    The early trucks also have a egr temp sensor. You can even see it in this video its sticking out of the back of the intake horn. They relocated it in later models (2010 and up) like you said in the egr cross over pipe.
    The one thing that is missing in the video is the oil filler cap.

    Clean the valve, it’s easy and hundreds of dollars cheaper than replacing the egr valve.

    I have a ISB 6.7 and I am getting black smoke. I think you just showed me my problem, I am holding over to my yard to look now. I am not a mechanic, I just play one on TV, and at work...

    Thank you for the advice of replacing it but you forgot to tell the price ? Over $800 so I will keep cleaning it every 70k miles 😊

      I’ll add, clean it yourself, and don’t let the dealer touch it for $1800 complete rip off by Chrysler they think you’re made of money

      I was about to say the same thing plus the dealership sells a cleaner specifically for cleaning these things as well as its a recommended maintenance at 67500.

      A 10 year old who can fix a bike can remove, clean, and reinstall a Cummins EGR valve with his mothers cleaning supplies and basic tools.

      Should I just replace all the gaskets and get the leak free gaskets. Im gonna be deleting my truck this year so just need a fix for now plus I don’t think it’s messed up just bad gaskets

      @@Puffdaddyjose you can. I always replace gaskets because I don’t like to do the job twice when one starts to leak.

    If you have to replace it then why does Mopar make egr cleaner?

    Not worth cleaning if you are rich, but if you are not just clean it and ignore the sponsor advise.

    Great Video. You mentioned EGR temps. What are the normal EGR temps the 6.7l Cummins should be at? Thanks

    • @tomsmith9199
      @tomsmith9199 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m looking all over the internet for that answer myself, I can’t find it anywhere. After letting off of moderate acceleration, I’m seeing temps topping out at 419°F. Sometimes hanging at 419° for a while before coming back down to @ 220° - 240°. All while pulling 7,000lb trailer.

    If the EGR is stuck open would that cause white smoke? I don't think it's injectors because I don't have a miss, but my truck is throwing 4 codes. 2 EGR codes, 1 MAF code, and 1 turbo lose communication code. My truck with idle then go into high idle and start blowing smoke. This happens about 5 to 10 minutes after start up.

      I found this video because my 2013 Ram 2500 6.7 turned the check engine light on. My truck isn't hesitating or has any lack of power and one forum said that the light goes on for major maintenance at 67,500 miles which is about where I'm at. This is a good video because the other one I watched said to rip the EGR valve off and clean it with special cleaner. I had to special order it from Dodge and it was $25.

    • @moocow2529
      @moocow2529 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually check engine light for EGR Valve fault is what causes the concern to have the truck brought in for repairs. You may not feel an difference in power or driveability, but if the PCM detects something is wrong, such as EGR pressure, and triggers the check engine light, this video describes perfectly the part that's the culprit. I'd have to agree with the comments on cleaning vs replacing though. Unlike some Ford EGR valves, the Cummins EGR valve can be cleaned and has a good chance of behaving for a long time after.
