I found this info on Humblebee & Me:
Polysorbate 80 is really useful for solubilizing small amounts of oils into otherwise mostly watery things, like toners or body mists. I’ll also use it in 100% oil based products (like cleansing balms or oils) or products that need very low water levels (like bath bombs). In a cleansing balm or oil it functions as a cleansing/rinse-off-boosting ingredient because one end of the molecule loves oil while the other end loves water; the oil loving end grabs oil soluble things from the skin and the water soluble end grabs into the water you’re washing with for easier wash off. Polysorbate 80 tends to be sticky in leave-on products, so be sure to experiment with your formula to see if the amount you’re using works with the skin feel you want. I tend to prefer to use polysorbate 80 in wash-off products for this reason.
Polysorbate 20 is used to solubilize small amounts of essential or fragrance oils into otherwise mostly watery things, like toners or body mists. In a pinch you can try swapping polysorbate 80 and 20 around, but I really would recommend having both as they do have different strengths and are quite inexpensive. Polysorbate 20 tends to be sticky in leave-on products, so be sure to experiment with your formula to see if the amount you’re using works with the skin feel you want. I tend to prefer to use polysorbate 20 in non-skin-things (room sprays, hair mists, etc.) for this reason. An alternative for polysorbate 20 is to use the hydrosol version of the essential oil you’re looking to incorporate, if one exists.
THANK YOU Beautiful!!! This info was exactly what I needed!! Peace, love, light, blessings, and prosperity unto you, Queen!!
☺️🙏🏽🤎
Body spray mixture
1) distilled water
2) Isopropyl alcohol 99.9%
3) polysorbate 80
( polysorbate 20 for room or linen spray = classification emulsifier )
4) German plus preservative body spray
5) fragrance oil
Spray bottles from Amazon
Measuring cup
51 grams of water
12 grams polysorbate 80
45 grams of alcohol
6 oz of fragrance oil
.06 of preservative
45 percents water
10.5percent polysorbate
40 alcohol
5 fragrance oil
.5 percent
Wisk ingredients same recipe as above with the exception of the polysorbate 20 for room and linen sprays only )
This is amazing!!! Thank you so much for this!!!💞💞💞
Great video tutorial! Thank you for sharing. One thing I have learned is net weight is different than fluid ounces/ml. The containers you have are for 2 fl oz - so depending on what you put in there the weight will be different (i.e. body gel, body lotion, body cream, or perfume).
Poly 80 creates a clear blend while poly 20 still has a cloudy mix. At least that’s my experience.
To my understanding that's because the 20 is only water soluble not water and oil soluble but I could be wrong
Thank you for sharing ❤
Great video. I am ready to make some
Hi I m from PAKISTAN your video is very helpful thanks 👍
Thanks
What kind of alcohol did you use? Was this denatured alcohol? Thank you for sharing!
I think I can see why you have some left over. That 45g of alcohol equals about 57ml, so you'll end up with over 2oz (60ml) in volume at the end for each bottle.
Is there a carrier in this spray? Thanks
80 for heavy oils like Jajoba, while 20 for light oils like essential oils.
Does this recipe have a carrier oil? I know essential oils need a carrier oil…
Please can tell me how much warer and cohol . ?
Polysorbate 20 emulsifies water with fragrance or essential oils. Polysorbate 80 emulsifies water with carrier oils.
Thank you so much for this information!! This is so helpful ❤️❤️❤️
Does this have a real bad smell of alcohol?? I know you said it goes away but I’ve done other recipes where it was said that horrible smell goes away and it never does! I’m trying to figure out what to do about it.
Thank you for this video can you please tell us what scale you used thank you
No
Do you need preservative if you use over 20% alcohol?
what's the difference between body sprays and body splashes?
Thanks for the great tutorial..can we use essential oil instead of fragrance oil? Thanks
I have not used essential oils in my sprays so I don’t have measurements to give you. I know that they are completely different than fragrance oil measurements so be sure to check before making!
I have followed your method. but the formulation is too sticky on the skin. is there a solution?
HI sandra you are doing good job just discover your channel and i was wondering what is the name preservative we can use for the product , kindly reply
It’s called Germall Plus
Can all these ingredients be bought in a store or all online
Good day. Thanks for the video. The percentages given are for a 5% perfume....what are the percentages if I want to have a 15-20% body spray?
These are the percentages I use. If you would like to change the %, I highly recommend Wholesale Supply Plus website because they have calculators that can help you create your own formula ❤️
I just use oil and water...more natural. All the other chemicals not needed...my customers have no complaints
No glycerine?
Polysorbate 20 emulsifies is only water soluble and emulsifies in water as for the , polysorbate, 80 it emulsifies in water and oil. Hope that helps
It is probably a 2 oz bottle by volume, not weight.
Thank you for your video, I was confused when you said you were adding 6 oz of fragrance oil, but you only put a tiny amount of fragrance oil. The two bottles you made was only 3.4 oz. Can you clarify this. I would like to try the smaller recipe
you should only use no more then 2% of what
Can i use Ethanol insteed of isopropyl alcohol?
I’ve never used ethanol alcohol so I cannot say for sure if it would work. I’m so sorry!
45% water
40% alcohol
5% fragrance
10.5% Polysorbate 80
.5% preservative
does not equal 100% its comes to 101%. So which one is off?
Oh! Sorry! The FO is lower. It’s 4%
This spray can be a linen spray too?
Yes, I use this spray on fabrics
what FO did you use and how can I convert to grams? Thank you!
I used Pearberry FO from Cierra Candle & Soap Supply. And I just Google “grams to oz” and then it give you a calculator to use
hi.ingedents please.writing
Hey! was just curious if the order of ingredients is important? i mixed the alcohol and water and it started getting warm XD
another question i guess is can this be made in bulk minus the fragrance so i can just portion out and add fragrances when i wan to make some instead of having to do the whole process for each scent?
Can Witch Hazel be used instead of alcohol?
My question too!!
@@jackiwall8891 Witch Hazel's content is 14-15% alcohol and not considered a disinfectant. The two are not interchangeable. Hope that helps.
If the mix is used up within 2 weeks is germal necessary?
I would still use it because Baxter can form at anytime and you would just want to be safe ❤️
@@scampos612 ok, thank you.
Please can I use methanol instead of Isopropyl alcohol?
Please can you least all the ingredients? I didn't get all 🙏
from a quick google i would not recommend methanol for products used on skin 'methanol is very toxic, following oral, pulmonary and/or skin exposure'
Plrase write them at the end of the vidio.
All good essential oils should be antibactial, so shouldn't need a microbial to mix in it.
You measured all the ingredients in grams except the fragrance. Was that a mistake?
I may have said oz but I actually meant grams. I only measure in grams
@@scampos612 thank you
Okay thanks so much
Is this a natural body spray?
These sprays contain fragrance oils. They are “clean” scents, as they do not contain carcinogens, phthalates or other harmful chemicals but these scents are not “natural”
You did 6 oz of fo? Did you mean six grams?
Oppps! Yes, I meant six grams ☺️
80 may be heavier and sticks to the skin better.
