Genie Francis says her Dad, also an actor, told her that she could NEVER forget her lines when she was just a kid (14). I guess she took him quite seriously. The people from her hallmark movies were completey in awe it seemed regarding how fast she could memorizes, hundreds of pages of dialogue. .. oh and I agree... the woman was robbed of that golden trophy over and over and over again.

And those Hallmark movies were golden, I loved The Note, all 3 parts. She really lights up the screen.
She was amazing in these scenes. Her and Luke were the tops. I loved all the feels and tension. Chemistry was awesome always when these two were together
I know that some people talk about how weak Laura is but to me she was really strong throughout this situation. She was only seventeen, married, dealing with over-bearing husband, and falling in love with another man. She had to deal with a lot!

The broken look on Luke's face when Laura says that she doesn't belong near either one of them, just kills me! They had such expressions during their scenes! Watching the 1979 season all over again. Loving every minute of it...again!
Luke looks likes he is going to fall apart when Laura leaves his office. TG really played his part well.
Yes they both sure played th hell out of this whole storyline. Sorry but damn Scotty had no right, no right at all forcing Laura to quite her job at he Disco. Yes sir by far “oh how I love Luke &Laura” They will forevermore belong together for better or for worst. There is no other couple that should be as happy as they once was. There Love will be for me at least be written in stone. Like let no man write my epithet. It sad so much pain for only these two to indoor so much that a hard life is being put in there path. All those rocks,stones and some hard placed ugly decisions they have, including the faith of not being together as they should have been from the first moments that they meet. Faith had a lot more coming there way only to be together for a long time .... but only the faiths will ever keep them apart. Faith be damned faith, love and the writing on the wall is the only thing that kept them two loving people apart in the first place. Please wall put them back so we can once more breath again together and be happy as it should have been from the very beginning to the bitter yet sweet END. Luke knew how to hurt Laura with that music, but Laura also knew how to hurt Luke and she did! And did you notice how much stronger Laura is now that she was. I think she might have Luke to thank for helping her find the strength in herself.

Oh you guys Laura would have found her inner strength. sooner or later. She was very strong inner heart. .. But when it came to real love she became very weak and insecure and confused! Laura would have found her true self. With or without Luke and or Scotty! JMVHO! ROSIE OUT!

@@cindyfarnsworth7509 TG is a great actor but Luke Spencer can truly be despicable. People rail on Scott so much, yet they root for Laura to get together with the man who raped her!?! He can be very demanding and disrespectful towards her in other ways, too.
I always preferred Scotty with Laura.
TG was 15 years older than Genie, and she didn't look a day over 17, which was her actual age⁰ when LnL began. Although their escapades were exciting, and their storylines very well-written, I think it
would have been better if Laura had been at least 5 years older. She looked like such a baby next to Luke. She was closer in age to Scott, and even if he seemed controlling at times, his wife was only 17 and not very mature. She needed guidance. Too bad she didn't decide to quit her job sooner.
Luke loves her and she is trying hard to love Scotty, but love don't work that way.

What she convey with her eyes is crazy, it never surprised me that people thought her & TG were actually a couple. The way she looks at him...it's nuts. Amazing.

Yes my God GF is a wonderful actress I just love her acting. I also love TG too he is always sooo very great himself. To me in IMHO they are the very BEST anywhere, anytime....all of the time GOD bless them both. I hope that they are proud of them self’s. Scottie treats Laura like a child! Telling her what to do how to do it what to say as if he was her father. Then Laura is to "obey" like a good little wife. She should have made sure that word was never in their marriage vows!

Well, technically, she is a little girl. Just 17. And with a big heart and a taste for the wild side. Somebody had to offer her some guidance, and that fell to her husband. Scotty may have been bossy at times, but he didn't rape her.
She certainly did stand toe-to-toe with him and she at the time was almost 1/2 his age. The whole Emmy thing, with regard to Ms. Francis, is a serious joke. She deserved a slew!
You damn skippy GF did and much, much more. They gave Laura / GF not a damn thing. JIMHO GF was and still is the very BEST . She did her time, She work hard for her money so hard for it honey. Love Rosie. PS GF should have gotten many, many awards. Thank you Rosie

I think she was denied the Emmys she deserved might have had something to do with her age. At times she was the youngest member of the cast. She was also a damsel in distress. TPTB didn't take her seriously enough.

I noticed Laura made sure to tell Luke twice that it was Scotty's decision that she quit the disco and that he would repay the loan in full in one lump sum. She really didn't want to quit.

So many people vilify Scott and cheer for her to break her marriage vows and get with Luke. Mr. Spencer was no hero, and Scotty was no villain.

GF is awesome here. She was so under-appreciated and should have won a Best Actress (not just Supporting Actress) for 1979, 80, and/or 81. I notice that she never pauses in any of her lines and never has to glance at cue cards as I sometimes see TG do (sorry TG, but it's true!)
these episodes were so much darker than 1981-ive watched TG for decades and his consistency as an actor is amazing
I have read that quote... but you can really tell if you have watched a lot of their work .. I really believe that is what is so amazing about them.. he brings them far out to the edge of the cliff and she knows the exact second and how to stop them and bring them back... just to venture out again... more eloquently stated it in the channel description. LOL
I always thought Laura's lack of resolve was a symptom of her youth. I wasn't much younger than she was when I first saw this show, and I really related to her emotional waverings. The L&L clips marked "Day of Reckoning" involve Laura describing her feelings during this time, and it really rang true to me. Of course, Genie was never really acknowledged for being the great actress she was back then...was never in serious contention for an Emmy, even though she stood toe-to-toe with Tony.

No way was Lisa Marie "Jennifer" born in 1968 - she would have only been 11 here. (Although she does act like it!😆)
you know csu Laura was NEVER considered week until the mid to late 90's.. then she was written kind of out of character... she was always and really is a tough cookie... when TG wrote the endgame story 2001-2002 he wrote Laura much more to her original character.
Yeah, I hope Genie hasn't gotten a complex b/c the PTB never recognized her acting chops. Her fans know she is Tony's equal.

Dear Miss Connie I see that! He was shattered. That old song, "You always hurt the one you love" came to my mind. Luke didn't have those feelings at all for Jennifer. Luke couldn't care less for Jennifer and she practically threw herself on him. No one can bring him more pain or happiness than Laura. That is the power Laura has over Luke, and he is spellbound by her!

I have always like that about Laura.. she could be sweet and has a heart of gold but never took anything from anybody really.. my absolute favorite was when she told off Sonny after Lucky was "burned" in the fire. Laura was not a strong young woman. She constantly lied and evaded the truth.
She was always very spoiled and insensitive. I never believed that she was Lesley's daughter as lesley's real daughter would've been able to stand on her own two feet.
Sorry Laura did not no that the family who had raised her was not her real family. Laura was very confused,lied to and hurt by that when she found out the whole truth. Yes, here here! Luke really pulled a low blow by playing the song from "that night". He is reckless and impulsive and just takes what he wants. I love TG and the character of Luke, but he's the bad boy from Elm St. and he never breaks free from that mentality.

...at least his equal... there are times she out acts him (she certainy did on the airport 2008 goodbye scene)... I also think that she often kept him on track. Mr. Geary could sometimes just be too over the top without Genie grounding him.... (... kind of like Luke without Laura!)

That's right......many many years ago, I remember a character named Meg Baldwin. She was Scotty's mother and she was married to someone else who was Scotty's father. Meg married Lee years later and he adopted Scott! I knew it would come to me eventually LOL!

What makes me mad now is Lesley raised Lulu for years and Lulu is a total obnoxious brat --at least in my eyes. A real sister wouldn't told her brother that his son was not his as it is the right thing to do (not to mention that everyone else knew the real truth and it made Lucky look like a total yutz.) And now Lesley is raising Spencer, Nick's son. Poor lesley, couldn't have any more of her own children with Rick, but she did raise enough of them --Mikey, Amy, Lulu and now Spencer.

You know I never realized how inconsistent they have written Laura throughout the years. Especially during that whole Rick Webber thing. Or when she woke up from her illness and they did not tell her Luke was married to Tracy. It is refreshing seeing her like this.
The writers at GH can be brilliant at times, but some of them don't research the history of the actors. Sometimes there's no continuity. EXAMPLE:
Holly Sutton was in a coma at the time Ethan would've been conceived. No way she could have had an affair with Luke or anyone.
Writers, do your research!

Yes it is VERY hard for some of us long time viewers... the notion the younger generation (who only saw Laura in the late 90's, attic storyline and in 2006) have about Laura... She is really one tough, strong, determined cookie.. not some whimpy wall flower.. NOT BY ANY STRETCH. Also not a judgmental person at all... the whole Laura keeping Luke away from the kids a la mid 90's.... hmm an imposter... or hormonal.... hmm or written by someone who just didn't know.

*waves hand* LOL!! As you know I'm one of the "younger" viewers who only remembers the Laura from the 90's on forward. I thought Laura was written as a strong character, during Claire Labine's reign. The Laura/Sonny confrontations were very memorable.
This is the Laura we have in 2023 and I love her, lol. Just need to get all her kids back on the show and maybe a sexy love triangle to spice things up. Kevin gets a tad boring, but I will say he treats Laura so good.
Laura is 61 years old now, and is mayor of P.C. She deserves a peaceful marriage after all the drama she went through with Luke and Scott. I think Kevin is a good match for her at this point in her life.

I agree that when she was younger she was NOT strong.. but she became that way with her life on the run... and she was not raised by Lesley.... so there was no harm, no foul there , it was written that way back in the day...that was what all the discord when she came to be with Lesley at first was about.
Whew…that later scene in the cars. I can see how Luke/Tony and his predicament drove the girls/women wild back when this was on TV. Definitely an unconventional sex symbol 🔥. It should be Laura in the damn car with him!!!!
Laura was viscously cruel to Luke here. She really hurt him badly. Which she always did very well.
I think it was just the way he said it that people reacted to... not what he said.. of course it makes sense that he wants her to quit the disco.... there is even justification in his tone of voice... because he was very upset and panicky... but people are allowed to react any way they want...it's ART... art conjurs up different emotions in each person...

Scott called his dad "Lee"? I dont' remember if Lee was his birth dad or not... my mom watched GH from it's premeire in 1963, but I forgot the original story lines.
Please we are NOT going to turn this into some kind of war. There is plenty of that on the message boards if anyone wants to fight a battle. Please not on this playlist. HERE I hope EVERYONE understands that there is NO wrong and NO right.... Only Many, Many, Many shades of gray. That is what the whole story is about, that was what made it soooooooo GREAT. The characters are ALL trying the best they can playing the hand life has given them. I think the audience tends to follow Laura's lead.
