  • So the up shot is the friction / Clutch plate had the wrong spline pattern
    and the spigot bearing or bush needs replacing and the flywheel ring gear. The question now is how long will it take to get all the parts so I can get the use of my ramp again.

      John, I have to admit I did say to Bernard make sure you get the correct parts several times when he told me it was not a stock gearbox and I made it clear
      i really need to use the ramp for my XK rebuild ASAP. The turn around time was critical but of course that has gone to rat shit now 🤔 Cheers Dave

    Here in the USA we use Toyota 5-speeds which appears to be a lot less hassle than the Ford conversion.

    Always tricky messing on with someone else’s conversions….. it’s the one thing that always put me off of kit cars….. how do you ever find out what the original components came off of….!!!!! Kind regards, Richard.

      Richard, True and this is why i‘m very reluctant to do any jobs for anybody as I have had my fingers burnt in the past. I would rather do my own projects 🤔☺ Cheers Dave

    my next vid shows replacing the icp sensor on my one ton pickup with the V8 diesel, you have to disassemble most of the top of the engine to get at it, as Ford deemed the best place for the icp (injector control pressure sensor) and the ipr (injector pressure regulator) was under the massive GARRET turbo and Y pipe that is all the way at the back under the dash, it only gets to a gazzillion degrees back there eh.

      Doug, That sounds like an absolute nightmare but this is one of the many reasons I don‘t do modern cars as their design with maintenance in mind is zero.
      I hate computers and electronics and poxy sensors which to me just push the owner to go back to the dealers as you need there software. Cheers Dave

    Rather you than me Dave ,it looks like a bodge ,something isn`t centering properly ,could it be that the bell housing needs a spacer from the box as the damage on the fingers is a really wierd pattern

    • @ClassicCarCave
      @ClassicCarCave  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Peter, I believe it‘s the homemade release bearing fork that has caused all the problems of wear on the pressure plate fingers as you rightly say
      it‘s not centring correctly and the pressure on the fingers is uneven due to the throw angle this is what wrong in my humble opinion 🤔Cheers Dave

  • @johncoldwell340
    @johncoldwell340 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks like maybe that ford gearbox may not line up perfectly with that bell housing by the state of the spigot bearing/ bush

    • @ClassicCarCave
      @ClassicCarCave  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John, I tend to agree with you plus I believe the main reason for the damage is because the fork arm for the release bearing is homemade and not correctly
      centring the bearing on the pressure plate ? so the force is not equal around the circumferences I‘m surprised it lasted 15K kms 🤔 Cheers Dave
