This is a really great introduction into the threat of narcissistic behaviour. It is like the sin which crouches at the door; it will creep in and take over if we're not vigilant and proactive in rooting it out of our own hearts and minds. Great stuff!
I can see a major danger of the normalization of narcissism being the eventual complete blindness to it in general. Already the presence of these traits is growing more and more and while the majority of the populace is not at the personality disorder level, I’m concerned that the continued engendering of those traits will lead to that being the case but no one realizing it both because it’s been normalized and because of the inherent lack of insight that accompanies it.
Another thought related to this subject- the obsession with building social media audiences and placing too much value in that requires “influencers” to chase trends and shift their behavior to stay “relevant”. As the platforms change their algorithms and manipulate content access, you can lose your audience if you don’t keep up.
This is true and it creates an environment where social/ behavior control agendas can target the trends through more more narcissistic supply and push people toward desired outcomes. The “influencers” are then incentivized into becoming unwitting tools being used to change behavior patterns at a mass scale.
06:59 THIS! This is what was making me go nuts, I could not grasp, how its is possible that narcissists were totally blind to the same tactics they used (on me for example) when the same play book was used on them by their "authorities"
When all a person cares about is gaining more and more supply, it’s very easy to control their behavior by feeding that desire. We are experiencing that control all around us, all the time. Gotta guard against it! Thanks for watching and joining the conversation!

Great video and discussion of this topic! It’s so crucial for us to be aware of and to reflect on, for all the reasons you share here.

@@mindsonguard that’s a really good framing of it! It occurs to me that the “influencers” are first unwittingly influenced in this system.
Like being sucked into a vortex. Insidious.
