like you if need be and Id be happy! Look at how amazing it has done for the price! Thanks for bringing this up Im going to build one now just because lol
Another GR8 vid. Thanks!! Main use of the ND on video..is really only to reduce the exposure by slowing the shutter speed. The end result is to prevent abnormal 'flicker' in bright sunny conditions thus emulating some of the 'motion blurr' seen and registered by a human eye.
that tpu mount does the oppisite of extra stabilisation, it adds a lot of jello and noise to the stabilisaion gyro, its far better off being mounted more rigid, you want it to have some give, but not wobble
I would like to see the Go 2 compared to the 03. Particularly with post stabilization. I think the stabilization of the Insta 360 app is far superior to Gyroflow and damn near as good as RSG. I think the Go 2 is still the best compact option.
The bitrate of the 03 is definitely better than the runcam thumb pro based on this comparison, so foliage will probably look better on the 03. But they are both impressive
It really did! I’m actually pretty suprised! It honestly looked better then the 03 but it was an indoor flight also! Outside light comparison my be abit different but I plan to have an 03 soon! Maybe the new chimaera 7 or avata not sure what I want yet! I kinda like the camera drone quality’s of the avata and being able to bring my daughter flying is awesome! And the recent videos of that chimara 7 are incredible! Dudes are flying at the top of peaks that’s what I wanna do so bad lol! And being where I’m from in Washington state I have that an hour away! In the cascade mountains here! Can’t wait to have the confidence to fly mountains! Thanks for the info my pnw brother keep up the good work!!
Well I guess for recording purposes I would definitely get the RunCam Thumb pro, but if I wanted better video quality, then you can't really beat the DJI 03. But I can't hook it up the pro to my vtx. I have a runcam thumb V1 and love it.
I think the runcam thumb pro would be even better if it had a 165 - 170° fov but it‘s great for what it costs. Looking forward to trying the O3 and being able to see the difference myself while flying. ;) - Nice video btw. 👍
89 plus a vista comes out as more then a O3 no? I am thinking about getting a vista with the polar cam + runcam for a freestyle build that I can fly in very dark conditions.
Buen video, pero hay una razon muy especifica, si lo que buscas es grabacion desde action cam, esta bien, pero a diferencia de la thumb pro, la O3 envia la senal HD a las gafas, y eso es algo que muchos pilotos buscan. Good video, but there is a very specific reason, if what you are looking for is action cam recording, that's fine, but unlike the thumb pro, the O3 sends the HD signal to the glasses, and that is something that many pilots look for.
is the Runcam Thumb Pro 4k a fpv camera that can be hooked up to a vtx? or is it like a go-pro for just recording footage? threw me off comparing it to the o3 fpv system because i thought runcams were similar to gopros.
Want to get into FPV. Question, why are there 2 cameras? Seems like one should do it all or I guess I am missing something. Thought extra weight and drag elimination would be goal one but must be missing something here.
The DJI o3 is also the vtx. So it's also transfering video to the goggles. In this case it's just for show but no other vtx can output 4k so it's a comparison of buying a more expensive vtx or a cheaper vtx + camera for getting 4k footage
From your review it is hard to tells which is better in terms of quality. but for person who occasionally "fly for video" O3 is just over priced. also O3/Avata with goggle 2 doesn't give you a great great leap of clarity and sharpness view for pilot, the video still compressed in goggles (this is how my friend thats doing first hand review for goggle2 told me, they having the unit weeks before official launch).
Price of the Thumb pro should be compared to the difference of price between the Vista and the O3, which is quite similar. Whatever I own both, and yes the Thumb pro is great, slightly less quality without video postprocessing compared to O3. Of course the advantage of the 03 with the internal memory and remote controlled for all video setup. Thank you for that interesting comparison
On point Mr camps, thanks! You flown the DJI FPV drone and air unit with nebula pro, there is too much difference in flight video quality? (When flying with V2 googles) thanks Mr camps
Don't hate DJI just love the old school look of analog. I have Phantom 4 pro V2 and totally wished I would have started with FPV quad first. There so many changes happening with digital if you want to chase that dog that's fine but don't really have to do that with analog. The only internet I have is on my phone which already makes this hobby hard to get into several trip to town to use computer and internet not fun but worth it! When they get internet in my neck of the woods I will be jumping on the digital band wagon. Not a money issue but a constant update and new software is the problem for me switching to digital.

I’m actually impressed with the video quality of the thumb pro and for the price I picked one up for my Pavo30

Ya I really don't think this was positioned correctly
Look Im running the dji 03 but I wouldnt hesitate to run a thumb pro on a setup like you if need be and Id be happy! Look at how amazing it has done for the price! Thanks for bringing this up Im going to build one now just because lol

The o3 brings out the color more than the thumb pro .but I thank the thumb pro is well worth the money. You pay for it.
I’m still running the OG Runcam 5 orange and a Caddx Air unit haha 😂
Can't beat the price of the Run Cam Thumb Pro. Great job showing all the differences, pro's and a con.
Screw the haters man, you keep 100 and its all good, its a good option for those tight on cash.
Absolutely.

Thanks for this video. I may start running all Runcam links + the Thumb Pro on my quads. Seems like a cheap alternative to 03s.
It is

Great video! Should be getting my runcam thumb pro today. Going to wire it up to a cetus x.
The bitrate of the 03 is definitely better than the runcam thumb pro based on this comparison, so foliage will probably look better on the 03. But they are both impressive
Wow that thumb pro does look really nice! Nice comparison! Now i want both 😂
I think it did pretty good !

Maybe because the thumb is flat color profile. After color correction it probably would look much better

We are not saying get a vista. We are talking guys on a budget.
Lol, I just ordered a polar and planned stick with runcam for night flight. most of the time I fly without additional camera.
What settings did you use on the Thumb Pro, regarding shutter and ISO? Automatic?
Did you review the walnut? I can't find it.

you dont fly with the dji fpv remote2?
Maybe when I bust the DJI Action2 I’ll go this route. Great review!

It’s like a GoPro. We compared the footage not the vtx options.
But O3 allow you to use 4k/120fps while Thumb Pro not.

What’s with all the green flaring on the 03 lens? It so noticeable.
Probably a water droplet
Is it better than caddx wallet?

Great video. I will probably use the O3 only for long range…

Thats crazy the 03 has those floating orbs/reflections
On point Mr camps, thanks! You flown the DJI FPV drone and air unit with nebula pro, there is too much difference in flight video quality? (When flying with V2 googles) thanks Mr camps
I need to get me one of them Thumb Pro 4k cams. I mean, for $90 its a no brainer. 🧠
