    That came out great! We've heard many artists say they like that acrylic gouache doesn't re-wet with subsequent applications, and as many say they don't like it (if they're used to traditional gouache). What acrylic gouache does just as well as traditional is it produces a subtle, low-relief surface with low reflectivity which looks great and reproduces easily. We think this video is an excellent demonstration of how this medium can be handled effectively for illustrative and artistic applications!

    The sign saying Do not Molest the alligators gets me every time. There was a novel we had to read in high school and i cannot remember what it was for the life of me, but a priest is yelling "so why then molest us!" I found it weird and was a little confused, so I found out that way back in the day it just meant "bother". But it still makes me giggle when I see signs about not molesting alligators.🤣

    Oh the gay hands!! They're such a good edition imo and really bring out the emotions in the painting. And overall i loved this piece its gorgeous and the characters looks amazing; loved what you did with the tree and flowers, I think they turned out really beautiful. Might be my favorite make it gay so far!

    I love it! The colors and the composition is so good. Also the faces of the girls are beautiful! And I think it's 'spooky' enough because of the color choices and clothes.

    Anatomy is actually often "wrong" in paintings because they're adjusted for a certain composition. That's also the reason why, despite being technically off, they work.
    Lovely painting, I've been enjoying your content for a while :)
    Also, on a side note, while the acrylic gouache is fun, be aware of the pigments used, most are not lightfast. It's alright in sketchbooks of course, but if you want to sell your artworks, I'd recommend using something else. I personally use the cads from golden soflat, to keep it consistent in terms of shine.

    I'm so delighted you ended up keeping the pink line around the moon. It's incredible, and I know it may add to the sun moon issue, since a blue line would be more moon like, but I love that pink.

    I always feel like acryla-guache should just be called matt acrylic paint. To me, the thing that makes squash squash is the fact that it acts like watercolor but is opaque. But I love this painting and I love watching you work. Thanks for the great video.

They really are beautiful - I loved the sketch you made of this piece. But - why can't that be where you end?

  • @amypanddirtytoo1926

    I think it looks better than the original, no offense, just my personal taste. Do you have some detail brushes? You can get those sharp little lines you want and the nice tiny point on your brush youre looking for. And I mean like those itty bitty ones that are comprised of, like, two hairs. 🤣 Very useful for super sharp detail for smaller sized works!😊😊

  • @MadDannyWest
    @MadDannyWest 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    tbh not to disrespect the original artist, but this looks a lot better than the original
    I looked up Alfred James Dewey, and all of his paintings have strange anatomy proportions, I wonder if it has to do with the canvases he used which seemed to be long and thin.
    I found that he started an art school in california as well as an art guild so maybe he actually knows what he was doing, and the long bodies are a stylistic choice

    • @amypanddirtytoo1926
      @amypanddirtytoo1926 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe it has to do with the time he was around? In the 20s that really long thin body was the beauty standard of the day. Even the fashion was made to enhance a long thin athletic, no hip shape on women (picture the dresses that went straight down with the belt around the widest part of the hips instead of the waist so that it actually hides the waist instead of enhancing it) So maybe he exaggerated it? Just like how people tend to exaggerate what is considered the sexy body type today, long legs, thin waist but huge butt and hips, full lips and lashes that go out to your ears...... Just to be clear, I am just trying to make an educated guess, not actually saying that is solid fact.🤷‍♀😊

    • @MadDannyWest

      @@amypanddirtytoo1926 That makes a lot of sense, not to sound headass but artists are always influenced by the cultural zeitgeist of the time

    • @amypanddirtytoo1926
      @amypanddirtytoo1926 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MadDannyWest yeah, not just artists, everyone. It's just human nature. BTW I also think hers is better than the original. No disrespect, that's just my personal taste for art. I have a great appreciation for impressionism, I just don't really aesthetically find it pleasing to my eye. 🤷‍♀️
