Hey bro. I hope you find this message. I've been binging your videos. I am taking on a huge project and want to release it through webtoon. Your videos are so helpful. You are an incredible teacher, and you deserve WAY MORE views and subs. I hope life is going well for you. I want to extend a SINCERE thank you for all your hard work and all the effort you put into these videos. I have learned SO MUCH!
Hey walter! We are closely related and I just wanted to say that I got all of my talent from you! We’re currently in LA and we wish you well!
I've seen full art pages that are fine and 4-koma style comics that feel constrained. As you said the lettering is key and I think the difference is planning around going on webtoons/on phones.
I will add, when there is no scrolling and most if not all of the page is there on one screen it feels very efficient. Especially if webtoons is having a bad loading day.
As much as I wish it worked, you’re right, reading traditional format webtoons on a phone is horrible. Thanks for showing us how to fix it.
omg you're back! i'm so happy :)
hi walter! really glad you're back :)
Thank you for your precious information. Really, thank you! Mr Walter 🌹😊
the only comic i "read" on webtoon that's just comic pages copy and pasted, is a webcomic ive already been reading/supporting for years, and i just wanted to support them on multiple platforms. i dont even read it as it's just reuploads, i just leave the episode a like and maybe a comment every now n then 😂👍 hope this satisfies your curiosity
Hey Walter! How do we get featured at the top of Webtoon Canva in 2023? No one is doing videos about this, and I can not find any info on it. The qualifications must have changed because now I see brand-new comics get featured within 24 hours after uploading their first episode.
AHHHHH YOU'RE BACK!
Omg I was watching the previous opposite video today and wondering if I'll catch this one and heere it isss
Thank you for always giving us top notch tips! 🙏
dude where are you ?
Sameee
Thanks for your videos, Walter! 👍 We struggle together, and you really help! Love and power to you!
Love this content, I find your tips really useful. Can you do a video about the overall layout of clip studio as well as shortcuts that you find you use constantly? I'm swapping over from Photoshop.
You have the BEST videos ... Thank you
Great work Walter!!!
Right now I'm reading Hooky on Webtoon and also I'm making my own comics
Love your videos man. Thanks
hii, so I was wondering how you can make a character look the same? because my same character will look like a whole different person in the next panel 😭
There is a solution to that. Charakter reference sheets! Draw one Sheet, where you have your charakterdesign and the most important aspacts of it. Maybe draw it in different angles and stuff. There are many tutorials on this.
Will you be doing critiques again? Cause i love those❤️🥰
I’ve been binging your videos and I’m just so ready to make something. I’m working on my first chapter of a webcomic. Would you be able to look at it and possibly critique if I’m on the right path once I finish the first chapter? :) This is my first long form story content I’ve ever created 😅 do you only do that for patreon supporters?
Mr Walter are you okay? How you've been? I was worried about you because Hurricane Florida a few weeks ago, so plz let us know how you are 😢🥺
I don’t have clip studio or photoshop… I’m using procreate on my iPad
Hey I love your videos and i hope i get a response, i use ibis paint x to try and upload my vertical thumbnail but it doesnt work, i do the correct format on my phone then send it my computer but for some reason it doesnt work can you help?
This is a dumb question, but: is there any file type that will read like a scroll format comic? For example, I'm going to email someone my scroll format comic. Is there any file type that will snap the comic to the sides of the phone to then allow for scrolling?
Or, phrased another way, can scroll format comics only be hosted on a website? Is there no way for me to download it and read it?
I have good experience with PDF format. Works just like you want.
What do I do? Just scan my comics into the pc and change it into a webtoon comic?
Hey walter I really like to make a comics but i don’t have that talent I’m just an author that write a book, is there any way to find a solution if my problem?
Do another judgin' yo comic video but on Grand reign, Hykings, Wretched souls and Legends of vithra
Does this also apply to comics drawn on paper with physical pencils, ink and whatever paints?
Sure. As long as you can scan them into a computer, you can do this
Hi, thanks for this! Are you, or anyone else, aware of any software which will automate this process?
Please please tell me where is banner setting are for webtoon l need to know. 😭😭😭😭 please help me. Thank you.
That's only available for originals, canvas just have the pfp
Hello , are you still open for Judging Comics ? if so is it ok if i send you mine ?
Thank youuuuuu!
How do you do this if you make paper comics? Pages can be digitalised through scans, but it won't be possible moving around separately panels and baloons
I would say that's where things like Photoshop or clip studio paint come in. Basically any image editing software. It's gonna take some cut and paste and cleaning up the artwork... Work.
Hey Walter, thanks for the video. Can webtoons support comics done with traditional print paneling layouts, left to right read, 4-5 panels per page? Or is it just good for vertically scrolling one panel at a time? So, would you have to isolate each panel to read vertically one at a time? Thanks for any info you can give.
You can put traditional print format comics on Webtoon, there's no rules against it, but if you have the time or money to pay someone to convert it to vertical scroll format, I'd do it that way instead. I talk about it a little at the start of the video. If you don't want to convert it, I'd still upload it to Webtoon as a place to point new readers to check out your work for free. Just make sure to put a link to your online stores/socials so they can buy your physical book or follow you. If you want to stick to traditional format, check out Tapas as well. They're vertical scroll, but their UI handles traditional print format a little better than Webtoon.
@@walterostlie Thank you Walter. Sorry if I missed the mention of how to do this in your video. I have just studied traditional panel layouts and had invested in some books by Scott McCloud along with studying the Marvel and DC panel schemes.
As you know, panel layout is its own art. If I need to learn the vertical format for the long run, then I will. In any case, I will use your suggestions. Thank you. 🙏
Gosh I hate the Webtoon Comic Format... I really don't want to conform to it... I like my Print Comics, that's what I grew up with, that's what I've learned! I have to find some sort of Middle ground, really. I don't wanna give up my Print comic style. I'ts just a Classic, for me this is what comics should look like... But yeah... those dang phones...
