I love swatching and have just started a new swatch book. Preventing me buying duplicates prompted this. I love all your ideas. I keep checking back to see if there are any new uploads. You're inspiring and I love your work. Much thanks. Rachelle, Australia
I am watching your video from Japan. I am happy that you use Japanese art materials. The color schemes you choose are so beautiful, I can't stop looking at them. Someday I would like to see a video showing exactly how you decide on the color scheme for your paintings. I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future.
Ahh thanks a lot! Japanese art materials I literally my favourite. I keep joking to my husband that when I do travel there I am going to take an empty suitcase and just bring back art materials from there! 😂 I definitely plan to share some strategies and approaches to choosing colour in future videos. ☺️🙌🏽🎨🌈
Ah! Same here! I reaaaaly love colours!! Whenever I bored I always swatching my art supplies... Even I alr swatch it before. It just sooooo relaxing😍😍😍 But if me, I use watercolor sketchbook to swatch... Ummm i think I gonna swatch again using paper sheet😁thankyou for the Inspiration!
I love the idea of having a swatch library!! I have something similar but I sort my colours by product rather than colour! Watching this has made me realise how much that limits me as an artist, there could be so many combos I haven't tried out yet!! Thank you for sharing, such a lovely video
Aww glad I could help. And thanks for sharing your thoughts. I used to do them as materials as well but I think working then as colour hues is soo much better. Please do message back or tag me on IG if you try it and share it. ☺️🙌🏽👍🏽🎨🌈
Aww thank you for your kind words and I really glad to hear that you have been enjoying my videos. I am definitely going to be making more. A few shows / other work commitments means that the videos had to take a back seat. But I’ll be sharing more soon. Thanks
Hi Parul. I am really enjoying your videos. They are inspiring and informative without being overwhelming or overly instructional. Your art just also makes me smile :0). Many thanks for the great content.
I LOVE swatching. It started as a log of watercolour paint that I owned to make sure I, like you, didn’t accidentally buy duplicates. Now it is something of an obsession lol. I just did all my supplies by hue, but I’m thinking I might now need to do them by medium as well 😊
Hello, Parul😊 I was encouraged by your ultra lovely videos! I want to draw something, but I’m always confronted with the fear of blanc pages. So, when I found your instagram and youtube, I was so excited❤ I can’t wait until your next video. I’m your huge fun ! Thank you😊
Aww thank you for your kind words. I am so glad that my work and videos have resonated with you. I’m working on some ideas for new videos so hopefully soon! ☺️🫶🏽
Subscribed! I love color, too. 😍 Thank you for making this video. It made me smile. You have a very relaxing voice as well. Much ❤️ from Nashville, TN USA 🇺🇸
Swatching art materials is one of my favourite things, and it's the first thing I do when I need to relax my mind! I usually swatch on a sketchbook, but your library version in loose sheets makes a lot of sense 👍 thanks! ❤️
Ahh glad to hear you are a fellow swatcher (hahaha I totally made that word up but I’m sticking with it!) Teresa! Yes I found the cards super useful for combining and comparing colours and other art materials.
I feel we speak the same language - and I don't mean English lol 🤣. I find swatching one of the most satisfying things to do, people actually tag me on Instagram nowadays whenever they do it too haha. I recently started a dedicated swatch book, using a ring binder sketchbook called My Art Book where you can add and remove pages. That way I can easily add new sets and every material has its own specific paper. I swatch per set / brand, but I also love that idea of swatching your materials per color group! Might be phase 2 of this project (since I own a lot of art materials, I'm still in phase 1 of swatching everything again in that dedicated book ;-).
Hahaha I love that. It’s always sooo fun to know other people geeking out on swatching! Wow your book sounds super professional! I love the sound of it! 😀👍🏽💛
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. Colour is such a personal thing but what we don’t realise is how it’s also very intuitive. We all do that with our clothes when we dress up or in our homes and how we decorate them. 💛💙❤️
Love all your videos! Do you teach? If so I would definitely take your course! I too love colour and love your swatches and how you organize them. After watching your last video I ended up buying a few of those water soluble pastels and have really enjoyed playing with them. Keep up the beautiful work! All the best, Caroline 🙂🎨
Hey Caroline, thank you so much!! I really appreciate all your lovely comments about my work. I do plan to work on some online courses next year. In the mean time I’ll definitely be talking more about my work and tips etc here so do keep an eye on it. 🙌🏽☺️
I get where you are coming from. I usually do it when I want to draw something but I’m pulling a blank or when I too tired to do anything else. It really helps me understand the materials better plus they also super useful when planning for colour palettes. Also you don’t have to do it all in one go if it’s a lot of art materials you want to swatch.
Five reasons I love this video:
1. Helpful
2. Inspiring
3. Lovely soothing voice
4. Wonderful production quality
5. Colours!
Ahhh that is sooo thoughtful and sweet! I love it! ☺️🙌🏽✌🏽
I thank my TH-cam algorithms for recommending your channel to me! I really love your style and how you explain everything. Much loveee!
Aww thanks so much and thank you YT algorithm too! 😂😉🙌🏽
You certainly made swatching look like an art form in its own right. 😊
Ahh haha thanks Andrea! I actually find it really relaxing. It really feels very therapeutic to me. 🫶🏽🙌🏽

Hey Rachelle, happy to hear that even as a seasoned swatcher you managed to find value from the video! New video coming out this week. ☺️😍🫶🏽

Me too. I love swatching and making swatch cards and keeping a designated "colour-book" 🧡 Your sketchbook is lovely!
Yay!! I love hearing that there are fellow swatchers out there like me that enjoy this process.

What a great idea! I had swatches on my sketchbook but it isn't practical at all. Thank you so much!✨
Ahh yes I used to do that too. But I much prefer them on cards especially to choose colours for palettes. I am glad to hear you enjoyed it! ☺️🫶🏽
Thanks for sharing your process. I just found your channel and love the presentation and calming explanations. Your artwork is beautiful!
Aww thanks a lot Sheri! I’m glad you are here and that you enjoyed my work and my videos. I really appreciate it. 💛🙌🏽
I really like your color work and would love to see how you choose them, like how you started with one color and did the rest
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. Colour is such a personal thing but what we don’t realise is how it’s also very intuitive. We all do that with our clothes when we dress up or in our homes and how we decorate them. 💛💙❤️
I like to swatch by making abstract designs in ink and then filling in the sections with the colors. Sort of like bujo mood trackers.
Ahh sounds fantastic! Thanks for sharing your ideas. I’m definitely going to try it during my colour play time. ☺️💫🖍️🌈
my fav videos! please make more videos
Aww thanks so much! Yes I’ve been a bit busy with a few projects but now I’m working on new videos!
I loved the video. Thanks for sharing❤️🧡💙

I need to get a sketchbook for just swatching
Yes or even art cards like I do. They are easy to carry around and very handy for choosing colour palettes. ☺️🎨🌈💫
Please make more videos 😊❤
Hahaha yes! I’m in the process of working on a new one now. ☺️
Please publish your sketchbook!
Awww hahaha thanks! I guess at some point I’d like to publish a compilation of my sketchbooks. ☺️
@@parularora Please do! Do you have additional content or patreon membership coming?
I remember getting skitted at art college for doing this 😐
Oh really!! What was their problem with it??
@@parularora they were just rude people. The students , not the tutors. It was a bit of a hostile environment x
Ahhh that sucks. Not everyone can be teachers.
Swatching feels like a chore to me and I always forget I have swatches when I force myself to make them 😔
Anyone have any advice?

@@parularora Thank you so much!
My pleasure. I would say give it a go again and listen to a podcast or an audio book while doing it. I hope you enjoy it this time around. 🙌🏽💛
