    I didn't like what you said that you jumped back to the 1960s when you see Cotabato. You already know that Mindanao suffered from war and insurgency for so long and the mainstream media has painted the island a bad image that no investments would come in. Now, it's just recovering. And you're like surprised that it looks like that.

      I don't think he meant in a bad way, I guess because he's from America and travels around the world and have seen many places it's kinda true but I'm proud that Maguindanaon people are respectful and friendly to him Allhamdullillah

    • @Ego-Kills
      @Ego-Kills 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      That comment wasn't in a bad way and was talking about the cash only business(No cards accepted). It wasn't about city development. Myer is a kind and respectful young man. That comment came out of frustration not disrespect. He is born and breaded in America but mostly say he is Pakistani as a way of showing respect to locals, unlike many Americans who so proudly and arrogantly say "I am from America" as if America is heaven. Fyi: America is not as good as they make it. I live in Canada and have visited the US and A

    • @muhammadmd2148

      Dude, he didn't mean that. Westerners love rustic and classic looking places because they are already used to curated, well-maintained and extremely developed environments which can be borderline boring to them. "Going back to the 60s" is a sigh of relief for them, it's like being thankful that there are more to this world to see and experience apart from the places where they grew up.

    • @pintados3041
      @pintados3041 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      What are you talkin' about? He's just saying the truth. And it is really unusual for a highly Urban Guy like him to be in a City where it had gradually recovered from constant conflict and tension. As you can see, he had just said that as if it was another world for him because the people look stunned whenever they've seen him. Because honestly, he's only one of a few Foreigner Vloggers who had been here due to fear.

    • @AbuAtiya
      @AbuAtiya 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Cotabato in Bahasa Malaysia means KOTA BATU, meaning signifies a modern concreate city. In Malaysia we have city such as Kota Bharu, meaning modern city made from concreate. Cota means Kota in malay or city, Bato means Batu in malay or concrete building.
    I belief that Cotabato is a dilect by the muslim Mindano which their language Tagaloq has similairy words like the malay language. According to my knowledge, in the olden days The Malay Archipilago was huge continent. It was sub-divided during the ice-age, turn into the current situation. It was believed that Philippine was at one time, majority was muslim.

      @jdeen.associates 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@myertravels I am Malaysian. I dont understand Tagaloq, but listening to them talking amongst them..can guess what subject they were talking.
      Many dialect are quite similar to Malaysian, malay races.

    • @musiClassic-Toxic
      @musiClassic-Toxic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In our Meranao/ Iranon/Iranaun dialect [ Kota bato ] is Kota-Wator/ kotawatu ( stone fortress ). Our belief is that even before the coming of the Arab Muslim missionaries then followed by the Spaniards to colonize the now Philippine islands, our forefathers were Muslims believed to be monotheist though many historians and sociologist believed that many native people were practicing animism.

    • @jdeen.associates
      @jdeen.associates 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@musiClassic-Toxic yes, thank you for your response.
      I read old history Malaysia, Brunei, Sabah & Sarawak, Indonesia, Singapore & Philippines was at one time a malay Archipelago until it submerge and breakdown into land today.
      That's why the dialect are bit similar especially the Moro. Many words of them are similar, and many were muslims.
      Other then that, the DNA of those were the same group including the Hawaiian and some Indo-China's tribes like the Cambodian.
      Its very interesting to explore more about it. I never been to Philippines but I hope one fine day, I'll be down there.

    You’re so brave. I was born and raised in Cotabato City but I don’t have the guts to stroll around the city with just myself. That’s so risky. There are places in city that is a red spot and very dangerous for non-muslim, non-resident and mostly for foreigners. Moreover, there are plenty of coffee shops (a modern one) around hiways. If you really wanted to taste a classic Cotabato foods and coffee, just visit the old restaurant of Loking. Whenever I went home, that is my go-to place rather than modern coffee shops. I just wish you’ve contacted a local to tour you and communicate with the locals also. Majority of the oldies hardly understand and speak English. Mostly of the newer generation are educated (those who are educated) and can speak fluently and knew the right place to visit there.

    Currently, I live in Cotabato city, I'm a Muslim too but I highly recommend or SUGGEST that don't stay LONGER in Cotabato City, because the PEACE and ORDER is so FRAGILE that you cannot control untoward incidence that might happen within the city at any time or day. This is not to vilify the good image of the city and its beautiful people but the usual incidence of conflict is not between Muslims and non-Muslims but between a prior feuding clan or political opponents within the local. I will tell you I love Cotabato city but not SAFE during near ELECTION period where every prospect local candidates is positioning to run for an office. You better go to Marawi city and Lanao for a few days to experience it and STAY your nights in ILIGAN CITY because there is no (available?)hotel in Marawi that I can recommend.

      Dame mong dada imbes na ipromote mo lugar .EVERYWHERE IN THE PHILIPPINES IS NOT SAFE ,UNSURE .HIGHEST CRIME RATE IN PHILIPPINES IS IN MANILA LUZON ,NOT MINDANAO ..POLITICS IS DIRTY INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY ,OTHER COUNTRIES. CLANS FAMILY CONFLICT IS NOT ONLY IN MINDANAO .ALL OVER THE WORLD .IM NOT FROM COTABATO BUT SO SAD READING SUCH WORDS FROM YOU .

      @@AndreAbag-ks2dytama naman sinasabi niya. Yung conflict ng mga clan2/pliticians at redo kasi malala dyan. Pero oks naman di ka naman dadamayin dyan di gaya sa tondo pumasok kalang sa area nila saksakin kana kapag kusunada ka 🤦

      @@AndreAbag-ks2dy Ikaw ang maraming dada, di ka naman taga-Cotabato. Bakit kailangan mo gawing masama yung advice niya eh totoo naman. Di mo pwedeng i-compare ang gulo sa Cotabato sa mga gulo sa labas ng Cotabato. Kung diyan ka lumaki ng ilang dekada, malamang ganyan din yung masasabi mo sa mga foreigner.

      Mapia Mapita,
      I am a Westerner. I live in Cotabato City and alot of time in Dulawan! Yes corrcect Datu Piang. I agree be streetwise, but I feel alot safer and more welcome in my 10 years in and around Maguindanao than say Manila . Maguindanao and the people are the best I ever meet around the world!!

    Cotabato City used to be on par with Davao City in terms of development. Davao City kept on growing economically while Cotabato City just didn't develop as fast. Now, a lot of newer cities are zooming ahead of Cotabato City. Peace and order is very important for a city to attract investments. With the place finally peaceful, hopefully it will attract investments to improve the lives of the people there.
