Sheesh! Read through the comments, you really been working on the restoration for 10 years! Definitely its a labor of love. Most trade their cars in after 6 max. I'm imagining you have completed it by now. Its pristine! I'd be afraid to drive it after all the time and work you put in it. Its a 'head turner' ! Beautiful

Hahahah.. Yep it was over 10 years from the time I started the restoration until I got it back on the road. Thanks for the nice comments.

I owned one. Double clutch for first gear but it’s so low and rolling so slow you don’t need to get into first when rolling. Kinda cool anyway. Good 5sp idea but a lot of work. Vid plz when driving it.

Interesting project, nice colour. What has been done too the engine, has it been kept standard.

Thanks, The engine has been modified. A few things I did are Head ported, aluminum flywheel, 123 Bluetooth distributer, high compression pistons, performance cam, Vernier adjustable timing chain gear set, crankshaft and piston rods balanced....

Just wanted to know where you got the trim for the slots below the grill. I have a 78 just about together it on the road : )

I can’t remember who I bought it from but it is polished perforated stainless steel.

How much did the bel housing cost and who makes the rear mount for the transmission and body? is this Hydraulic and what is needed to make that work......

The total with shipping and all parts mentioned from Australia was slightly over $ 1,000.
I had to fab up/make the transmission mount that I welded into the car.
Yes it is hydraulic and uses the stock slave cylinder.

Hello Paul, are you certain that the transmission came from an ‘86 Corola? thanks.

Would the conversion have been easier fitting the 1.6 AGE Toyota engine too?

When I started the midget project 10+ years ago I sunk a TON of money into the original motor. If I had to do it over again I may look at other options ...but with all the upgrades I did the 1275 runs great and I am very happy with it.

@@paulshomegarage1542 It sure is a pretty car! I bet the 5 speed box makes it a much nicer drive.

      I put in a T-50 5 speed from a 1986 Toyota Corolla

Is it a US Corolla? I thought they went front wheel drive by 1986.

@@scottshure3389 Yes it is a 1986 US corolla. Not sure when they swapped to FWD.

you going to be changing the diff if not you wont get the full power upgrade from having a 5 speed

I don't feel it would be worth the expense/effort at this time.

Would a morris rear diff be better suited for the conversion? I am thinking of doing this 5 speed conversion for my mk1
