    Correction: Eyelevel is ONLY your horizon line IF the camera is parallel to the ground. If you (aka the camera) are looking at an angle (from above, for example) the horizon line maybe out of view.

    Here’s a tip for webcomics, if you don’t got an spen draw it on paper and trace by taking picture uploading it on your art app add a new layer turn opacity down then draw over the lines, I used it once and it turned out nice, use thin lines btw it helps

    • @walterostlie
      @walterostlie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep, that's a good way to do things, especially with deadlines. Getting 3d models and all that stuff is super smart.

    Little boxes on the hillside
    Little boxes made of ticky-tacky
    Little boxes on the hillside
    Little boxes all the same
    Look, I had a lot of random quote running through my head while watching this video. :P
    Great work, Walter!

    Thank you Soooo much for this!!! I'm learning how to draw, have done a couple perspectives and some basic characters, but have never done them in the same drawing. This video was very informative even if this is mostly focused on Graphic Design it still taught me what I needed to know to create my hand drawings.

    Thank you Walter! I really appreciated your tips on how to adjust the color & lineart 7:15
    I’m glad you covered the topic of how to make characters & their background go together, because I haven’t been able to find many videos on this topic. Everyone talks about perspective when they talk about backgrounds, but they rarely say anything about color, lineart, and lighting. No one seems to like talking about how to make a character fit in their background, so that the character will look like they’re actually in that environment instead of being somewhere else.

    Can you cover what formats would be beneficial for both webcomic and printed comicbook formats?
    So someone making a webtcomic with intent to eventually print one day won't have to do a lot of editing when that time comes?

    This helped a ton! Do the same rules apply to 3D backgrounds?? Sometimes I notice backrounds and characters really stand apart from each other because one is cleary 3D while the other is clearly 2D. Do you have any tips on this?? Again, thanks for the video!! It was awesome!

    • @walterostlie
      @walterostlie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      usually this is because the 3d model has a lot more detail and very rigid lines. You can free hand trace the background and only include enough detail to match the art. The line weight and color will also have a big impact on much the elements blend like I talk about at the end of this video.
