Cbum has been more in a Zen mindset the last couple of years. His ego wouldn’t be crushed if he lost this year, and so he can compete from a place of strength.
This whole interaction reminds me of working out with my lifting buddies ends up turning into a 4-hour workout/therapy/business meeting/philosophical deep dive lol. There is something so great about these kinds of interactions. Iron definitely sharpens iron.

It's impressive to see how much wisdom Cbum has next to Alex. As a multiple Mr. Olympia winner, he knows exactly what he's talking about. But he remains humble and suggestive rather than trying to coach, unlike Alex. Cbum is a true champion 👏🏼👏🏼

Outside of the casino, the phrase "quit while you're ahead" basically translates to "don't try your best this time around because then you won't risk losing or hurting your fragile ego".
in the casino, most of the game is designed so the player lose in the long run, the player can only win in the short run. working out however, is a long run game.
I liked this comment at first, but then I remembered the copious amounts of drugs he would have to take to win another year. The man has a family, a business, and a bright present and future. Stepping away from the competition seems best, but if another year is what justifies his pursuit of happiness, then so be it.
This. I always thought it would be better to be dethroned than to always wonder if you had left something in the tank and not giving it your all. Obviously, sometimes life and health intervenes and you need to take those things into consideration. Dorian retired as a six-time champion, but he's openly stated his body was run down, he didn't see the point anymore, and he was taking too much drugs. All things being equal, though, assuming these other factors don't come into play, Chris could go until he was beaten and no he gave everything. But obviously, he needs to do for himself what is best in the long run and will make him happiest
Not when it comes to legacy. Look at fighters like anderson Silva, Mike Tyson, and Floyd mayweather. They had amazing careers but decided to keep fighting for money/ pride and now they’re perceived differently. Mohamed ali, Gsp, and khabib are good examples of the opposite
Cbum is almost our modern day Frank Zane. Methodical about training. Philosophical. Strong mindset. Very anti roid abuse. And obviously an unbelievable physique.
Thank you both for documenting this workout. It was invaluable to listen to your discussions on life, business, beliefs, and training. Cbum, looking forward to #6. Alex, looking forward to book #3.
You couldn't of been more humble in your explanation of "Its not just about winning, its facing adversity and embracing fear" Life's a lesson, learn everything you can.
He doesn’t train the rp way his eccentrics are way to fast no pauses or the stretch of the movement just moves weight he needs to really buckle down and learn
It’s amazing how cbum actually controls the weight and uses the muscle where as the other guy is just maxing out his stretch reflex and joints, Roids work baby
The warm-up/mobility exercise you, Chris, were teaching Alex to execute is something everyone should incorporate into one’s training, and even regardless of training. The exercise, where both feet and hands are on the floor and at first you “walk” your hands away from feet and then walking your feet to the hands. And who is serious about heavy lifting, it is that much more beneficial both health wise and also what comes to being more productive in the gym - lifting heavy. Especially good prior to squatting movements and deadlifting. If I remember correctly, Dorian Yates use to did this exercise for warmup.
There's a fundamental difference between being #1 in the world and simply winning. Championship is the top spot of excellence; excellence is still wide platform where many can hold their share. Aquisition isn't the #1 company portoflio in the world; yet it still excels and wins in multiple domains. Chris could retire during his peak and be remembered as a champion. But for him then what? He seems to be thinking about leveraging his personnal brand, if the end goal is to migrate his success from bodybuilding to business, trading the champion title for more lessons, more exposure, maybe an underdog story arc that feeds a product or service line; he could transform loosing into winning. Banger video.
1:02:50 Alex Hormozi asked Chris. "The hardest thing to develop is intuition. Can someone please teach me that?" Please find me in skool, Strong Men's Power.
Alex says in all other areas of life that failure is a good thing I really don’t get why he’s say this. It only helps you learn and makes you more relatable. No one would care if Chris lost once he’d still be the GOAT, he just needs to keep trying to run up the score right now.
Alex diligently adheres to Dr. Mike's principles of full range of motion (ROM), yet the tempo of his movements does not align perfectly with the prescribed pace. Observing his struggle with each repetition is both honorable and commendable, underscoring his commitment. This demonstrates a broader truth: few, if any, truly embrace the meticulous, slow cadence that Dr. Mike advocates.
When u have the ability to be the greatest it’s ur duty to set the bar as high as u can u could be the first 6 7 8 10 time who knows until someone with the gift tries it if u leave after being just better than everyone else ull never know the true limit the real greatest people can’t be stopped by the mindset of quitting while ur ahead that’s my take on it atleast
Lesson of the day make sure you stretch and take vitamins. I have no pain from working out. I do however put too much weight on leg press sometimes. I need to work on more reps at lower weights before I push that heavy
you should never fear failure - you need to embrace it as it is a fact of life. you can't win all the time - you must lose sometimes, so learning how to deal with it and move forward is essential. chris is an OG!!

I mean let's be real if he wants to keep winning he needs to keep using a lot of very heavy drugs and honestly at this point there's no much upside and a lot of downside
